Christmas Address

Members of HO:

On behalf of all the governors, I'd like to wish all of our members a very Merry Christmas and a happy, healthy New Year! Christmas is a time to cherish and celebrate those people in your life that are special. Each year at this time, I can't help but think of those dear loved ones who will not be with me and remember the good times we spent together. I especially love to do the traditions that were passed down to me, such as baking lots of festive desserts!

Remember too that the key to life, is the people you surround yourself with. Your loved ones should always be first in your life, and you should work to spend time and create memories with them for in the end memories will be all that is left.

Love of family and friends is the strongest magic that there is. Throughout the Harry Potter series we find and hear this echoed several times. First with Lily Potter's love for her son, and finally in the end when Harry is willing to sacrifice himself for the welfare of his friends. As we move into the new year, I would like to challenge everyone to go the extra mile for those they love and call family or friends.

Merry Christmas!

For this lesson, we will be looking at lists, particularly lists of the past and present governors and heads of house. We'll talk more about eras in our next lesson.

THE HOMEWORK

Put your investigative cap on! You get to do some research of your own. To the best of your ability, please create a list of the Deputy Heads of House for each house. You'll need to contact professors and students who have been around a while to help you out. Also, the student(s) with most correct wins an additional 50 points.

All completed assignments should be emailed to cclemenceau@hswcw.com, the subject must be HIST203: Lesson 2.

HIST203: History of Hogwarts Online - Lesson 1

THE LESSON

The founding of Hogwarts Online was much more than just a singular date in time, it was nearly 1 year of building, rebuilding, pains, struggles, and joys. The founding period began with the date of opening: July 26, 2005 and ended on September 1, 2006 which was the first day of the new year when we switched over to terms lasting several months as opposed to 1 month increments. What follows is a first hand account of the events that took place during the first year.

The concept of Hogwarts Online was began by a group of friends that always hung out. However at the time it wasn't called Hogwarts Online. The original school was called "Armoise Acadamy" however it might as well of been Hogwarts. Felix Felicius, Violet Brown, Oliver Biggerstaff, Fiona Weasley, and last and least Chloe Stargate. These 5 friends each took on a vital role in the school. The ring leader of the group was Felix Felicius. Armoise Academy officially opened on July 26, 2005.

Oliver Biggerstaff, real life brother of Felix Felicius, was made the Headmaster of this newly formed school that had it's humble beginnings on ProBoards. Oliver really wasn't all that interested in Harry Potter, but followed along because all his other friends were into it. Oliver would serve as the first Astronomy professor, even though he never did teach a single lesson.

Felix Felicius, later known as Chauncey Clemenceau, would serve as the first Deputy Headmaster and Head of Gryffindor. Since history/social studies was his favorite subject in muggle high school, Felix decided to teach History of Magic.

Violet Brown, best friend to Felix & Oliver, would serve as the very first Head of Hufflepuff. Violet would also be the first Herbology professor. Violet and Felix got into a fight and real life and Violet left Armoise Academy. Felix also felt it best to leave and did so as well.

Fiona Weasley was a very interesting character. She went to school with Violet in real life and had just moved into the neighborhood with Felix, Oliver, Violet and Chloe. Fiona served as the first Head of Ravenclaw and taught Potions in the icky dungeons of the new site. Fiona was almost never on and eventually got lost in a dungeon and was never heard from again.

Lastly and again the least, Chloe Stargate was the person in this group of friends that was least liked. As many of you may have guessed she served as the first Head of Slytherin and coincidentally broke off much like Salazar Slytherin to form a school made up of a selected group of students. She did not agree with anything the other governors did.

This group of governors, which are commonly known as the "First Generation" lasted less than two weeks. However the foundation that they set helped to ensure that this new school would last.

When Chloe left (she was the first to leave) Felix searched the web, far and wide and found a curious character named Atalanta Prosperpina. Atalanta was named the second Head of Slytherin and she chose to teach Arithmancy. Atalanta, like almost all of the original governors lasted less than a few weeks.

When Felix and Violet fought they both left. Felix changed his name to Chauncey Clemenceau and became the school's second Headmaster. Violet and Felix eventually made up and Violet returned as Abigail Fosdyke. Abigail didn't last for long but she took the same positions as Violet.

Eventually the original group of governors left Chauncey. Chauncey was left as the soal leader of the school for about month before he convinced his friend from school to come and be the Transfiguration professor and lead Gryffindor. Lily Ravenbeak became the second Head of Gryffindor and the Deputy Headmistress.

The next (not second) generation of the governors board consisted of really two people: Chauncey and Lily. Lily becam consumed with real life things and eventually moved on and left Hogwarts (which had changed its name from Armoise.)

Chauncey soon met Amelia Podmore, who took on Head of Ravenclaw and was quickly appointed Head of Ravenclaw when Lily resigned. Amelia didn't last long because the person behind Amelia was a mid schooler that had to spend more time at school which was the most important thing.

It was at this time that the tiny, newly created site began to shut down and close. Hogwarts on ProBoards closed forever on September 30, 2005. Chauncey moved Hogwarts over to InvisionsFree, and began a new hoping that this move would change his luck and that he would be able to keep a staff for longer than a few weeks. To his surprise it did. A young Hufflepuff named Isis Imengamoor started a campaign to save the school and her hard work paid off. Chauncey hired a new deputy head, Prof. Malimar Snute. Malimar was the best thing to ever happen to Hogwarts Online.

Malimar taught Defense Against the Dark Arts. She was also the Head of Hufflepuff and Chauncey's right hand woman. Malimar took up the hefty task of highering good and dedicated staff. Malimar single handedly brought to Hogwarts Online some of the best Professor's the site has ever seen. In one term, Malimar hired: Prof. Ginny Tonks (Head of Gryffindor), Prof. Bella Lombardi (Head of Ravenclaw), Prof. Luna Creevy (Head of Slytherin), and last but certainly not least, Prof. Ann-Louise Omagan.

This site had become an over night success thanks to the hard work and dedication of Prof. Malimar Snute. In the late fall of 2005, Chauncey (through a plot) left as the Headmaster of Hogwarts. Hogwarts was left in the capable hands of Malimar who led the school well for the month of November 2005. To this day NO term compares to the success that Hogwarts Online has seen since that very first term.

Prof. Malimar Snute became pregnant in real life and could no longer keep up the work load of being the Headmistress so the helm of the now thriving school was handed over to Prof. Bella Lombardi that successfully led the school for one month. However the new year did not prove to be a blessing. In early January 2006 Prof. Bella Lombardi resigned as Headmistress and departed for Durmstrang.

Chauncey, who by this point was a complete wreak, called on a faithful professor. Ann-Louise Omagan rose to the occasion and became the fifth Head of the school in January. Since almost 50% of the active school left for Durmstrang with Prof. Bella Lombardi and Prof. Raiden Yakuza. Another new Professor, Ophelia DeLoch was appointed to the position of Deputy Headmistress while Chauncey left for Beauxbatons.

Chauncey didn't remain at Beauxbatons for more than a month and he quickly moved back to Hogwarts Online. Thus began the "Second Generation" of Hogwarts Governors. The three governros grew very close and worked very hard to maintain Hogwarts Online's activity levels. Soon their after, Healer Joseph Echizen was appointed Head of Ravenclaw and Governor. For almost three months things worked out very well. The school had pulled through one of the toughest times in the history of the site.

However, an even number of governors would never work. So in late February 2006 Prof. Anna Darkstar returned from Durmstrang and became a governor. This "Third Generation" of governors lasted for about 4 months before tensions among them came to a boil and the governors made the tough decision to remove Healer Joseph Echizen from the Governors board in June of 2006.

In July of 2006 Healer Joseph Echizen was fired from all positions on Hogwarts Online, Head Healer of the school hospital, Head of Ravenclaw, and Care of Magical Creatures. In that same month, a force came about that attempted to oust Prof. Ophelia DeLoch. On July 17, 2006, Prof. DeLoch submitted a formal resignation.

The governors board was back down to three only this time, it didn't last for long. Soon, Prof. DeLoch was invited back, but in the forum of Prof. Connor McCoy. This arrangment didn't last for long because there was a even number. So the governors hotly debated adding another governor. But who to add. The governors couldn't settle on just one new governor, so instead they voted in two new governors. Prof. Katelynn Deluca (Head of Ravenclaw) and Prof. Deana Debrouchee. On September 12, 2006 (The day after the start of the Fall 2006 Term), both Prof. Anna Darkstar and Prof. Connor McCoy resigned all of their positions on Hogwarts Online.

THE HOMEWORK

Contact any active member of Hogwarts Online that was active prior to September 1, 2006. I've compiled a list, but specifically left a few people out, if you by chance can locate and interview one member not listed I'll give you an extra 50 points. Here's a list of members to contact for this assignment.

[] Prof. Ann-Louise Montgomery
[] Prof. Rici Devlin
[] Prof. Adreia Kragen
[] Prof. Dakota Kane
[] Prof. Rhoslyn Kane
[] Prof. Stella Giordano

Your task is to interview the member, and get as much information from them as you can. You can either submit this homework in question/answer interview form, or in paragraphs. To be awarded the full 100 points I'm looking for at least 5 paragraphs, or roughly 15 questions to be asked.

All completed assignments should be emailed to cclemenceau@hswcw.com, the subject must be HIST203: Lesson 1.

HIST203: History of Hogwarts Online - Syllabus

INTRODUCTION
History of Hogwarts Online will allow students to discover the long and colorful past of this beloved site. This course is not going to be like any other offered on Hogwarts presently. The bulk of this class's information will be posted here in the announcements. There will be no class website nor will their be a class forum. THIS IS NOT AN RP CLASS, there will not be any rping for this class. This class is self paced and all the information for the class will be posted before the first day of class.

COURSE OUTLINE
This course will be divided into three sections:

[]January – The Founding
[]February – The People
[]March – The Eras

Each section will show case a certain aspect of the site, starting with our very long and sometimes unpleasant beginnings. For February we’ll look into depth about the people who have made up HO and finally in March we’ll look at how the site has changed throughout the years.

ASSIGNMENTS
Each month there will be an assignment due, the entire grade will be based off of the four assignments (3 homeworks and 2 test). You must complete and pass at least 3 of the three assignments to earn a quill. The homeworks will all be due at the last day of classes for the Winter Term, which is March 11. The test will be due no later than March 16. The homeworks will be investigative type work, and the exam will be an essay choice. This should be a very easy quill. Each homework is worth 100 points, and the exam is worth 200.

QUILL REQUIREMENT
You must complete and pass at least 3 of the three assignments to earn a quill.

Quidditch Standings:

Greetings,

After the incredible start of Fall Term 2011 Quidditch Season, here are the Cup actual standings:

Teams: Gryffindor: 300
Slytherin: 160
Ravenclaw: 150
Hufflepuff: 0

Players:
M.V.P. Nominations:
Gryffindor Seeker Hugo Costa
Slytherin Seeker Ivy Borden
Slytherin Chaser Scorpius Malfoy
Gryffindor Chaser Lyra Elani

Runner up Player nominations:
Hufflepuff Keeper Reginald Tonner
Hufflepuff Chaser Olivia Tavish
Ravenclaw Seeker Kurt Spencer
Ravenclaw Keeper Desdaemona Rhodes

The Quidditch Cup, to be played in begins of December will be disputed between the first two teams in the end of championship. By now it’s Gryffindor and Slytherin for the cup but there are still two very important games to be played. Decisive games I would say. Hufflepuff Vs Ravenclaw and Gryffindor Vs Slytherin, which means all is to be decided in these last games and all its open for the big final.
The same goes for Players awards. More nominations will be added until the end of the season. And, at December 17th, a ceremony to award the cup and the season awards will take place.

I really hope you all are enjoying this Quidditch season. I and Prof. Sorcha are doing our bests for it.

Thanks

Happy 6th Anniversary HO!

HO Members,

I usually like to make this address on the actual Anniversary of HO, but since this year our wonderful JW has planned a week full of activities, I'll go ahead and post it now.

You, the members of HO -new and old- have helped to shape HO. Every single members plays a role in the history and legacy of this site. This past year on HO has been one full of major changes, not unlike many of the years in the past, however this year we made a major change in our forum and moved to jcink. I am truly honored that all of the members of HO have made the transition with us.

In addition to the major change in that aspect, we are also embarking on a new adventure never attempted in this fashion. This adventure I speak of is the opening of two of the other schools from the HP Series. In the past we've had separate sites dedicated to these schools, but they've unfortunately never lasted. This time around, we've located them right here on this board. I would like to applaud the hard work and dedication of both the headmaster of Durmstrang Prof. Nicholas Volynski & the headmistress of Beauxbatons Madame Giselle D'Lisle for their hard work and dedication to this project.

With that said, I'd like to thank everyone past and present for making HO the success that it is! We are an online community that, may not always be perfect, but we're a place to make great friends, that often feel like family, and in some case have become family through marriage.

Best Wishes for a Bright Future!

New Gryffindor Head of House

I am very sad to announce that due to some unforeseeable events Prof. Ryland Mrotek has asked to step down from Head of House. I, and the rest of the gov board, would like to thank Prof. Mrotek at this time for all his hard work as Deputy Head of House and his short time as Head of House. He had been a great asset to Gryffindor in many ways and he will be missed. I please ask that you not bombard Prof. Mrotek with personal messages (pms) and yims on or offline. He will let it be known when he is back and ready for action. Once more I thank Prof. Ryland Mrotek for all his time and effort.

With the sad news out of the way I am proud to announce that Healer Alana Forrester has been offered and accepted the post of Gryffindor Head of House. I am sure she will make Gryffindor proud with her leadership of the house. Please join me in welcoming her to this post.

April 6, 2008

As many of you know, this is the first issue of the Great Hall News is near 3 months, so there is A LOT to cover.

First off, we’d like to give a big congratulations to Professor Sorcha MacSween and Professor and Steven D’Souza, who are to be married on April 15th. Congratulations professors!

Speaking of happy families, the Lashes (Evan and Professor Felicity Amello-Lash) welcomed a set of twins into the world April 1st, Eliaabeth Rose and Callen Michael. We wish all the other pregnant professors and staff good luck with their bundles of joy!

In other news, Hogwarts is proud to welcome a new club to its wide variety. The Horticulture Club, run by Professor Felicity Amello-Lash focuses mainly on plants and gardening. And on a related note, the Blood Alliance had its first meeting earlier this week, and it was a huge success!

We'd like to welcome the following professors that are new to our community for the Spring Term 2008: Prof. Adreia Kragen, Prof. Arias Armarda, Prof. Audrey Adams, Prof. Ephiny Athanasiou, Prof. Eric Tenshia, Prof. Estigoy Gatchalian, Prof. Lena Svarri, Prof. Maya Aditya, Prof. Ren Tamiko, Prof. Tamara Guffey, Prof. Unum Unimportante, Prof. Yari Santan, Prof. Zafirenia Ziaras.

We have a total of 13 new professors, 52 total professors, and 90 classes! What an accomplishment. This term is definitely our most popular term!

And last but not least, it seems Spring Term (the FINAL term of the year) is hot on our trail. Classes officially start April 14th, so students be sure to enroll in your classes as soon as possible, and remember that you need 3 quills to go onto the next year, fifth years must pass 3 of their OWLs and seventh years need to complete their NEWTs in order to graduate.

It appears that even though the Chancellor of Education removed Prof. Ann-Louise Omagan, he was under the imperious curse. One can only imagine who put him under the imperious curse.... At any rate, after sorting through this mess that Lydia's left the Chancellor has reinstated Ann-Louise Omagan, as well as her faithful governors: Prof. Bryant Waters, Prof. Chauncey Clemenceau, Prof. Isabella Robins, & Prof. Luna Creevy. At this time the culprit behind the imperiod Chancellor has not be located, we're going to remain on high alert around Hogwarts.

-------------------

Professor Applications for the Fall Term 2007 have opened! All those interested in becoming a professor should first read the professor handbook found here: Hogwarts Handbook: Chapter 10. After reading the handbook, please fill out an application by clicking here. Professor Applications will close August 25, 2007. Professors for the Fall Term 2007 will be announced on August 26, 2007. If there are any questions, please contact Prof. Clemenceau ASAP.

-------------------

Prof. Jerzi Spinner and Prof. Isabella Robins have been going through the clubs and PMs Prof. Isabella Robins have gotten regarding clubs and have made some decisions on the clubs we currently have. The current clubs are the Junior Wizengamot, Animagus Guild, Maurauders, Banner Club, Book Club, Dueling Club, and Drama Club.

Junior Wizengamot: Prof. Bryant Waters runs this club with head students and prefects. This club plans schoolwide events and is currently active. We have decided to keep it around, of course, since it is needed and it's a great club.

Animagus Guild. Master Jacob Matthews will be taking over this club. He is going to try to bring this club into some great activity and get some plans made for it so it can be more active. It seems like it could be a great opportunity for the Animagi of the school and we wish them luck.

Mauraders' Club. This is a student run club who's main goal is mischief. A professor will not run it, of course, and will remain since it's fun for this group of kids.

Banner Club. This club will be moderated by two professors: Prof. Jerzi Spinner and me, Prof. Isabella Robins. It is going to be re-organized and all old posts will be archived. It's a very active club, and needs to dedicated professors to keep it running smoothly.

Book Club will be headed by Prof. Sorcha MacSween and Roisin Doyle. It is active, and has been for awhile, so we see no need to change the moderator.

Dueling Club needs for the Professor Moderator and Student Moderator to PM me or Jerzi Spinner as soon as possible. We need to make sure this club is active, which we believe it is. Drama Club. This, as far as we know, has no activity. Therefore we have decided to scrap it.

Happy 2 Years Hogwarts Online! I'd like to thank all of our members, for this is a day that should be celebrated! On this very day, two years ago Hogwarts Online was founded as Armoise Academy. Thank you for all the memories and for all the great times members!

The Chancellor of Education has announced a new decree:

"With the power vested in me by the Ministry of Magic under the esteemed Ministress Valencia, I hereby release Prof. Chauncey Clemenceau from his position as the Assistant Chancellor of Education at the ministry of magic for complete incompetency and I also expect to see Prof. Ann-Louise Omagans resignation from her position as Headmistress of Hogwarts on my desk in the morning or I will have to release her as well.

Signed,

Drake Ashland
Chancellor of Education"

Prof. Ann-Louise Omagan later handed in her resignation:

"To Mr. Drake the Chancellor of Education, the Governors, Most Respected Staff, and Students of Hogwarts

After reading the Ministry Decree, I have decided that in these times, it is best I let the 'professionals' handle these situations for there are to be dark times ahead of hogwarts. The Ministry has called for my resignation and after much consideration to the events that occurred in the great hall, I have decided to step down.

I hope that the Ministry can retain the order within the walls of Hogwarts as it seems that I am unable to do so. I thank all of you who have supported me in the previous years and wish hogwarts only the best. It is with a heavy heart that I say goodbye to you all.

I would also like to say that i send my prayers out to those who lost their friend, Ms. Yakuza, and it saddens my heart to see such a brilliant mind wasted so coldly. Her death will be avenged, as I believe you all to know, and she shall not be forgotten, for today will go down in the history books.

I expect the students and staff of Hogwarts to be competent enough to handle the Ministry and their best intentions. As they place one foot forward, try not to fall too far behind. For now, I myself am forced to move forward. Away from Hogwarts, and I can only hope that one day our paths shall cross again.

Thank you

Ann-Louise Omagan
Former Headmistress of Hogwarts" The Chancellor of Education announced his new appointment: "The Ministry would like to thank Ann-Louise Omagan for steping down so quickly and also without making a scene. The Ministry of Magic hereby would like to Announce that Ms Lydia Parcelas, has so graciously appected the post as the New Headmistress. Please all students and staff give her a warm welcome. Signed, Drake Ashland Chancellor of Education"

On July 14, 2007 around 9pm Prof. Chauncey Clemenceau was murdered by a new form of evil. Information concerning his funeral will be posted at a later date.

It gives me great honor to end this very productive year by announcing the recipients of this years governors awards! Each of these recipients have worked very hard to win the award and they are well deserving of recognition. Please hold all applause until the end. So without further ado lets begin!

Golden Quill: Allison Cho
Sapphire Heart: Starlite Night
Silver Sword: Lila Holloway
Bronze Owl: Prof. Natalie Valencia
Golden Gavel: Christopher Coldsteel
Special Services to the School: Prof. Miranda Arneson
Headmistress Award: Prof. Jerzi Spinner, Prof. Fleurette d'Sane, Prof. Marvin Peevison, Prof. Isabella Robins
Order of Dumbledor: Artemis Foil

As we end this year, and another term, it's time to take a moment to remember those Professors that have decided to leave Hogwarts at the end of this term. I'd like to thank all of those that have worked hard in their classes, and I wish them the best in any further ventures they may take!

Thank you to Prof. Damian Darsh, Prof. Liberus Creaton, Prof. Madison Lafoy, Prof. Miranda Arneson, and Prof. Talena Zelati. Your work is greatly appreciated! Thank you for all you have done!

As we begin the Summre Term, Hogwarts Online has hired 3 new professors that will join the already professional team of educators. Whether you have them in class, or see them around the castle be sure to welcome the following professors to Hogwarts: Prof. Daniela DeLeon, Prof. Norman Lux, & Prof. Xavier Night.

Finally, one of the most important announcements. Due to the massive, site-wide spread of double characters, the Governors of the site have met and agreed to pass the following bill:

All students of Hogwarts Online must PM Headmistress Ann-Louise Omagan with a list of all their characters, including adults, professors, creatures, students etc. Prof. Omagan will then compile a list to be posted in the Governors Conference Room. Prof. Clemenceau will track IPs to detect matches and double characters that are not claimed. The Governors will then go through the list and determine which characters can be kept, based on activity and development. No student from this day forward may make double characters unless they PM the Headmistress first. If a student fails to PM the Headmistress with all their characters, they will be deleted; no question asked.

All unclaimed characters not posted on the wall will be deleted. I would like to remind everyone that this is, in no way, a responsibility that you may shrink away from. If you do not personally claim your characters, I will let them be deleted and will not listen to the "But Ann's" I am sure to get. I do not care; this bill has been passed. I will give you all exactly one week from your latest login date to do this.

Many people thought that the governors had forgotten, but that's not the case. We'd rather you have plenty of time to have your say and to let the issue die down before making our ruling on it. For the governors ruling, please see the post in the announcements by clicking here.

Hogwarts Online's Spring Term 2007 is well underway! We are currently in our 3rd week of the term and we are looking forward to a summer full of Harry Potter!

It brings me great joy to announce that the beloved Prof. Ann-Louise Omagan has decided to return to Hogwarts Online. The governors have lovingly invited her to serve as Headmistress again once the 2006-2007 school year has ended, which will be in late June.

Prof. Chauncey Clemenceau will go back to his old position, which was Head of Staff. He really enjoyed this job very much and misses being able to devote more time to it. Prof. Chauncey Clemenceau is VERY excited about having his other half (Ann) back on the governors board and is looking forward to the next school year.

Attention all Ravenclaws! Quidditch is back, and your team captain, Tessa Shelley, invites all Ravenclaws that love Quidditch to find the post in the Ravenclaw Common room and join the team! Remember that with no team, Ravenclaw can not play and they can not pulverize the other teams!

Beauxbatons Academy is opening it's doors for an exchange program. Any quills earned there will be added to your student profiles here. Classes should start last week of May and run till end of June so that both sites classes can add the quills at the same time so you can move up in year.

Congratulations to Rayasha Yakuza who has been named the new Slytherin Head Girl!

Hogwarts Online 2.0 is almost complete! There are just several more areas that need to be added. Almost all of the Student & Professor Offices have been completed. We have seen a variety of different courses and applications from professors across the globe, however as always we can only offer a designated number of classes. However, this term saw the least number of denied courses and applications. At this time, I'd like to welcome our new professors for the Spring Term 2007:

» Prof. Madison Lafoy - Basic Astronomy (Returning)
» Prof. Nero Equidea - Art History and Archeology of Medieval Uk and Ireland
» Prof. Renee Grandampre - French Culture
» Prof. Edward Sullivan - Basic Alchemy
» Prof. Damian Darsh - Basic Ogham
» Prof. Juan Brant - History of Magic
» Prof. Steven Dukelow - Comparison of Muggle & Wizarding World

The Professor Application period for the Spring Term 2007 has closed! The governors had their hands full this term in deciding which classes to accept and which to deny. Thank for all the appliations that we received this term.

Please remember that the Winter Term ends on March 25. Make sure that all your make up work is caught up and you are ready for exams week. Do not let your homework pile up until the last minute!

Welcome to Hogwarts Online 2.0! The all new version may look similar, however that's where the similarities end. The office has many new functions that allow professors and staff to quickly complete tasks. Many of the bugs that occured on Mac systems have been fixed so now all users can easily access the website. The site is not totally completed as of yet, the links to the left that are italicized still not avaliable. However they should be by the start of the Spring Term.

The Student Office and Professor Office are still under construction as well. Some of the best features of HO 2.0 can be found in the office. Thank you for your patience as it has been a long road to this release of the new version of HO.

Professor applications are now open, please click here to send in a new application.

November 2006 Announcements

Friday December 1, 2006

The governors have come to a very difficult decision. We feel that the members of this site should know that Prof. Deana Debrouchee has been removed from her position as Governor and Head of Gryffindor house. Prof. Debrouchee has since decided to resign from her teaching post as well. At this time, Prof. Fleurette d'Sane will act as interim Head of Gryffindor until the Winter Term when a permanent Head will be announced. Due to several circumstances the new Head of Gryffindor will not be announced until December 18, 2006. At this point, the governors have not and probably will not select a replacement for Prof. Debrouchee on the governors board.

Hogwarts Online, like many of the other role play sites out there have welcomed a new form of entertainment to our sites. I am pleased to announce the formation on a radio station dedicated to the members of this site and several others in the HP RPG circle, most of which have been founded by members of this site. So check out HP Radio by clicking here (Use Internet Explorer only. Once the page has loaded click on the black box and wait). For requests or shout outs or for any more details about HP Radio check out the forum announcement here. The governors from Hogwarts Online will be eventually getting their own show so stay tuned for more!

The Winter Term Enrollment officially opens today! To Enroll go to the Student Office. Take some time to sit down and review all the courses being offered. Go to the websites and see if the course would interest you. If it looks like it will, then enroll. Also please be aware of the following:

You can sign up for 5 classes at the most. Click on the "Courses" to visit the classroom sites and find out if the class interests you. When one of your classes end, you can sign up for a new one. You can earn one quill per class per term. You need three quills at the end of each term to advance to the next year.

The courses that are listed below are the only courses that are open for enrollment. If a professor chooses to close his/her class, it will not appear on this list. Please do not contact the professor and ask to be enrolled in their class. They closed enrollment for a reason, they have met their quota for the number of students that they want. Do not pester them.

The professors will either accept or deny your enrollment request, this depends solely on the professor's class set-up (max. number of students, course settings, if you can join mid-term or not, etc.)

Prof. Chauncey Clemenceau November 6 @7:53pm EST.

Saturday November 4, 2006

The winner of the October Challenge is Emerald Halifax! Congratulations! You have earned Hufflepuff 500 house points! The second place winner for the October Challenge is Tabitha Merrythought! For second place, she will receive 100 house points for Ravenclaw! To see these and all winning submissions for the Monthly Challenges click here.

The November Challenge has been posted! Click here to view the prompt!

An over all reminder to all students that the end of the Fall Term is just weeks away! That means that if your grade isn't quite where you want it to be this term in order to earn a quill now is the time to fix it! Enrollment for the Winter Term will begin in about two weeks so start thinking about the types of classes you'd like to take next term.

October 2006 Announcements

Saturday October 28, 2006

It is with great sadness that the governors announce that Ann-Louise Omagan has decided, due to health reasons, to step down as the headmistress of Hogwarts Online. I personally would like to take a moment to thank the former Headmistress for her selfless giving she has done over the past year. Without Prof. Omagan Hogwarts Online would not be around today. Prof. Omagan joined Hogwarts Online on October 25, 2005. She joined as a simply Divinations professor and little did I or anyone else know the impact she would have on Hogwarts.

Ann's loving and kindness went beyond her job title. Ann cared for every person individually and is a role model for many. She quickly rose up the 'ranks' due to her charisma and attitude that made her a beacon of hope to our small site that grew to be one of the largest and most active on the web today. I want to announce publicly that Ann will always hold a special place in my heart because she believed in me when no one else would. I am forever grateful to her. Ann's work on the site far surpasses even my own work. She was a peacemaker that sought solutions instead of more problems. I love you Ann you are simply the best!

Prof. Chauncey Clemenceau will fill the post of Headmaster, but can never fill the void that Ann has left. However Ann will remain as governor for the time being and take it term by term.

Prof. Chauncey Clemenceau October 28@ 5:22pm EDT.

Sunday October 22, 2006

Saturday October 7, 2006

Hogwarts Online is starting the preparation for the next term earlier to give you all time to prepare for the next term. So, the first thing you need to do is get your current classes set up and complete. Sometime in the next two weeks, I will be reviewing (auditing) every staff member on the site. Here's how I will do it:

View their websites.
Assess the creativity and ease of navigation.
Assess their class and it's status and student activity.
Assess how active the professor is on the forum itself with RPing.
Interview students about your classes.
Interview you.
Interview other professors about you.

I will give you a comprehensive report about how you did on the audit. Remember that this will affect your course choices for next term. NEXT you need to begin now thinking about courses that were suggested in the student area or coming up with your own courses, or using courses that are already in existence. Prepare a website according to the instructions listed here: www.freewebs.com/hswcwcom/index.htm. By the time you apply on November 1st-November 5th. You will need to have your entrance page, about me page, syllabus, and lesson 1/assignment 1 totally completed. On the syllabus MUST be a course plan for the whole term.

Between November 5th-8th, the governors will be deciding who gets to teach what classes. As of this moment, all courses are open to anyone to teach. Now, how will we decide who gets what? Basically, it will go by rank: Governor>Head of House>Deputy Head of House>Department Chairperson>Professor>Staff, AND how well the site is done, the most important part is quality of the course and lesson. For those professors that have been teaching the same course for every term and want to continue to do so, I guarantee you will continue to do so.

On November 8th (maybe sooner) I will announce who got what classes, then the applications will open up for anyone that's not current on our staff. Their selections by the governors will be according to quality of the course and website. In mid-late November, the professors and courses will be announced and by November 30th all applications for professors will close.

Prof. Chauncey Clemenceau October 7@ 2:14pm EDT.

Saturday August 19, 2006

It is with extreme sadness that the governors accept Prof. Ginny Tonks' resignation. Prof. Tonks' has done many things for Hogwarts Online. Throughout her long tenure as Professor she has constantly been deeply involved in all things Hogwarts Online. When Prof. Tonks' first started her tenure, in late August of 2005, she began as the Muggle Studies professor, she moved quickly up the ranks going from Department Chairperson of Muggle Studies to Head of Gryffindor House, to Head of the Junior Wizengamot. Prof Tonks' then took on a new project in becoming the Department Chairperson of Charms and teaching up to 5 classes in just that department at one time. Amazing she never complained of the work load or never seemed disheartened as the world around her changed from a small role play site to a gigantic school for magic. Prof. Tonks' has made many friends on Hogwarts and will always be missed. Let us remember to thank her for all of her dedication that she has given for an entire year. Thanks Prof. Tonks!

Today begins the first day of enrollment! Please click here to enroll. Please remember that you may only enroll in up to 5 classes, but you only need 3 quills to move up to the next year. Please see the handbook Section 1 Chapter 7 by clicking here for more details.

As the new year draws nearer and near, we begin to anticipate the new things and new people that have joined Hogwarts Online this year. Please remember to follow all the rules and procedures listed in the handbook because all members of Hogwarts Online will be held responsible for wrong-doing. Have a Great Year and Term!

Prof. Clemenceau August 19 @ 10:49am EDT.

Friday August 11, 2006

Friday July 14, 2006

It is with terrible grief and sadness that the governors announce that we have accepted Prof. Ophelia DeLoch's resignation. This comes as a surprise to us all. The governors and myself want to thank Prof. DeLoch for all of her dedication throughout the past six months.

Prof. DeLoch led Hufflepuff to victory in the first ever house cup! And led her house to victory in their first official Quidditch match. Prof. Ophelia DeLoch once held the following positions: Governor, Deputy Headmistress, Student Advisor, Head of Hufflepuff House, Department Chairperson of Herbology, and most importantly our friend.

The governors are currently seeking replacements, because no one person could fully fill the Prof. DeLoch's shoes. Prof. DeLoch's replacements will be announced here and on the forum as soon as they are appointed.

It brings me great joy to announce that appointment of two Head's of Houses. Congratulations to Prof. Garren Leander who will be the new Head of Hufflepuff! Prof. Leander has excitedly accepted and assures me that he will do his best to fill Prof. DeLochs shoes.

Congratulations to Prof. Katelynn Deluca the new Head of Ravenclaw! Even though for the most part, Prof. Deluca has been acting head of house, the governors board is now making it official! Healer Joseph Echizen has been asked to pursue other interests.

Now, lets warmly welcome our new Heads of Houses! Welcome aboard!

Prof. Clemenceau July 14 @ 10:19pm EDT.

Sunday July 9, 2006
