These days, every time I try to open up hswcw.com on my browser, it returns me the following error:

Forbidden

You don't have permission to access / on this server.

Additionally, a 500 Internal Server Error error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

Apache Server at www.hswcw.com Port 80

I get it no matter if I try to access the Classes page, or the Office page, or the Home page. And it happens with all three browsers on my com: Chrome, Firefox and IE. Tried clearing cookies and cache, to no avail.

The only clue, if you can call it that, is that the error only started surfacing after my com crashed two days ago. I had the site opened on one of my tabs and logged into, though I just left it in the background.

So I'm just wondering, am I that lucky, or is there really a problem with the site... :(

I believe everyone is getting that message now. I think the govs are still working out things from the hack. So bear with it for now. What I do to get to the forum is type in hswcwforum and it gets me there (granted you've been to the forum and it's still in your browser's history). Hope this helps.

Getting to the forum isn't a problem for me, because HO forums are always open in my main browser, and I have the "Reopen pages that were last open during startup" option selected. :( It's just irritating that I can't create a new character. Prof. Clemenceau's announcement for aspiring professors to sign up before midnight tonight seems to suggest that the office site is working, so I thought I'd ask if I was alone in my problem. Thanks for assuring me, though, Prof. Blair!

By the way, I just tried accessing hswcw.com via a free proxy server. It seems to load fine. Can't say how safe these proxies are, since I'm a computer idiot, I think it's safe to conclude with this little experiment that only some people are affected with this error, while others are not. :)

They're fixing the Office for everyone and it is going to be offline until they're done, that's also the delay on year move-ups they won't be done until after this is all sorted out and fixed.

You don't need to sign up in the office to propose a class. You just click the professor's application. If your application is accepted C will tell you to create the character on the forum. The main page should be loading along with the application. You can click the application here.

Alright, thanks everyone!

Sawyer: It's not just signing up at the office that's a problem. Even that link you provide gives me a 403 forbidden error... The character I wanted to make wasn't going to be a professor character. I was just using the professor applications thingie as an example that the webbie should be working. Thanks anyway~

Okay, I am trying to get in the hswcw.com site, but its showing me the 500 forbidden error again. Is it due to the site prob?

If you're using a proxy, the main site will no longer allow you to visit it. That may be one reason for getting the 500 or 403 error.

You would know if you're using a proxy. If you go online normally then it shouldn't be a problem.

I am on a normal, wired network, with 2 wireless computers as well (one of which I usually use to do HO) and I cannot access the hswcw site, and I am DEFINITELY not on a proxy...

Hey Menelevir
I would not suggest using a proxy. They are not safe. The main reason people use proxys are to get around banns and blocks. They are transmitting all the 'data' you are submitting to a site. So your password can easily be 'hacked'. I would suggest not using proxies unless you absolutely have to or you know how to use them. It is really easy to acquire the passwords used in proxy log ins and sometimes they send them to third party sites. Also some sites block the use of proxies. So you can not access the site using them anyways.

How would you know if you are using proxy or not?

Yes, I know proxies are NOT safe. I only used a proxy to access the website, not sign in, just to see if it was just something weird with my internet, or even my computer. The irony was that while I could not access the website using my own internet, the proxy brought me there with no problem. Prof. Moncrief's post about making sure I'm signed out of the office gives me the idea that I cannot access hswcw.com through my own internet because I am still logged in there. On the other hand, I am not logged in via the proxy, and so I can access the site.

I would also venture to say: if you are asking how to tell if you are on a proxy or not, I think it's safe to assume you are not, unless someone whom you share your com with messed with the settings. Proxies aren't something you can accidentally get onto.

And for the record, I am still unable to access the office using my own internet. One of the proxies I tried loads the page though. I'm trying my best to be patient. :D

Actually I am having the same problem as:

Forbidden

I thought it's just my company firewall but since everyone is having the same problem as mine I guess it's about the site?

Menelvir...

If you are on a shared computer it might also be blocking you because someone signed up on that computer recently.

You may be right, Prof. Moncrief. But I've already tried clearing my cache and cookies! (And what a waste of good cookies too... :P)

EDIT: A stupid question from the computer idiot. Might it have something to do with everyone who signed up with the same internet service provider in my country sharing the same IP address?
