TREATING RED #3 Laeticia Cabral

Colleen was confident when it came to her abilities to help bringing children into the world, however, this was the most complicated case she had come across. She had personally told Sebastian that Lae was going to be in good hands and knew that she had to make good on her promise. As they arrived to the Emergency Triage unit, she quickly passed the controlled chaos that surrounded them and announced who she was bringing in- listing off her injuries that required immediate surgery. This was so the welcome witch could make note should anyone besides Sebastian want to confirm if she was in. She was off to the operating room, magically setting Lae in place and with another flick of her wand all the instruments she needed would set themselves neatly on the standing tray. An assisted healer joined her in the process and took Lae out of her clothes and in a fresh gown. She changed out of her clothes quickly and put on her OR attire and thoroughly cleaned her hands before starting. She already knew that the baby was in a position that was compromising to his health and muttered as she passed her wand across her sleeping body to see her heart rate was sky high and the oxygen levels drastically dropping. In her element and in deep concentration Colleen worked quickly and diligently. She gave her half a dose of blood replenishing potion, giving her in small increments as it was too risky to give her more, and had a drip of anesthetic begin. Once the all clear was given, with her wand made the incision to begin the C-section process. It was all done in controlled haste, biting her lip as she carefully cut through the layers to get to the baby. "More replenishing potion. Suction also, please." The helper worked in sync with her and after removing the umbilical cord was able to successfully remove the baby. The umbilical cord was cut and could feel the baby flinch as the cord was removed. She focused her efforts on having the baby cry, rubbing his back when the softest whimper left his lips. Due to being premature his respiratory system was still not developed enough for a full fledged cry, but this would do and sighed in relief as she handed him off to the helper to get cleaned, wrapped up and to the NICU immediately. She focused back on Lae and with her wand closed her back up, her skin tightening together again and grabbed Essence of Murtlap to further seal and repair the wound, while also preventing any infection. The woman was in stable condition and the potions given to her next were to help with her pain once she woke up. Lae was taken away to recovery and Colleen left the room with a deep sigh and in search of Sebastian to give him an update as promised. What a night.

Flora had been checking on Cassandra when she had found Ace unconscious, suffering from internal bleeding, head trauma, and broken bones. She brought him into the next available operating room, calling for help from any available healers. With him on the operating table, Flora reported the status of his injuries to the healers who had come to help. "We have broken ribs, internal bleeding over here," gesturing to the part of the body where that was located. "Serious head trauma as well. Durst we need to stop the bleed," Flora commanded. She was a maternity healer, focusing exclusively on infant and childcare, pregnancies and deliveries... But that didn't mean she wasn't equipped with the knowledge required to handle this situation. She opened Ace up where the bleed was, using an appropriate healing spell to siphon blood that was pooling and bloating his abdomen. She set about locating the bleed and sealing it, effectively preventing further bleeding from pooling. She sealed him again and applied a medical ointment that would protect the incision site as it continued to heal up. Next She moved up the body toward the broken ribs. Flora effectively cast a spell to repair the bones there, repeating the spell several times to address every break. Aces treatment was taking time, but she knew he would pull through this. With the help of the other healers, they addressed his head trauma. The problem was identifying exactly what condition he was in at that point.

Flora determined Ace had a hematoma. They needed to relieve the pressure in his skull fast before Ace suffered permanent brain damage. Flora made quick work of it. With a small hole drilled into a skull, the blood that was pooling and creating pressure was suctioned away. Flora tended to the situation and followed all the protocol, and in the end, Ace was bandaged and after his treatment, Flora felt a rush of relief. Now he needed to be taken to ICU until he woke.

Treating RED #8: Nienor Riverwinds

With the help of another healer, Katerina was able to change Neinor into hospital clothing for ease of treatment. The first thing they required was to fix the fetal bradycardia which she did by putting her on a pacemaker and readjusting her blood levels by giving her a blood-replenishing potion and an anesthetic draught to avoid her from the excruciating pain she will be going through. It wasn't the first time she was treating such a case, although this was a bit more urgent due to the emergency situation. Scanning her body once more, she noted this was sinus bradycardia so only the pacemaker and adjusted of the woman's blood level were going to adjust the baby's heart rate and after a few minutes, the results were steady. With the baby out of danger, Katerina moved to examine her head for the injury and noticed that the left side of her brain was affected by the fall and possibly crashing with the objects. It was scary just imagining being in the VIP stands yet somehow securing the baby. It was a miracle, really. She would have to be kept overnight for monitoring of her head injury. "Turning her over please, carefully." She instructed the nurse who was helping her to assess the damage to her lower abdomen. There weren't any broken bones but she could definitely see a strain. "Hot compress." She asked the nurse who handed it to her and Kat applied the heating pad to ease the belly and abdominal pain. "Ferula." She waved her wand for bandages, fixing the back with them and an abdominal splint to fix the strain on her back. She was going to stay the entire night so Katerina was sure she can assess her in case she needs more attention. "Please apply the bruise healing paste and knotgrass on her bruises and cuts." Falling from the VIP section to wherever had definitely got her lots of those but they weren't anything major. Once the nurse had administered the pastes, she made a note Neinor's file, asking the woman to move her to the recovery room and monitor her the entire night.

Neinor, you can wake up here.

Hayden can still be careless when it comes to apparition. This was embarrassing. She is twenty years old and can’t get the mode of transportation right. This incident is not the first time that led Hayd to the hospital; the amount of times she has splinched herself.. the counts have been lost. Hayden opened her eyes in pain as she screamed. She has a low tolerance when it comes to pain and this feels like someone struck off her arm from her body rather brutally. Exactly what splinching feels like. She was lying on the bed with her eyes brimmed with tears as she gasped for breath. The pain was so much she can’t get a word out of her but it’s clear – she needs someone to help her.. desperately and fast!

It was Healer Certification, and she knew every single move she makes was getting evaluated. Bethy was being careful, trying not to be nervous as she did some routinary work in the ER. Yep, she ended up getting assigned on the Emergency Ward. The one ward that she's terrified to work in because so far, she hadn't done well dealing with stress in any high-pressured situations that she's been at, recently. But she guessed this was one way of getting better at it. To overcome her complete terror in working at the ER. Bethy wished her grades didn't depend on it way too much though… but they did so therefore she can't fuck up. Orrr yeah she might also get someone killed.

Bethy was at the reception, going through some files, when she was summoned. There's a patient that had been recently brought in and she's tapped to go and handle it. Stay calm, she reminded herself as she straightened her robes and took the patient's chart, hastily walking to where the man was situated. Going through the provided details she couldn't help getting a bit bewildered as well as overwhelmed. There's pain, shattered ribs, punctured lung, difficulty breathing… my god. But as she neared the supposed bed where her patient was, Bethy came across a few starry-eyed nurses and she paused. That's weird, she thought but shrugged then continued till she found the right bed.

"Mr. Declan Maes?" she called, her voice soft and gentle, waiting a beat before stepping forward… then she saw her patient's face and her eyes widened. "Ohh," she murmured, feeling surprised but also a little stunned for a second. Suddenly the reaction of the nurses she encountered had made sense. Bethy blinked a couple of times, a tinge of pink rising on her cheeks. "Um, can you hear me sir?" Was he awake? Some part of her was sorta weirdly afraid to get a closer look. But she gave herself a mental little slap awake and turned her attention back on the chart. To check whether someone already recorded his vitals or had given him pain medication or whatever.

Declan was no stranger to St. Mungo's, and not just because his sister worked at the hospital, but because the job he had came with some unavoidable accidents as well. Today, Declan was on his way to retrieve a goblin made goblet with a colleague when they were ambushed by a group of wizards who tried to steal the object. They were outnumbered, and a duel was unavoidable at that point. They were able to eventually defeat the group and get out of the situation with the goblet, but not unscathed. He had taken a few hits, and only after the adrenaline of the duel subsided, he realised just in what state his body was. He was brought to St. Mungo's where he was assigned a room. Once he heard a voice he opened his eyes, turning his head to face the young healer as a quiet groan escaped his lips. "Yeah." He spoke softly, pulling a face of discomfort as he spoke.

Bethy was trying not to or to get distracted. It was honestly easier said than done… although she liked to actually think she's doing well. Because she was able to concentrate somewhat. She also remembered the very first step which is to check for a response - his vitals were fine, according to preliminary reports. Just that he's struggling with breathing so that was her primary concern. She was hooking up apparatus to provide him with a steady flow of oxygen when she finally received a sign that he's awake. "Thank Merlin!" she whispered, breathing softly in relief. But it was not over yet, his groan told her enough… that he was in pain. In so much pain - and no meds. "Um you'll be alright sir, not to worry. I'm going to administer some anti-pain potion now," she said as she grabbed a vial of that. Double-checking its label to ensure it was the right one. Uncapping it with shaking hands and holding it against his lips as she tried to stop her shaking while also trying not to somehow look at the rest of his face or she might do something dumb.

"I'm gonna have to put you under oxygen therapy so as to aid your breathing while we assess the extent of the wounds you sustained," she explained, keeping a soft and soothing tone of voice, attaching a simple nasal cannula. Bethy she made sure that the oxygen was steadily flowing and the necessary devices were in place. She pulled the curtains around for some privacy and decided to peek at what's going with her patient's respiratory system. "If you start feeling any discomfort or anything strange please let me know," she said. Then she drew out her wand to cast an advanced healing spell. "Videre Internus!" she called as she traced her wand over her patient's chest to see what's going on and how severe the damage was in the ribs and lungs.

Declan hadn't seen the attending healer around St. Mungo's before, so he figured she must've been a newly hired healer. Upon her instruction, he raised his head just slightly and parted his lips to drink the pain medication the healer gave him. He pulled a face at the taste. He had the potion countless times before, but no matter how often the liquid touched his lips, the taste wasn't something you'd get used to over time. At least he knew the potion worked, so the foul taste was good for something. Declan remained quiet as the healer attached a nasal cannula, letting the healer do her job and trying to not cause any further injury to himself, apart from when the young woman asked him a question. "Sure." He managed to speak out, his voice barely audible.

Once she's successfully administered the pain medication she let herself breathe a little sigh of relief. It hadn't been perfect but she did it! Oh and she managed to not spill it even with her shaky hands and getting a teensy-bit distracted. Bethy watched her patient's face - she couldn't help it. Though it was pretty evident that he was displeased at drinking something nasty she ended up sighing dreamily… and gave herself another mental little slap. Right, so that's one less concern at the moment. Bethy can address the more serious matters now, though sparing a glance at the apparatus before anything else. The oxygen levels are stabilizing and his pulse is good, nice and strong… she let herself give another sigh of relief at that.

Then she used the advanced healing spell that she learned in her certification lecture, pleased that she was able to cast it pretty damn well. Spending at least a full minute analyzing everything. The punctured lung was not as bad as she thought it was… for now, so that's good. The primary treatment that she recalled was nothing but some rest. Let it heal on its own and so long as the patient was under oxygen therapy, recovery should go smoothly. Granted that there won't be any complications and for now she was gonna assume that there won't be any. That left the matter of the ribs which didn't puncture any of the other organs as far as she saw… mercifully. One Skelegro should fix it but she wonders whether the patient would like to be sedated. Draught of Living Death would knock him out sufficiently while his own body worked on healing naturally. Her patient was awake anyway so might as well ask. "Excuse me… sir?" Bethy drew close again, a bit hesitant. For some reason she's got this notion in her mind that getting too close would make her sorta fall apart or something. "Um so I need to give you skelegro to mend your bones, and the anti-pain potion is not gonna last long… and it won't be practical to give you so many doses of that. But I was wondering, would you be willing to consume Draught of Living Death? Just half the usual dose so you can rest. You won't feel any pain while your body recuperates."

Declan definitely felt more relaxed after the pain medication got administered. His eyes followed the young healer as she further examined him. This definitely wasn't his first time around, so he knew what he expect. It didn't come to much of a surprise to him that the healer said he was going to need some skelegro, although there had been a small hope that this time around he'd be spared the experience. "Nah, I'm good" Declan muttered out. He had gone though a skelegro treatment more than a handful of times, it definitely wasn't pleasant. It hurt, a lot. But he never liked the feeling of being sedated, he preferred to be there, with a semi-clear head.

The Skelegro was one nasty potion… she knew it from experience, having gone through a couple of doses over the years. It never gets easier and she personally thought it tastes worse every time she drank it. Then again, compared to any other complications he might've had, getting a couple bones all fixed up sounds like a lesser evil. Anyways seems as though her patient was on the same boat as she was - a regular drinker of Skelegro. Bethy could tell that he was unsurprised, that he was even already expecting it. Was steeling himself to endure it. Sympathy flared from within her, especially when he said he'd skip sedation. "Very well, then," she said. Honestly she gets it and she understands why he preferred that. It was within his right to refuse some treatments, after all… but damn it was gonna be a looong night.

"I'll have you transferred to a room now so you can rest better," she told him and then stood back up. She grabbed his chart… then, as she saw his name, it finally sank in who she might be dealing with. What are the odds that the man knew who her certification instructor was? Hm, probably a hundred ten percent. They share a last name and they were both hot… kinda obvs now. "We'll try and get in-touch with your emergency contact also," she added with a reassuring smile. Bethy made a few notes about the monitoring and her recommendations about his medication though she might have to ask a healer to sign-off on that. Then she went to grab a nurse to get her patient a room.
