RPC16. Wonder aloud if dementors will stop the train

 

After she's done organizing her things at the Luggage compartment, Pippa finally went to the Prefect carriage to take a much-needed rest. She came directly from her Japan trip, made a quick stop at the Town council building to inform them of her return and then to the Kings Cross station. She felt like she's floating, like she's still inside an airplane, as muggles call it, jet lag. Japan has different time zone than Europe, so it'll take some time for her to recover from her jet lag. Pippa entered the empty carriage. Good, more alone time before she has to deal with her responsibilities. Pippa put her backpack at the overhead rack, noting how she can reach it easily now compared to when she's just a first year. Well, if you're 5'7, everything's reachable now and smaller. At this, she smiled despite her exhaustion. She grabbed the latest copy of the Daily Prophet before riding the train to catch up with the latest news in the Wizarding world while she's away on vacation. Taking her seat and making herself comfortable, Pippa opened the newspaper and the first thing she saw was the rumour about dementors. Skimming through the content, she rolled her eyes mentally. Seriously, sometimes I don't know what to believe anymore. How can I rely on the news, you can't even tell which ones real from the fake ones? “So, what's next? Dementors are flying around UK? Will they also stop the train? Geez!” She said out loud in exasperation.

RPC: Dementors!

 

Aimi's summer was really a very fruitful and challenging. Not only because she already accepted her position in the clan but even her heart and mind was challenged in camp. She even had her mini Asia trip since she went to Hongkong with the Li fam, She also went to China and Korea and lastly Japan where she accepted clan responsibilities. But, she had to have a 2 day drop in France to get her stuff before going to Hogwarts. In those days she even dated Jaebum which is soooooo hectic and all. It was really tiring but what else can she expect. Going to the Prefect Carriage she over heard Pippa say Dementors. She sneakily went in and pointed her finger by the window with a very shocked expression , "Dementors!" She said ending it up with a laugh. "Hey Pippa!" She is excited to see her BFF. Being with her in Japan was one of the best things that happen at least it was not all work.

RPC: Sneak into the prefect compartment

 

All the other compartments were either full of loud students or Alfie was too afraid to ask if he could sit next to someone. He wandered from car to car until coming across the prefect compartment. Did he dare? He definitely was not a prefect and what if he got in trouble? Or they kicked him off the train? However, Alfie had been dying to just sit down this whole time. Maybe they wouldn't notice a little Ravenclaw boy sneaking in? He quickly opened the door and found his way to a seat keeping his head down. "Don't mind me." He said to the girls talking, "Just finding a good seat." Maybe they wouldn't notice? Then they both said something about dementors... Yanking his head up Alfie looked at them with terrified eyes, "Dementors?! What? Why? Did you see one!?" He said in a paranoid tone as he looked around the compartment and even ran to the window to check for any.

RPC: Dementors!

Amina came looking for her friends whom she would assume are staying at the prefects compartment. Those two have been head students since last year so it’s not be surprising if they have the same role this year. With that in mind, she didn’t bother checking other carriages and instead went directly to the prefect area. No need to waste her energy when she knew where to find the girls! Jus as she was arriving, she heard several people inside who were all exclaiming about dementors. Amina stopped by the prefect carriage door with eyes as big as saucer. ”What?! Dementors?!” She looked at all the occupants in the room in disbelief, ”What do you mean dementors? Are they here?” She even glanced at the window to see if there were dementors outside.

Esme was still reeling in sheer disbelief that she was a prefect because she had no idea how that even happened. There were a lot of other students who could have taken the role on but she was delighted to be chosen, despite her parents reservations about her going to Hogwarts after what happened to her at the Quidditch semi-finals. Never the less, she was loaded up with bits and bobs to make the full days journey up to the school along with her cat Tiberius who was happy in his carrier but was now wanting to get out.

Her absolutely massive case was in the luggage carriage so all she was carrying was her kitty and a rucksack that had her uniform neatly folded up and some sweets that she may or may not have gone crazy in buying. Mae was intrigued by the Chocolate Frogs as were her brother and sister when she got one for each of them too, if they couldn't experience magic they may as well appreciate the sweets and chocolate they provided.

 

She felt a little like a fraud as she poked her head around the door and seeing four people already in there one of them being Aimi so at least that was one friendly face she saw. "Hi there, think I'm s'posed to be in here? I mean this is for Prefects innit?" Esme was cautiously asking just wanting to make sure she was in the right place. It would be extremely embarrassing if she wasn't.

While waiting for Pippa's reaction. Aimi cannot help but laugh as some (Amina and Alfie) reacted to her Dementors act. "Chill guys, I was just kidding. I didn't see any Dementors." She ended up laughing with what she actually said. It was all a joke. She looked at the other younger student (Alfie) "Are you any how a prefect? I think that I don't know you" She gave him a suspicious look. Well, its not like she will try to throw him off the carriage. She is not that bad or strict enough. She then looked at Amina and gave her a squish hug instead. "You still believed what I just said. But I honestly missed you " She may have joined her in Hongkong for just 3 days but most of her break was spent somewhere else. 

 

She then saw Esme. The girl she once met in Diagon Alley is now a Prefect too. She also gave her a hug and said, "Yes Esme. This is the Prefects Carriage. Congratulations by the way. Oh! And I got you a Cardcaptor sakura card set that I saw in Japan. I just have it in my luggage. Please remind me one day when we are in Hogwarts" Esme is the girl she likes sharing her Muggle stuff things that she learned when she was growing up. She can't help but remember her whenever she saw Animated stuff.

RPC: Greet every passing student

 

Goldie was pretty excited that she got a prefect badge in the mail. It gave her a big reason to brag around the house, though she didn't technically do that. If anything, she just felt the need to show her parents - mum in particular - that she could be trusted like she'd talked about before. She wore it around the house the previous day, but decided that she would wait to put it on until school came this time around. Once on the rain, Goldie began walking toward the prefect compartment. This would be her first time sitting there and she was totally stoked! As she walked, she passed by lots of students and felt it would be important to greet them. "Hello!" she said to Alfie, and then "Hello!" she said to Amina, a fellow housemate. There were some she didn't know, so she smiled and greeted them namelessly, then when she realized all the others in the compartment who were also prefects, she grinned at them each. "Hello Aimi, Pippa, um... Hufflepuff prefect!" She didn't know Esme by name yet.

RPC: Chat with a student from another house

 

Caiofe was surprised to find something extra in her welcome packet from school. It was not the usual flat envelope that she receives a few weeks before the start of term and when she opened it, there was a pin that fell from it. It was a shiny green prefect badge. She was obviously shocked but being chosen as a prefect was something that her parents approved of and as a reward, she was allowed to choose anything she wants and they’ll buy it. Of course, you know she asked for a spanking new broom. Top of the line, and she will be receiving that in the next few days at school. She did not make her parents come with her to the train because she’d rather not do the whole goodbye thing. She only went to the prefects’ carriage and she was not surprised that he wasn’t the first one there. Once she was within earshot, she heard people talking about dementors. "Dementors?" Train feels comfortably warm, so that means that there’s no dementors around, right? She noticed that Amina was there so she asked about her brother. "Hi Amina. Where’s Raijin?" She haven’t seen him in a while. They have sent owls to each other during the short summer break and she’s excited to see him again. To the rest of the prefects and head students, she smiled and put her stuff up on the luggage rack.

rpc - enter the wrong compartment

 

Briony had been brought to Kings Cross by her Uncle Ferris that morning. He was on his way to the ministry and offered to take her because apparently her father had to meet a client for a potential sale. Briony wished her father didn't have so much going on in his life and could spend more quality time with the kids, but with her mum out of the picture, that made things rather difficult. Bri was looking forward to just getting to school and focusing on that instead, though. After hugging Uncle Ferris goodbye, she had boarded the train and began searching for a compartment. Ahead of her, she spotted her best friend, Goldie, and hurried up. By the time she popped into the compartment, she saw it was fancier than the others and kind of bursting with people. "Hey Goldfish!" she quipped, but then looked around and realized everyone was wearing a badge. "Oh. This is the prefect carriage, isn't it? So you're a prefect then, Golds?" Bri looked at her friend pointedly, but wasn't angry with her. No, Goldie deserved it. "Well, I'm sure you'll be comfortable in here anyway. Sorry to intrude on the fun." She smiled weakly and turned around, leaving the carriage to search for one she could sit in alone.

[Dementors!]

 

Ana had taken ages to get up that morning and it took her sister to threaten her that she finally did. Despite living a mile away from the castle, Ana wanted to go to Kings Cross which was beyond anyone's understanding. Obviously, Shaad had no problems with her idea so she got support from her brother even though she knew why. Rolling her eyes, she quickly got dressed in jeans and a nice top, heading towards the train station. Can you believe it? She was a frikin 4th year, they were all growing way too fast but no one's complaining. After bidding Savvi goodbye for the term and hopped onto the train and towards the prefect's compartment. She wasn't planning to stay there longer, it's very boring without her friends but someone's gotta keep the luggage. "Where are the Dementors?" Ana repeated after she heard a fellow Slytherin prefect mention them. It's not cold, is it? So no dementors. Her eyes fell on Marigold and she gave her a smile that wasn't as sweet as it looked, "Hi Marigold." Gah okay, where does she keep this luggage. There are way too many people in the compartment than she'd like.

RPC: Fart

 

Well this couldn't be good! Dementors?! Coming for the train!? However, one of the older students (Aimi) mentioned how she was just kidding. Despite her saying that Alfie was getting really stressed at the thought of it and he could feel his stomach making weird noises. He really should not have eaten that burrito before getting on the train. While dealing with his stomach a student passing by (Marigold) said hi. Alfie just nodded at her with a half-smile. He held his stomach with his arms and was about to book it to the bathroom when a rather loud fart came from Alfie. He froze and looked around the compartment before panicking and pointing to a random student (Caiofe) he yelled, "It was her!" Alfie then quickly shoved passed all the students in the compartment and ran out of there all the way to the bathroom.

When Ana had suggested traveling to Hogwarts on the train, he had looked at her as if she were crazy. But the more he thought of the idea, it didn't seem as bad. He's never been in the Hogwarts Express so that was a new experience and Goldie was going to be there too. Before anyone could shut down the idea, he had shown similar enthusiasm and his parents had finally agreed. They were now on the train and after keeping his luggage in the same compartment as Ceci, the two set off towards the prefects' compartment for different reasons. Shaad took a step back as one of the kids rushed out panicked and he craned his neck to get a better look at the boy while he held out the door to stay open. The prefect compartment was super crowded but it didn't take a lot of time for him to find Goldie. He slipped through the bodies of people, some he recognized and gave them a smile and stepped right behind her. "Hello Ma'am, I am here for your ticket." His voice was deeper now as Shaad stood behind her, holding out his hand for her ticket as he pretended to be a conductor.

RPC - Sneak into the prefect compartment

 

The last few weeks had been rather interesting to say the least. First there was the blast, then he was stuck in the hospital for sometime - which had brought his father down from wherever he was. And then he had been grounded by his dad to stay in their house back in Sweden - which was basically a shelter run by Astrid. Rush had begged him to take him to Russia but apparently travel was not allowed in case of head injury, and hence he was staying put with the hormonal kids - where everyone was humping everyone. Or so it seemed to Rush. The blast also had opened his eyes and brains to the possibility of things getting bad at the merest possibility. One minute you would be all okay, sitting in quidditch match and cheering your pain in the arse cousin, and the next you would be in hospital. It had not made him really mature on the outside, but inside he had become a little more cautious. 

 

He had boarded the train the Hogwarts after being dropped at the station by Astrid and dad. They had been extra protective as well, ever since it had happened. After reassuring them that he was fine..and things were okay..he had boarded, and made a beeline for one place. He remembered seeing Pippa in the hospital, she was standing there in the background. He remembered being worried about her when he had been unconscious. And later on, when Alex had visited him, he remembered him telling him about Pippa - and how she was special to him. Hence, Rush was possibly going to hell, for this - but in his mind he was rationalizing the intent of seeing Pippa to just maybe checking on her about the blast since he hadn't had the chance to talk to her. There was nothing wrong with that. Not at all. He wasn't overstepping boundaries, and anyways - Alex had just said he liked her...nothing beyond that? Okay, wrong train of thought.

 

Dumping his luggage into a random compartment, he started going around looking into every cabin until he spotted her sitting by the window in a fancy compartment. Now, Rush has never been a prefect. He has no idea such a thing even exists - like a prefect compartment. And honestly, he wasn't really looking at the fancy interiors because she was speaking something rather animatedly which was...Rush shook his head - and knocked before pushing open the door. There were a lot of people, and he did recognize Bri's friend Goldie in there, but he just looked at the blonde head student. "What was that about dementors?" He walked in, completely clueless to the fancy prefect badges and everything, and dropped right next to Pippa. "Hey.." He looked sideways, and gave her a grin - much different than his signature grin. "You doing alright? I didn't get to talk to you at the hospital." He spoke up in a low tone so that it wasn't very audible to the others.

Putting Tiberius in his carrier down, Esme welcomed the hug from Aimi and hugged her back, it was a shame the two didn't hang out at Camp Avalon but she didn't really want to cramp her style. "Thanks, and to you Miss Head Student," She found a space where she put her rucksack but not before taking out a paper bag of sweets and chocolate and hen gently placed it above where she would be sitting as her eyes widened at Aimi's next words. "Yeh got the Sakura Card Set?! For me? Aimi, that's not only a sweet gift but an awesome one, thank yeh!" Mae hugged the girl again. She had been eyeing that set on the internet since she got out of the hospital but the cost of freight from Japan to the UK was insane, she resigned herself to the fact she would never have it.

"Do yeh mind if I let meh cat out? I promise he'll stay on meh lap," Ragdoll cats by nature were docile and weren't really cats that would attack and run off without any warning. They were like dogs, calm and loyal which was great for Esme. As she started to undo the latch, a red head girl (Marigold) came in greeting everyone, the young Scottish girl gave her a smile. "Esme, nice teh meetin' yeh,".
She gave everyone else in the carriage a bright and friendly smile although internally freaking out at the sheer amount of people but they all seemed nice enough. No Juds here and that was a blessing in disguise! With Tiberius now out, he stretched out and wound around her ankles before jumping onto her lap purring. She knew how long the journey from London to Scotland was so Mae knew that being comfy and getting along with everyone was crucial.

Sit on someones lap

 

Goldie felt like she'd barely been in the compartment two minutes before even more people had crowded in. Luckily the prefect carriage was much larger than the others and rather fancy looking at that. It was clearly meant for comfort. Apparently being a prefect meant you got some extra luxuries! Neither of her parents had been prefects, so she didn't exactly know what to expect from the privilege, but heard there would be special stuff at school too. When Briony made an appearance, she grinned and for a moment thought maybe Bri was a prefect too, but no luck. She sensed some bitterness in Bri's voice even if her friend might try to hide it. "I'll come say hi in a bit," she said, but Bri had already turned to leave. Sighing, Goldie looked around at Esme who gave her name. "Hi, I'm Goldie." She grinned too when Ana came by with her stuff. So Ana was a prefect? That was going to make it an interesting year for her family, no? Goldie thought on it a moment, but only a moment, because a deep voice met her ear from behind. She knew who it belonged to, though. Turning quickly, Goldie grinned and tilted her head. "I'm sorry, sir, I think I lost my ticket!" she pretended to pat herself all over. Then, without warning, a few people pushed through and knocked them aside slightly. Shaad was forced back against the seats into a sitting position and Goldie fell down onto his lap. She let out an oof sound, but then leisurely draped her arm around Shaad's neck just the same. "I'm so sorry, sir, let me help you to your feet," she offered in her fake little voice. She slipped off his lap and tugged him upward, giggling to herself.

Shaad beamed at Goldie, not caring he was in the wrong department. They could deduct all points they wanted but he wasn't leaving there. Although there was no rule that suggested others can't enter this compartment, he knew it was a prefect's for a reason but still, he doesn't care. "Well, in that case, there will be consequences." His lips pulled into a mischievous smile. Before he knew, some students knocked into them, sending Shaad backward on the empty seat. He had his arms held out so Goldie wasn't pushed either but it was too quick and she was sitting on his lap. There was an excitement that ran through him but he snaked his arms around her waist and pulled her closer. "Nah, I think I like this more." He wasn't one for PDA but he just felt a little playful that day. Shaad slipped his hands away knowing the carriage was filled with other students who probably felt awkward and let Goldie pull him to his feet. "Thank you, did you get here okay?" Now that the little joke was over, he gave her a good look. She looked good and there was no trace of worry on her face after that event. He got slightly distracted having her some people talk dementor but realized it was only a conversation and looked back at Goldie.

The others in the compartment may have noticed their brief intimate moment, but Goldie didn't care. Her mother wasnt there so she was in the clear. Besides, the others seemed distracted by their own conversations. Goldie felt joy when Shaad was near and even though that stadium collapse had been so terrifying, he had managed to calm her until they found out the status of their families. Afterward, Goldie had been rather clingy to her brother because of how worried she had been. She wondered if he got a compartment at the back of her mind. "Yes, we did. We took the floo network." She used her fingers to quickly sweep her hair back and up into a ponytail, using an elastic that had been around her wrist to tie it in place. "I didnt expect to see you until we got to the castle. Wanna find an empty compartment?" Goldie flashed a shy look but was suggestive too. Oh teen girl.

RPC: Slap someone

 

Pippa was busy reading and mentally reacting while reading the other sections of the newspaper when someone just shouted dementors followed by her name. Pippa yelped and lost hold of the newspaper and it fell on the floor. “Aimi!” She leaned down to grab it and as soon as she held it, Pippa slapped (gm granted by her writer) Aimi in the arm using the newspaper, “You! Don’t you dare do that! You’ll be the death of me!” She hissed at her while blushing in embarrassment, but she’s not seriously mad of course, just caught off guard. Just then more people started joining their compartment and for a second there, Pippa was confused - a guy (Alfie) followed by Amina and both were asking them about dementors. “What?” Pippa blinked, looking confused but she realized almost instantly that they must have heard her shout about dementors. She blushed once again, “Oh no, sorry about that, I just read about it in the newspaper. I don’t think it’s even real.” She smiled at the guy (Alfie) and to Amina, “Sorry for causing concerns, please ignore it.” She turned to Amina, “Hi Amina, how’s your vacation?” She must be checking on Aimi. Another one came in, whom she recognized as Esme. “Hi, yeah this is the Prefect compartment, so if you received that tiny shiny prefect badge, then you’re in the right place. Please come in and have a seat. You’re Esme, right? I am Pippa.” Aimi mentioned about Card Captor Sakura, “Is that the cartoon character card set you bought while we’re in Japan? That’s for her?”

 

More students joined them, Marigold, followed closely by Caiofe and then Anastasiya. Pippa didn’t hide his surprise seeing Raijin’s girlfriend here, does it mean she’s also a Prefect? “Hi Marigold, happy to see you again, please join us.” She smiled at Caiofe, “Hi Caiofe.” The girl asked Amina about her twin brother, come to think of it, they’re usually together but she hasn’t seen the guy yet. Seeing Anastasiya’s luggage, “Ana, there’s still a lot of space at the luggage compartment, or you can leave here.” She pointed at the overhead luggage rack. It’s becoming crowded in their compartment now and Pippa was not sure which ones were prefects and which ones were just stopping by. She giggled though and covered her nose when someone farted and pointed at Caiofe as the culprit. She’s not even going to hide her amusement here, sorry, that’s bloody funny! Shaad then came, more like to look for Marigold, she just watched in silent as the two interact. After some time, Pippa looked at the glass window, and watched as parents bid their kids goodbye. Pippa didn’t have anyone to send her off, which is sad in a way, but she’s used to it by now. She’s happy for those kids who have their parents.

 

When someone knocked yet again, Pippa turned to look and was surprised to find Rush there. “Hey…” she couldn’t find the right words to say to him, it was heart-warming to see him alive, smiling, healthy and unharmed unlike the last time she’d seen him in the hospital. She smiled when he sat down beside her, still in disbelief at seeing him in their cabin, Pippa reached out and pinched both his cheeks (gm please!) softly, “Oh wow, you’re really here! Sorry I just want to make sure.” She laughed and let go before answering his question, “Yeah, I’m good. I just came from our Japan trip.” She looked at Aimi, “I met with Aimi there.” motioning to Aimi, “That’s Aimi. Aimi! This is Rush.” And then pointed at Amina, “And that’s Amina.” She folded the newspaper and put it on her lap. “It’s okay, you need rest that time anyway. I was just worried and wanted to check if you’re okay. You have your family there too, so yeah…I didn’t feel the need to stay longer. I don’t want to intrude if ever. How are you feeling now?”

(RPC: Chat with a student from another house)

 

After receiving her OWL results, Chasity felt a fresh wave go over her. She’s done exceptionally well in her examinations regardless of how her grades were during lessons. It came as a surprise since it was summer term and she’s been caught up with many things. Her trunk rolled through the pillars between the 9 and the 10 as the girl stopped by the train with a smile. This was the second year when her parents were not with her and won’t even be.

Chasity watched her brother leave her side as he went to sit with his friends and Chasity moved away to the first few compartments, trying to locate the prefect’s cabin. This was the second time in the row when she was made Prefect much to her gratitude and it came with privileges. The door was pulled open before Chas has the chance and out came a few students who were leaving the cabin. A mixture of shiny badges and no badges confused her but she saw a flair of blonde and recognized her friend Pippa from her movement.

Pushing the door open, she entered the compartment and slipped towards the luggage area so she can dump this heavy trunk that’s making her life miserable in the corner. Once it was done, she walked past Shaad and Marigold who were lost in their own bubble, towards Pippa and Aimi who were seated by a boy. “Hi guys.” It took Chasity a few seconds to catch up on the fact that they were in a conversation. “Sorry, am I intruding?”
