Hi I was wondering what is the spell Dumbledore used to clean up the house that Horace Slughorn was temporarily staying at, in Half Blood Prince? I know its not Reparo but maybe a variation of it? I tried finding it online but had a bit of touble finding it, and never did find it. Thanks.

I don't remember what happened in the book, but just from what I can remember from the movie, it seemed like a great feat of wordless magic. There was no specific spell, I don't think. Scourgify is a spell which cleans things. It may have been an extreme variation of that spell, but nonverbally.

I can verify Poppa Lion's recollection of both the book and the movie. The movie was very true to the book, for that particular scene. I shall quote it.

QUOTE (Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince American paperback edition pages 65-65)
"Would you like my assistance clearing up?" asked Dumbledore politely.

"Please," said the other.

They stood back to back, the tall thing wizard and the short round one, and waved their wands in one identical sweeping motion.

The furniture flew back to its original places; ornaments reformed in midair, feathers zoomed into their cushions; torn books repaired themselves as they landed upon their shelves; oil lanterns soared onto side tables and reignited; a vast collection of splintered silver picture frames flew glittering across the room and alighted, whole and untarnished, upon a desk; rips, cracks, and holes healed everywhere, and the walls wiped themselves clean.

I think in this case Jo is the only one who really knows; the best the rest of us can do is make educated guesses.

Technically not all spells used in the books were mentioned so we just call them cleaning spells. Though we do have created a class for that here if you're interested.

What is incredibly important to remember is that not all magic used in the books (or movies for that matter) had a specific spell that went with it. In fact, some wizards (such as Dumbledore and Snape) were known to craft their own magic spells apart from those any other wizard could use.

I am guessing this is one of those cases. http://l.yimg.com/us.yimg.com/i/mesg/emoticons7/3.gif
