St. Mungo's Emergency Ward

 

 

All patients coming from the Quidditch Stadium will be brought to the Emergency Ward. 

Depending on the injuries of the patients, patients will be treated by one of the healers working there. 

It's possible the hospital will deal with a shortage of beds. Staff and patients are asked to move quickly in order to help everyone.

It had been a slow shift so far, just as she expected. Of course, like all the other people overseeing a ward, Lieke got the invitation to watch the game from the VIP stands, but since a lot of the healers in her ward requested time off to go see the game as well, either with kids of to watch a friend play, Lieke decided to work during the game. She had enough opportunities to see a quidditch game, probably more than that she'd ever thought she would because of her boyfriend. And it also meant she could pull in a favour with one or two healers when scheduling her own time off. Lieke had four people come in so far, two kids with some minor fractures, an elderly witch and a younger wizard with a homemade potion gone wrong. After sending them off, either home or to one of the other wards, Lieke was behind the desk, working on the schedules for the next few weeks as she waited for the next patient to come in.

As Ailsa apparates her and the floating stretcher besides her, she takes only the briefest of moments to take a quick sigh of relief. The stadium is in a state of chaos, and she would soon return. But here she understood. The Emergency Department could often be chaos, but at least it’s organized. She quickly walks in the department, calling over a healer on site. In case you haven’t heard, there’s been an incident at the game. Mass casualties. Her tone is clipped and measured, sticking to the facts and only what’s important. She steps aside so a healer can take over for her as she quickly rattles off her assumptions. First or second degree superficial burns. Has not yet regained consciousness. I believe his chest cavity is partially collapsed, and he’s internally bleeding out. She waits until the healer gives her a nod and takes over before she apparates back to the stadium. The boy would likely require surgery, and as a relatively new to St. Mungo’s healer, Ailsa is simply not qualified. She wouldn’t be able to help him further, and there are plenty of patients at the stadium.

Josef's mind was working a mile a minute but he knew that he had to get himself and Maja help- particularly her- quickly. He didn't feel his injuries were grave and certainly not life threatening save for the broken arm that was becoming bothersome. As they arrived at St. Mungos looking worse for wear, cuts and bruises were spread across their features, clothes ripped and looked disheveled as they were coated in debris and soot. It only took him a second to regain his bearings as they walked through the triage unit and quickly yelled out, "HELP! THERE'S BEEN AN ATTACK AT THE GAME!" Maja always felt awful during side apparation and could see she had grown considerably pale and turned to the healers who were there from what looked like a calm night. Well their slow ass night just ended. "She's been hurt besides the cuts and bruises, her ankle is messed up. She can't walk on her own and her breathing. I think she was having a panic attack." He turned to Maja and held her closer to his person, trying to reassure her with his touch as one of the healers would come to their aid. In the midst of all of this Josef didn't bother to explain his injuries as he was more worried about Maja.

Treating RED #7: Mason Conway

 

When the doors of the Emergency room opened Lieke looked up from her desk. When one of her new healers brought in a bad looking patients on a stretcher, the woman instantly knew it was going to be bad news. She rushed towards the patient, cursing when she saw his state. It was clear they needed to act fast, or the poor boy was going to bleed out. She grabbed the stretcher and started rolling it towards one of the operating rooms, cursing once more when the new healer told her it happened at the charity match. She knew Anastas was there, which worried her to bits, although she really didn't have time to worry about her boyfriend at the moment, when a man and a woman entered the hospital as well, although, thankfully, not in a state as bad as the boy's. "You, prep him for surgery. I'll be there in a moment." She told one of the nurses in the ward. "You two, take one of the beds." She instructed to the man and woman (Josef & Maja) before she returned to her desk, pressing the button of the hospital's intercom. "ALL AVAILABLE HEALERS REPORT TO THE EMERGENCY WARD. CODE RED. I REPEAT, CODE RED" There hadn't been a code red since she started working at St. Mungo's. It was only used when disasters occurred, and damn, this sure as hell was looking like one. She then conjured a patronus, a quokka one, to notify everyone who wasn't in the hospital of the occurrence. If this was as bad as she thought it would be, they needed every single person on hand they could get. As the boy was being prepped for surgery, Lieke turned her attention to the two patients still in the ward. "A nurse will set you up with some oxygen, a healer will tend to you shortly." Or well, she hoped. If any other life threatening situations came in, they would be treated first. It was the first rule of Emergency Care. She then turned to one of the other nurses, giving him instructions on how to handle the new cases as she was going to be operating room for what looked like quite a while.

 

RED #7: Mason Conway - Moved to Operating Room #2

Bringing in ORANGE  #18 Luca Moretto 

 

The portkey in had been quick and held onto Ryan a little tighter as they arrived to the triage unit with Luca hovering besides them in a stretcher. There were already patient flooding in and made her heart race because she just thought of all the people that were in the VIP section which made her wonder if Jared had made it back safely. In all the chaos she couldn't even begin to remember and felt a lump in her throat and a need to get back to the stadium as quickly as possible, since Luca and Ryan were okay. There were healers already privy to what was going on and announced what had happened to the two, "He's sustained what looks like a broken hip. I tried to mend it as best I could and also he has burns on his arms- that I couldn't heal. And our son, Ryan. He looks okay but just bringing him in for further assessment. It's a mad house over there. I'm going back." She gave Ryan another squeeze and handed him off to a healer and looked at Luca was a reassuring smile, "You did good today, love." She said about him protecting Ryan at all costs and apparated back to the mayhem.

[Treating ORANGE #16 & 19 Josef Klassen & Maja Moretto]

 

Most of the healers were gone for the Quidditch match, some for the stadium duty while the others were just there to watch. Due to the shortage of staff and no requirement in the pediatrics section, Elvira was helping out in the long term ward, covering up for the healers and making sure they all received their medications on time. She had just entered her office to relax when she was paged by the Emergency Ward Head Healer and the red warning alert came through soon after. Something terrible had happened or they were never alerted like that. Vira rushed down to the emergency triage as she witnessed patients appearing one after another, sporting the quidditch team merchandise which spoke a lot. Something had happened, definitely. Quickly picking up the necessary requirements, she nodded at the healer who pointed out towards two patients and Vira rushed towards them. The girl was set up with some oxygen with the help of the nursery that helped control her breathing while Elvira focused on assessing the damage that has been done to them.

 

Taking out her wand, Elvira first turned to the man and murmured the cleaning spell. "Tergeo." The wound started getting cleaner from the dust that covered it. She turned to the girl and did the same since both the beds were beside each other making it easy for her to multi-task. The nurse who was helping her out applied the Essence of Murtlap on Josef's cuts based on Elvira's instruction, moving to do the same to Maja. Meanwhile, Elvira moved to the man quickly scanning his arm through magical means. His arm was dislocated and upon closer inspection, she realized he had a broken arm. "Please keep your arm still. Brackium Emendo." Her wand was pointed directly at the broken arm as she muttered the spell. It took effect immediately as she cast the spell, the arm bone repairing itself although the process was highly painful. Broken bones were no joke. Because she had no time to waste, Elvira was moving back and forth between the two beds making sure there were no mess-ups. The woman was a bit more serious than the man so she focused on him first. Quickly afterward, Elvira produced a bandage and with the help of realignment, covered his arm with it. "We will take this off in a few hours. Just stay still while the nurse tends to your bruises." She smiled at him encouragingly, instructing the woman to apply some bruise healing paste before she moved to the woman, Maja. Her cuts and bruises were tended to but there was the matter of the sprained ankle.

Despite everything that was happening to him and Colleen, he would still call her his angel. However, there was no time for thinking since he was trying to stop himself from screaming out in pain and maybe pass out too. He knew something hit him hard and when Colleen as brushed over his hip just barely he knew something bad had happened. He was trying to put on a brave face for his son at the moment he knew that Ryan had been keeping an eye on him and he wanted to show him that nothing hurt daddy but it was starting to prove harder. He knew there was a lot wrong with him and hearing it come out of Colleen only made it that more real to him. He tried sitting up to be able to hold his son, only to hiss in pain when he done so. His arm was starting to hurt more and more now. When the mother of his child looked at him his face was wreaked with pain. "I do anything to protect you all." He hissed out as he moved again and with that she was gone. He hated pain and the fact that he was not really that comfortable. He heard Ryan call out to him and his attention went to the boy. "Hey Ry, it's okay. Daddy will get better." He cooed at his son who had a look of terror on his face. 

[Bringing in RED #5 & #6, Ace and Cassandra Vandale]

 

On Ailsa’s last drop off, everything had just gotten started so the ED was relatively calm…well…by ED standards. Now as she arrived with her two patients by portkey, and all hell had broken out. But again, organized hell. Much more preferable. The minute she arrives, Ailsa drops the portkey, and using her wand, floats the stretcher holding the woman (Cassandra) on it with her husband (Ace) following behind. Need immediate help here! Ailsa calls out, her voice carrying across the ED. As soon as the healer/nurse arrives, she starts rattling everything off. Husband and wife duo. Husband had cut on head, treated on site but needs checked out. Wife is seven months pregnant. Broken wrist treated on site, but she’s bleeding. Can’t tell without pelvic if the sac is still intact. Both need further checks done for further injuries, and both need blood. Her drop off completed, she stays just long enough to answer any further questions before apparating off. Once everyone was sufficiently treated on site or triage, she’d return to the hospital’s comforting chaos.

Treating ORANGE #18: Luca Moretto

 

The Quidditch game, as with their card game, was thrown out the window; and the quiet lull has suddenly evaporated. It was as though they were being ambushed. Lieke's voice rang in the entire waiting room, sending a chill through his spine with the words 'CODE RED.' Suddenly, people came streaming and there was blood everywhere. Immediately, Christian tossed the cards down and calmly walked over to one of the patients on the stretchers and listened to what the woman (Colleen) was saying. Broken hip and burns, she said. Christian scowled though at the mention of a son and he'd turned toward the young boy and sighed, accepting the child as he was passed. "I'll handle it," he assured as the woman left.

 

Christian called a Junior Healer and handed the young boy over with directions on getting a paediatrics healer checking on him and making sure he was okay. Turning his attention over at the man, he smiled faintly as he pulled his wand out. He summoned burn-healing paste and quickly and liberally applied it onto the man's arms. "Your son will be okay, he's in good hands," he murmured. Based on what he observed, there was nothing wrong physically. Emotionally though? That's a whole other ballgame. Once he was done with the paste, he performed a quick examination of the man's hip and waved his wand. "This might hurt a bit," he warned as he cast the spell. "Brackium Emendo." It took some effort because of the size of the bone and the nature of breakage. Christian sighed in relief though, when he saw it in place. It took another wave of his wand to secure bandages—and he was done. "Try and relax now," he advised, putting a hand on the man's shoulder comfortingly. "I'll come back to check on you again. For now, a Junior Healer will be coming over with something for the pain." With that, Christian stepped back then glanced on the other stretchers getting filled up. Who's next?

BRINGING IN ORANGE #9: Nicolas Alcaldo

 

The interaction that had happened with her and this particular patient was by all means one of the craziest snippets she had been a part of and that was saying something since she dealt with women going through labor. She hadn't taken any of his words to heart, though was curious on who the older gentleman was but there was no time for that as she had conjured up a stretcher for the man and portkey'd the hell out of there. She appeared once again at the triage but this time it was more packed than she could remember. Healers were running back and forth, with all hands on desk and with her wand pointed at the stretcher walked to the nearest ED healer, "This man needs immediate attention. He's unconscious and suffered massive blood loss- may be experiencing Hypovolemic shock. I didn't see any other open wounds, but best to check for other gashes. His radius bone was sticking out of his forearm, but fixed that up and wrapped the wound. Needs a blood transfusion STAT." She stayed as long as she needed to, aiding the healer with any other pertinent medical questions and left back to the battlefield. Holy crap this was some shit show. 

Treating RED #5 & #6 Ace and Cassandra Vandale

Flora had been working a typical shift at the hospital when suddenly the place was blowing up with emergency alerts. It was all hands on deck and in the rush of it all, she learned there had been a catastrophe at the stadium. Flora had panicked because her husband, oldest son, and oldest daughter were there, as well as some other extended family. Unfortunately she had to stay put because so many patients were coming in. At present she was called for a patient that was showing signs of trouble with her pregnancy. Flora was Cassandras maternity healer, so she quickly rushed into triage to take her back to a room for healing and treatment. In a self-drivenbymagic wheelchair, Cassandra was brought to the room she would be treated in.

Bringing in RED #2: Jin Marrow

 

Things had gone so wrong so quickly. Addie would normally still be reeling from it all, but she'd had to put that aside for now in order to do her job. She'd only caught a glimpse of the aftermath, but even just from that, she knew things were not good. At all. The Minister had looked to be in rough shape, and she hoped someone managed to tend to her by the time she returned to the stadium. If not, then she'd absolutely make the Minister her next priority. As she and an unconscious Jin landed at Mungo's, she looked sadly over at her boss. Please let the baby be okay. She looked around at the Healers wandering around. "I need help; it's Jin!" she called out to whoever would listen. "She fell and got buried in the rubble—she probably has some broken bones, and I wouldn't be surprised if there was internal bleeding. But I think she's gone into early labour!" Hopefully the healers here would be able to fully assess the extent of her injuries and deal with it accordingly. But there was more than one life at stake here. She hoped dearly that Jin would make it out of this.

Treating RED #2: Jin Marrow

 

Flora had just finished delivering a baby when she'd heard there was another incoming patient in possible labor... and not just any patient, but her best friend and the head healer, Jin! Flora had rushed into triage. "Jin!" she said hurriedly as she rushed toward her. "I've got her from here, Addie. Thank you," she said, taking over. She guided Jin, who was apparently unconscious, to the newly available operating room.

Bringing in RED  #4  Alaric Severus Byrne

 

Ralph portkeyed to the Emergency room at St. Mungo's with Alaric. He had done all the first aid he can do on him but since he has internal bleeding, there's only much he can do out there without the right potions and equipment. Putting the patient on one of the available beds, he called on any available healer but the emergency ward was in chaos. A lot of patients were being brought in from the match and it was honestly overwhelming, especially since he was at the stadium when it happened. Once a healer came to take over, Ralph went through the run down of his early diagnosis. "Male, early twenties. Dislocated shoulder and broken leg bone but I was able to do first aid on those. Fell from a great height. Head trauma and internal bleeding. He needs to be operated on quickly." Once he was sure that Alaric would be take care of, he disapparated and went back to the pitch to help out further.

She was momentarily angry at Josef for taking her to the hospital without giving her the opportunity to look for her family -- as if she'd be able to. They had arrived in St. Mungo's and Maja was coughing intensely, still retching and just wanting to sit down as she felt weak as hell. She could barely walk but that was the least of her worries as of now, looking pale, and had to push Josef away for a second as she grew considerably sick. It was the panic, the anxiety, the smoke and dust, and her nausea that caused her to throw up all that she had drank during the match, which hadn't been that much, not having eaten anything but some fruit as she had been lacking appetite. "Your... your arm," she wiped the corners of her mouth with the back of her hand, and searched for his with her free one as the hospital called for all Healers and many of them started apparating with more victims. She moved onto one of the beds with Josef's help, feeling awful, but too worried and too sick to lay down. "They need to see you too, Josef," Maja looked up at him, tears rolling down her face. "Are you okay? I need to know you're okay," adding one more number to potential victims would crush her.

 

But Colleen had arrived with both Luca and Ryan, and she felt relief washing over her as she started crying even harder. "Luca! Ryan!" Colleen seemed unscathered, and she placed a hand on her chest, feeling like she could breathe again, though she still needed to see Zora. She wanted to move to be by Luca's and Ryan's side, but couldn't even stand up. Besides, they had given her some oxygen already, and tried to calm down, though being the area where everyone arrived made it very difficult. Soon enough, a Healer had approached them, and she didn't let go of Josef's hand while they were treated, looking over to where Luca and Ryan had been left and reassured the little boy everything would be okay with a smile and even blew some kisses at him, despite how terrible she felt.

Bringing in RED #1: Minister Fallon Steelgrave 

 

Not wasting any more time, JC, together with Jared, porkeyed the Minister to St. Mungo's. Their critically ill patient needed further checks at the emergency section of the hospital. It was a challenge to transport the Minister as it’s usually high risk of illness and mortality for this kind of patient while traveling. They already did all the possible first aid but they can only do much while on site. They don’t have the proper equipment to operate on the Minister. As soon as they entered the door, JC called out to the emergency ward healers, “This is high priority patient!!! It’s the Minister, give some room and prepare the operating room, ASAP!!! ” He stopped the floating stretcher, one of the assistant healers provided him the hospital robes and gloves. JC paused and brushed his hand through his hair. He suddenly felt so exhausted with just one patient. He had never seen such worse condition.  While JC wore the robe and gloves, he also noticed the emergency room is filling up fast with other patients. He looked at the assistant healer, "Please prepare the IV fluid, someone needs to check the blood type, we need blood transfusion as soon as possible." he then look at Jared, "Ready?"

Bringing in ORANGE  #1 Beckett Evans 

 

Ralph brought the boy to the hospital. He had tried his best to give him first aid by clearing out his airways and minor injuries. He can’t work on his fractured leg and broken hips in a non-sterile environment. Plus they need to do a head scan to make sure that there were no head injuries. Ralph brought the boy into one of the available beds. "We need a healer here! Broken hips, fractured leg bone that broke the skin. Possible blasted eardrums." Once the boy was carted to be operated on, he left the emergency room to bring more people in, or help at the hospital once he had done everything he can at the pitch. More people needs help.

Josef was expecting Maja to be angry at him, but in her state she couldn't possibly go and look for her family. Her protests had made him feel utterly guilty, but felt his decision had been the right one, no matter how hard it was. He allowed her the space that she needed, but hovered close by, growing more worried by the second at the state of her. She was clearly suffering from smoke inhalation and in between her panic for her family had exasperated that feeling. He tried to reassure her that everything was going to be okay but he was growing desperate, but luckily a healer had quickly directed them to take one of the beds and moved carefully with Maja so she could take a seat on the bed. He needed her to calm down and smiled warmly at her, a smile that was only reserved for her as no one had brought that side out of him until he had met her. Cara He used the nickname that he cooed with such endearment and gently wiped away her tears, "You need to calm down, Maja. I am okay. Don't worry about my arm. Here." He grabbed her hand and placed it over his chest. "And now breathe in. It doesn't have to be deep just calm and controlled. Look at me. Everyone is going to be okay. We have the best healers out there and you're going to see all of them again." For her sake he just hoped that her family was okay and then when Ryan and Luca had appeared, along with Colleen he felt he could breathe easier too. He waved at the boy and gave a nod towards her brother, but turned his attention to the healer as she arrived to assess the damage. The fix was quick for him, never letting go of Maja's hand, but was more invested in her being able to get the proper treatment. They had given her oxygen, which was something that helped but was still concerned, "Thank you. Are there any other tests that have to be run for her? She took in a lot of smoke. We were right in the thick of it so we were surrounding by just the black soot of it all." He said as he looked at the healer earnestly.

Treating RED #4 Alaric Severus Byrne

 

It had been a super slow night. A super super slow night. Until it wasn't.

 

Aura had been in the waiting room with the other healers for barely 5 minutes it seemed, when a loud voice of Healer Maes came booming through the corridors, causing her to startle immediately and then get up and rush towards the emergency ward triage. As she reached the area, she could see that it was a mess. Already. There were healers, and patients apparating left, right and center. And in the midst of it all, Aurelie was trying to get the sense of everything that happened from her fellow healers. Apparently, a bomb had gone off in the quidditch match. A stunned silence from her had followed from her after she had heard that, because..wasn't she been planning to go to the match? Not going had been such a last minute decision on her end. And look at how the match had turned round. 

 

She looked on as so many important people were wheeled in. So many officials, the minister herself, the players. Her eyes widened as she saw the latest patient that was being registered. Alaric Byrne. Wasn't she just watching him on television the other day? And now the guy looked as good as dead. Without sparing much time, Aura rushed to his side, and took his clipboard. "Details?" She asked the attending nurse, and after hearing the run down gave a short nod. "Prepare operating room #1 please. Possibly open skull surgery will be required. Get all the stats in, and we need him plugged to the machine. This can go horribly wrong.." She murmured, before leaving the nurse to her work, as she went to change into her surgical gown. As she looked around the area, she was pretty sure she wouldn't need to take off her surgical gown. There were too many patients, and a lot many seriously injured ones. What was happening.
