Difference Between Halfblood And Mixed Blood?

According to what I've read, halfblood is just a catch-all for anything that's not pureblood or muggleborn. Like two halfblood parents would be halfblood children, as would a pureblood and a muggleborn, a muggleborn and a halfblood, or a pureblood and a halfblood. Mixed blood does make sense, but I'm still confused...
My character's parents are a halfblood and a muggleborn, so does that make him halfblood or mixed blood?

As for the mixed blood if I'm not mistaken it's for those who inherited the ability of their creature parents (e.g. Werewolf, Vampire, Veela, etc.) like Victoire Weasley (1/8 Veela) but not Teddy Lupin because he didn't become a Werewolf like his father

Quoted from Sorcha on facebook
"Sick of being forced to choose either Pureblood, Halfblood or Muggleborn? Confused because you're actually a creature, or you were born to magical parents but maybe they were muggleborn? How do you choose?! Well- I've added the option on the forum to mark yourself as Creature or Mixed Blood for those of you who have been faced with this problem before. Shouldn't see oh so many purebloods running around now- thanks!"
A later post,
"In the HP world, they classify anyone who is not strictly pure, to be a half blood but by definition a half blood is someone with 1 magic and 1 nonmagic parent. a lot of people were listing themselves as purebloods even if their entire blood line was not strictly pure. so this will help ease up the number of "purebloods" running around the forum--as its not possible for there to actually be that many legit purebloods"
So I'm guessing if you have 2 pure blood parents. Pure blood.
Pureblood & a muggle ~ Half-Blood
Creature ~ Self-explanatory
Anything else ~ Mixed Blood

"Anything else" is halfblood-pureblood, halfblood-muggle, halfblood-halfblood, half or quarter (or more/less) creatures such as most of the newer generation of Weasleys (

Therefore, mixed blood, the way I understand it would be Victoire Weasley with 1/4 Veela, Hagrid with 1/2 Giant, Flitwick with a dash of Goblin.

I did this because too many people were claiming to be pureblood just because both parents were witches/wizards. but to be a pureblood there can be ONLY witch and wizard blood in your ENTIRE ancestral background.
however, half blood could mean your father was a wizard but mother was a muggle... OR it could mean that you happen to have muggles somewhere in your ancestral history
I created the term Mixed Blood for characters whose parents are both magical in some way (squib or wizard/witch) but whose grandparents, or aunts/uncles, or distant relatives might include muggles.
does this make sense?

It does make sense, thanks Sorcha. That's what I thought when I first saw the option (hence the setting on Gina's profile). However, if you do a members search limiting it to mixed bloods, you turn up about 40 accounts :/ So I don't know how many people are aware that 'mixed' doesn't mean 'part creature', since there is NO WAY there are that many actual pure-bloods running around the site. Maybe if the default setting for a new account was mixed, since it should be the most likely scenario?
