TREATING RED 7: MASON CONWAY

 

Her easy shift turned into one of the most challenging one in her entire career in the blink of an eye. Anastas' wellbeing was still in the back of her mind as she started to change into her special gear and washed her hands. She had no idea how bad the situation was, but not knowing had her thinking the worst. For all she knew he could have been in the centre of it all and she'd have to treat him next.... or worse... However, Lieke was professional enough to push those thoughts from her mind as she stepped into the operating room. Lieke took a deep breath as she examined the boy's injuries. His chest was a mess, there were burns, and Ailsa told her he had been unconscious for a while now. Lieke administered an IV with an anaesthetic potion, before she hovered her wand above the boy's chest. "Videre Internus." The woman said clearly, creating a hologram of the boy's chest. Lieke ended up cursing when she saw one of his arteries was punctured by a piece of his shattered ribs. She disinfected the boy's chest before she made an incision with her wand. "Clamps." She said to the nurse assisting her. Lieke swiftly administered the clamps, giving her a better view of the boy's internal organs. "Suction." Lieke instructed, waiting until she had a better view of the artery before she slowly started to magically remove the few shattered pieces of rib bones, before stitching the burst artery. Again, she used the Videre Internus spell to check if she didn't miss anything. She also casted the spell at the boy's head, making sure she didn't miss any injuries there either. The boy had lost a lot of blood due to the punctured artery, no wonder the boy lost consciousness. He was basically bleeding out from inside of him. When she felt confident enough, Lieke focused on the ribs itself, after adding a blood-replenishing potion to the boy's IV. "Episkey." The healer said, watching the ribs mend before stitching him back up. All that was left were the burns. "The Burn Paste, please." She told the nurse. When she got handed the paste, she started to apply the paste to the boy's wounds. There was nothing much left the healer could do. Lieke nodded in the nurse's direction, allowing her to move the boy to the recovery room. Lieke didn't have any time to spare though. There were enough patients waiting her help right now. She'd get back to him once the nurses told her it was necessary.

[Healer Flora Weasley]

Treating RED #2: Jin Marrow

 

Flora brought Jin into the operating room, where her assistant maternity healer had helped place the woman on the bed. Jin was in horrible condition, that much was obvious, but her priority was to save the baby. It became immediately clear that Jin was in labor and the baby was on the way, whether Jin was ready or not and in this case, she definitely was not. This explosion had created mass trauma all around, but for new mothers it was a whole spin on the nightmare. Flora set about examining the status of the pregnancy, determining the urgency of this emergency delivery. Jin also had internal bleeding, she could tell from her other examination, and she could sense there were broken bones, though those could be mended in a heartbeat. She gave instructions for her assistant healer to prepare for the emergency delivery while she fetched a concoction to address Jin's more severe medical needs, the ones that could be tended in the interim.

One moment she was asking security to escort someone and was walking back to her couch and the next she was on a pile of rubble and splintered woods. There was smoke everywhere, there was even a fire if her eyes didn't deceive her. There were also screams and chaos and it was just plain horrible. But she couldn't concentrate on any of those because she was more focused on her baby... and how her dress was all wet. Despite her injuries, she noticed that and she knew the baby is in trouble. She didn't have time to cushion her fall because it was all unexpected. She landed hard, it was really bad. There were still some debris falling down and she remembered curling up to protect her baby, but that was the last she could remember. She had no idea that she's currently on the operating table, fighting for both her life and her baby's.

[Healer Flora Weasley]

Flora was going to do everything in her power to take care of Jin and her baby. Her head was completely in the operating room with her, ordering her assistant healer to do various things to prepare for the surgery. With Jin unconscious, there was no other way to do the delivery. Flora set about with the surgery, making the incisions with a steady hand, working around the blood and making her way into the womb. The pregnancy was around seven months along, much like her last patient had been, and while this was an early delivery, Flora was positive she could keep the baby alive if she worked quickly. She removed the baby from the womb, severed the umbilical chord, and cleared the baby's airways with a special tool. Then she transferred the baby to the assistant healer, who cleaned the baby and did the examination on the baby while Flora sealed Jin's incisions and looked after her for her other wounds. She found the internal bleed, where there was bloating, and used a spell to heal the source of the bleed. She identified the breaks in her ribs and other parts of her body and set about mending those bones. All in all, Jin was in the operating room for a significant amount of time. The scariest part was that Flora was not able to bring Jin to consciousness, causing her to determine that her friend had fallen into a coma. Her heart thudded in her chest, but her friend was alive and so was the baby. The baby had been taken into the NICU unit to be looked after due to the early delivery. For now, Flora needed to transfer Jin to another room where she could be monitored now that she wasn't in any immediate, lethal danger.

[Healer Elvira Stainslavska]

Treating Red # 11. Bianca Haro

 

"Can I have a junior healer here please?" Vira called out as she hurried into the operating room. The body of the woman was lowered on the operating bed, Elvira drawing the curtains of the Emergency room. "Videre Internus," The holographic imagery hovered on the top as she scanned the entire body for the injuries, taking a few seconds to examine the damage they had done. There was a moderate concussion on her brain, and some ruptures of the thin membranes of the vestibular system which could cause hearing problems but Ms. Haro will be required to wake up for further examination. Vira started with the wound cleaning potion, dabbing the cotton on the wounds and casting Tergeo wherever required to be quick in her process. "Wipe over the bruises softly and then apply the burn healing paste over the burns." She instructed the junior healer as she focused on her head trauma. Meanwhile, she moved over to the ankle sprains, giving them a cold compression to stop the swelling, compressing it further with the bandages produced by her wand. "Once you are done with the burns, please move to the bruises. Apply dittany and murtlap where necessary and for the rest, you can apply the bruise healing paste." She instructed him further moving finally towards the head injury

Simon was summoned in the operation theater by one of the senior healers who needed help with one of the patients. He wore the medical gears reading through the advisory sheet of the patient being treated inside. Being a junior healer, Simon simply has to follow the lead. He dipped the sponge in the potion, cleaning the wounds where the dust was covering and hiding. The potion cleaned up all the infection that was possibly growing because of the dirt. Simon used tergeo to quicken his pace and once all the burns and bruises were clean, he started slowly applying the burn healing paste to the burns.

The orange paste covered most of the burn marks on the legs and arms. The bruises were much worse due to the pressure of the debris that has fallen on the woman. There were some that needed dittany. Simon is grateful that she is unconscious as it helps him heal her without her screaming in pain. He applied the murtlap essence on the wounds that can cause a burning sensation. The ones that were minor were treated with the bruise healing paste, the thick yellow cream covered most of her injured body. The lady's arms and legs look like a mixture of yellow and orange with different medications applied. Simon moved ahead waiting for any further instructions.

[Healer Elvira Stainslavska]

"Videre Internus." The spell produced a green mist from her wand assessed the damage done to her head and ears. The eardrums were blocked but she can tell the damage is not permanent. She had also received a slight skull fracture according to the hologram. Putting on her gloves, Vira focused on the realignment of the skull bone manually, but very carefully. The brain was one of the most sensitive part of the human body and a single mistake could cause severe consequences. Once the bones were aligned with the help of the spell, she pointed her wand. "Brackium Emendo." It took several minutes but the next time she checked, the bones were repaired and there were no missing pieces either. Taking a breather, she moved further to scan once more. The brain injury was fixed but she had to make sure there were no further symptoms that were causing her harm. Her attention was moved to the eardrums and Vira turned to Simon as he finished treating the bruises. The damages on the girl were severe which meant she must be close to the explosion area. How did it even happen? Security was tight everywhere so it does not make sense. "Tergeo." She cleaned the ear areas, using the torchlight as her guide. "Hold this and point it downwards." The eardrums were affected by the explosion and it could be possible either if the explosion sound had a direct impact on her ear or if the debris had fallen anywhere near her head. Vira read the reports handed over by the previous healer who brought her in and she grimaced as the latter came into view. She got back to work, performing a quick suction to clear the blockage, Elvira cleaned the final bits up with the anti-bacterial potion. "Give her the calming draught once she awakes and make sure she stays the night for further examining." She informed Simon, handing him instructions that she quickly wrote so he won't miss any of it. The ears weren't damaged severely so she was sure in case Ms. Haro faced any hearing loss, it will be temporary but she would check once she is awake to take more accurate notes. "You can move Ms. Haro to the recovery area. If anything, call me." Checking once more that her bruises and cuts were cleaned and taken care of, she helped the junior healer move her so the room can be used by someone else.

[Healer Marthine Homstad]

Blaine grinned at Hunter when the man congratulated them on their upcoming baby. "Thanks man." He said, a proud grin covering his face. Blaine had been over the moon when they found out Nienor was pregnant and the birth of the baby couldn't come soon enough. Well, after nine months of course, for the safety of the baby. The were times when the quidditch player was nervous about becoming a dad, but hell. He was going to have his own family. Blaine chuckled when Hunter said his son wanted to set some signatures from his dad's team mates. ​"Why don't you bring him one day, after practice?" He asked. Their manager probably wouldn't be a fan of them interrupting practice sessions, but a few signatures after the game wouldn't be an issue. "We can all sign him a jersey or something." That was better than some signature of a napkin, or whatever would be the next best thing they could find here. "Is he planning on becoming a quidditch player too?" He asked conversationally. 

 

Blaine unfortunately couldn't suppress his laughter when the minister scared off the journalists, who managed to get out of there within seconds after the minister's little outburst. Now, Blaine never had an issue talking to the press, he just liked to be prepared when he was. As the game started, Blaine was on the edge of his seat, closely following all the players, the bludgers, the quaffle, and explaining the different strategies and moves to his girlfriend. He was simply too excited to shut his mouth. All of a sudden, a deafening sound erupted from underneath him and before he could realise, the VIP stand collapsed into the ground. After his landing, Blaine experienced a short moment of unconsciousness before he came back again. He was covered by a few beams, crushing his right upper side of his torso. The man touched his throbbing head. Blaine felt some wetness as he touched his skin and when his hand came back into his vision again, the blood on his hand made his stomach turn, but still, his main worry was his girlfriend and their unborn child. "Nin..."

Treating RED #12. Blaine Totterdale

 

That eventful day was probably the most exhausting and traumatic too for the blonde healer. Throughout the years of her career as a healer, Marthine had been through and treated people during disasters but it was only that day she had experienced real hell of a tragedy herself. Not only that, she has never seen that such number of mortality in a single day that is due to a simulated accident as well. But she had to keep moving or set those thoughts behind, else these people will have to add to those numbers. Taking a deep breath, Marthine put on the surgical gloves while checking on the man's vitals. His blood pressure has been steady for now but the healer feared it would go down if she doesn't find the source of the bleeding and stop it sooner. Exactly a minute after the magical anesthesia has been administered, Marthine started the operation. She turned to the junior healers and spoke. "How are his vitals?" The junior healer nodded to inform her that it was stable. Lifting her wand, she pointed her wand to his chest and muttered the body-imaging spell. As soon as the hologram appeared before her, she was able to clearly his injuries now since the what was left of the VIP area earlier has no enough lighting earlier. His upper right rib and clavicle has been seriously damaged and has punctured few of his major blood vessels. "I will have to stop the bleeding in his subclavian artery first." Sucking a deep breath, Marthine took the scalpel and opened up his chest. While one of the junior healers assisted her, she took the time to locate the punctured artery. However, the blood from the punctured vessel was obscuring her view of his organs. Luckily, the broken rib has not damaged his right lung severely, else it would be a larger struggle. "I've got it. Give me the Essence of Dittany." After she was given the bottle of the potion, Marthine carefully put a few drops and waited until the blood vessel has healed, then to the area of his lung that was slightly damaged. She was able to breathe a little now. Just a few more... "Now give him the Skele-gro through his IV. Then I'll close him up." She has been through a lot of operations like this before but it was the most stressful she ever had. Plus, being the one of the on-call healers to the disaster site has taken its toll on her on her today. After this, after everyone has fully recovered, all of them deserved a break. Marthine sighed in relief while she waited for the bone-mending potion to take effect. Still using the Videre Internus spell, she examined the parts which still needs to be treated. The potion was working well with his bones so she started to close him up. "Tergeo... Episkey!" She muttered and the open area started to heal itself. She turned to the junior healer and removed her surgical mask. "Let's move him to the recovery room and give him diuretics and anti-seizure potions for his head trauma. I'll check up on him from time to time.  He should be awake in 9 to 24 hours." Marthine smiled but remembered something. "And oh, can you check up on the Maternity Ward? I want to know what happened to his partner. She's pregnant." She then walked out of the operating room and headed to her office to get changed. It's been a loooong daaaaaaay.
