Hey

So, im trying to drop out a few classes, because my RL job decided to throw full time hours onto, and I couldn't keep up and really don't want to have failing marks - but I cant... I keep getting a error message when I click on 'manage classes'. Its been happening for a few weeks now. Is there an issue with the office?

Grades below A will not be handed out either way, the only Quills grades that are awarded are O - Outstanding, E - exceeds Expectations, and A - Acceptable. Below that the failing marks are not handed out you just do not get a quill. Because it takes three to move up and it is not fair to move up someone for failing three classes when others work hard and do well in them to move up.

Hmmm,I checked the office and it said that it was a sign up withdrawl.Did you by any chance go under manage classes and click drop for that particular class?Because if not that's extremely weird...I've never seen anything like that happen before.

Fiona, I'd have to say that Section A was filled, and you were switched to Section B. And Priya, I would guess Section B filled up, but I doubt it's connected to Fiona's problem, lol.

Even though you were dropped somehow, at least you talked to the professor and as long as she has your ID number and information it should enable you to attend class. She might be able to talk with Prof. Clemenceau and fix the problem. I had the same problem but went back a couple days later and was able to re-enroll but maybe it's because you have more than 10 classes and can't. "C" can hopefully fix it for you. I also know that maybe the professor can synchronize with you and open the class long enough to let you enroll. I have done this in the past with my professor.

You can try what Irina has said, but with the changes we now have in Quill submission if your are not enrolled in the office in the class, you cannot get the quill for that class.

Hmm, kinda reminds me of my problems one of my friends is having, along with my alter-ego in another House. So long as you communicate with the Professor in question, they have your name on record, and you can receive a Quill.

I'm just not sure how they'll award it if it says in the enrollment that you were dropped or something, or if you're a last-minute addition to the class.

That no longer works for classes Edward as the procedure for submitting quills int he office has been changed and updated this term to make it easier to use and more convenient for the professors, if you are not registered in the class in the office now you cannot get the Quill for that class.

A professor may award you A QUILL, but it will not be that class quill, it will be a generic one, because you can no longer receive a quill for a class you are not registered in.

Hello , I have got some questions ( I think they're maybe silly questions unsure.gif ) about classes . How do they work exactly ? Does every member of a certain class have to be online at the same time ? How can I attend a class and take part in it ? How often does a class take place per week ?
Thank you for your help !
PS: I wanted to start a topic about classes , but it always said there was an error so I hope it is ok that I'm posting my questions here in this thread.

Generally, classes are done through roleplay. Just like the rest of the site, you will roleplay and write your character entering class, sitting down, talking to friends, and whatever else you would actually do if the situation was real. Then the professor will write that they arrive, do their thing; They might ask students questions, to which they can answer and earn house points, or they could lecture the class about the day's subject. Considering exactly what you mentioned, that everyone is from all over the world and simply cannot be online at the same time, this is the best way to do classes. It also means that it generally takes two to three weeks to play out one lesson, in which there are generally 5, in a hogwarts term, that it. Professors could assign you homework to which you would have to complete and PM to them, or even post in a pre-made journal that was made for you by the Professors, or their Teaching Assistant.

As for you not being able to create a topic, first years at Hogwarts are generally not given the permissions to create topics. This is not a punishment or a put down, but you must understand that like you, most first years are new and a bit confused. By not allowing them to create topics, it prevents new students from making excess topics that clutter up the board when they are not supposed to.

Hope that helps, Cheers!
