Gabe's grin widened when he realized Liam seemed pretty enthusiastic about Defense Against the Dark Arts, which was all he needed. If he was only allowed to pick a handful of classes, that would definitely be one of his first choices, as well as Flying and Charms. On the topic of the Dark Arts, Gabe took the opportunity to brag about his family, as he so often did, though he forgot that Liam might not even know what he was talking about. "You know," he started, trying to play it cool. "My mom's an Auror. A really good one, too. I've seen her take down a Dark Wizard." He, of course, was lying. He actually had seen his parents duke it out with a particularly frightening wizard once, but the man ended up getting away. Gabe conveniently left out that part of the story.
He was beginning to like this kid more and more, finding that he wasn't your average studious Ravenclaw. Seemingly out of nowhere, Liam asked Gabe if he'd found any secret passages around. "Well, they wouldn't be very secret if I just went around telling everyone about them, now would they?" He laughed, though truth be told, he hadn't actually found any. Yet. After a moment more, he admitted, "Okay, well I've only really found one, and it's not even that secret. It just takes you from the seventh floor to the sixth floor bathrooms. Saves me some time here and there." Now that he thought about it, he wondered if the passage was even meant to be hidden, or if it was just common knowledge. He shrugged, truly not caring too much.
