He knew that it wasn't Lorcan's fault that he was brought here, but she was the only person in his presence, so naturally he bared some of his annoyance towards her. It was definitely controlled though because had it been someone else then things wouldn't have been as polite. "Well, whoever scheduled this clearly needs to get canned. Bit of a warped sensed of humor to put us two together." Though his face softened slightly as she offered him a small sympathetic look. There were really only two people in this world who knew Don's ticks when he tried to lie and that was Lorcan and Émilie. Don didn't know who the hell had done the attack and if he did he wouldn't tell the Ministry. Why? So they could throw him or her in Azkaban and waste resources on keeping them alive? As far as he was concerned the person deserved to die and no not because of some stupid Minister, but because he had people he cared for deeply get hurt and one little tiny baby that reminded him so much of Charlotte fighting for their life. So, although he didn't want to help the Ministry it didn't mean that he didn't want the culprit caught- he simply wanted them dead. Don sighed as he took a seat and said in a kinder tone, "Nic's son was born prematurely, so tiny. You know-" It was then that he heard a door slam and turned with a brow raised to see some blonde demon enter the room. Oof. Who hurt him? Donovan, being the jerk he was, snickered and turned to see Lorcan's pristine calm demeanor falter just marginally, but she was quick to offer the man a polite quip. Smirking to himself, he situated himself a little more comfortably on the chair, trying to find the right sweet spot and although the male official's question was rhetorical Don looked towards Lor and said with a grin, "Lor, I thought you'd pick more plushy chairs than this." He wasn't trying to be a smart ass because of her, but because of the dramatic, over the top entrance that Mister Lych decided to arrive in. And here Don thought he was the one with anger issues. Once Lor told her coworker to start the interrogation, Don quickly pipped up to say, "Yes, official, I'd very much like to be on my way to my honeymoon so fire away." Don said with a sarcastic undertone as he gestured to Reid.

Office Of Lorcan Delevingne

Some people in Reid's situation might say they had a thousand other places they would rather be, which was the exact card that Mister Selwyn pulled in his greeting. Reid didn't let the guys arrogance bother him because the only place Reid would rather be was at home, alone, minding his own damn business. This was supposed to be his day off, though to be fair in the world of an auror, there really was no day off. More to the point, he had begun an off the books investigation on a particular family member that was a sensitive subject and it was that, specifically, that this interrogation was cutting into. Reid failed to pay Lorcan any mind, not because he didn't respect her but because he wasn't in the mood to care.
"How is it you acquired tickets to the VIP section of the stadium?" Reid asked, cutting straight to the questions that would lead them to any possible information. He really didn't think this interrogation would give him anything worthwhile, but he had to do his job and if there was a chance Donovan knew something, anything, he would do his damndest to get it out of him. He wasn't the good cop, bad cop type in these situations, nor did he stoop to tactics that some crooked aurors might. He played by the rules and had a strong sense of morals and integrity. Reid was known for being good at his job, despite still being relatively new to the appointment of full auror, having completed his three year stint of auror training some time ago. Even the attack that had led to his own traumatic and life threatening wounds hadn't been enough to stop him from finishing the program. It slowed him down, sure, as it took significant time to regain control of his magic, his wand, even his psycokinetic abilities had been drastically impacted for some time. All of his time spent at home had allowed him to strengthen those skills and was once again a notable presence in the auror department. Now, if only he could bring some kind of personality to the table.

Lorcan had a feeling that this was going to be a lot more amusing than she had originally expected and it had a lot to do with Reid's sudden change in personality and attitude. She could empathize that not one of them really wanted to be there at that moment and that they had a lot better things to do but they were there now and there was not much they could do about it. It was work and work had to be done. If their superiors wanted to make a big fuss about it then okay, they would do it. Lorcan had sat back on her chair and watched. She knew that Donovan could tell she wasn't particularly invested in the conversation they were having and had they been just the two of them, they would have shared some coffee, she would have asked him point blank and whatever answer she got would have satisfied her. She was one of the few people that knew when he was lying.
"I didn't realize your honeymoon was to start right away love," she said with a soft, apologetic tone. "I'm sorry to be keeping you. We'll do this as quickly as possible. The Ministry believes that it was a little bit strange that you and Émilie left the VIP section just before the explosion. What happened after the explosion? Did you remain relatively unscathed?" She wrote down a few things on her notes and then turned to look at Donovan with a serious expression. "Did you do it?" There it was. Point blank. Quick and easy. Whatever he said, she would believe him.

Official Lych made it so easy to get under his skin and Don smirked at how tightly wound up the guy seemed to be. He reminded him of a rubber band, just so ready to snap. Had it just been Reid and him this conversation would just be full of him being a total ass and talking in circles for the hell of it, however, Lorcan seemed to realize that this was just as much of a waste of time as he did. As the blonde man asked his first question Don leaned back in his seat as he went into his breast pocket and pulled out a pack of cigarettes. His eyes went to Lorcan, silently asking her permission if he could smoke with his facial gesture and once she gave him the okay, he took out two, one for him and one for Lor because he knew she liked a nice pull every now and then. "I'd offer you one Official Lych, but I'd say you'd give me a hard pass on that one. Though I'm sure it would do wonders for you..." Don said in slight amusement as he balanced the cig in between his teeth and lit a match to light the tip of it. The first pull was always so glorious and put him at ease, too, so when the first question was asked he exhaled with a contented sigh. Had he not had his smoke then Don would have answered his question with another question, something along the lines of - Oh, come on you Ministry folk don't have the records of all this?" Instead he responded casually though still holding a slight condescending tone, "My wife...well, fiancée, at the time of the incident - Émilie acquired the tickets. She works at St. Mungo's as a Philanthropist Liaison, so due to the nature of her job she needs to make a strong presence for the Hospital in order to receive donations from generous individuals. VIP means deep pockets. Unfortunately they can't pluck out money from trees, official." Taking another drag he turned to Lor and nodded in appreciation towards her apology. His demeanor always softened when he turned his attention to her and grinned to himself at her bluntness. Ah, Lor always the same- down to business. "When we left the VIP we went to go get some air. A bit too stuffy for my liking and we were by the stairwell when it happened. We got trapped under the debris and part of the column of the staircase. Honestly we were lucky to react as fast as we did to place a protective charm and that someone heard us underneath all that rubble to rescue us." He took another long drag of his cig before he answered her last question and said void of any type of emotion, "Killing the Minister would have required great care on my part, which I do not have. I'm apathetic when it comes to politicians, so no I didn't do it. Shame that other people had to get injured and die for one measly little person. And no I don't know who did it either." He turned to face them both and asked, "Anything else?"

Reid was disgusted by the act of smoking - always had been and always would be - so it was no surprise that this scumbag would be into it. What surprised him more, though, was that Lorcan was willing to participate. He thought it was pretty unprofessional of whoever had assigned Lorcan to this particular interrogation because clearly these two had a more intimate history than Reid originally suspected. Reid listened in silent judgement, nodded shortly at the man's answer because he found it acceptable and believed him as well. There was no reason to lie about something like that, when it could so easily be fact checked. He did think it was rather convenient that the man happened to put a protective charm over himself and his fiance, but again he didn't think this guy was directly involved in the attack. He felt there could be knowledge somewhere, some kind of connection that maybe the guy wasn't even aware of himself, but honestly could see this interrogation wasn't going to lead them anywhere... especially with Lorcan practically licking his asshole clean. Reid shot her a look, because while he could appreciate not beating around the bush, he just had the feeling she wasn't going to take this as seriously as she should. Not technically Selwyn, but just the whole investigation in general. Reid stared at Selwyn silently for a moment before saying, "I understand you've recently opened, what, a casino? For a man as young as you are, that is quite impressive Mister Selwyn. Not many wizards your age could stake claim to owning their own business. It begs the question of your connections because you certainly didn't afford it on your own. There is nothing against the law in knowing people or being related to people with deep pockets. I myself know from experience. But if we find out that you are connected in the party responsible for this disaster, you'll understand that there won't be leniency on your part." Reid held up a hand to signal he could shut up before saying another word. "I think we're done here. Official Delevingne, why don't you escort your pet out of the building? I'll be in my office." Reid used his psycokinesis to open the door with a flicker of his gaze and stepped out, walking briskly from the office and toward the lift that would take him to his own.

Lorcan had to bite her lip to prevent herself from laughing. This was too funny and she had to admit that Donovan made for a highly amusing character. She knew that she was supposed to display a certain sense of professionalism but this was little joke. Honestly, there was no reason why they should prolong this and she even allowed herself a chuckle when Donovan lit a cigarette. She took the one he offered and took a long, deep drag. She wasn't a frequent smoker. In fact, it was one of those things that she occasionally indulged in but it depended on the situation. Unlike Reid, Lorcan knew how to handle Donovan and antagonizing him in such a way would get them nowhere. Besides, he would more likely talk to her than talk to him.
That wasn't to say that she licked his asshole clean. What a rude insinuation. Lorcan knew when to pick her battles and this was not a battle worth picking. Besides, Donovan's answers was good enough for her and the reason why she wasn't taking this seriously was because there was nothing to take serious. He didn't do it and that was that. She ignored the look he gave her. If he didn't like her anymore then oh well. That was that. She was a little curious as to why he brought up the casino to begin with. Honestly, Donovan had deep pockets on his own. That wasn't a surprising thing to anyone. For people like her and him, purchases like that were an afternoon at the park. Nothing lavish about it. But anyway, she took another drag of her cigarette, and just waited.
The woman simply furrowed her eyebrows as Reid told her to escort her pet out of the building. Uh rude. And then used his ability to open her door and exit. Well, at least he didn't slam it again. After a few seconds, Lorcan sighed and turned to look at Donovan. "Hard to believe that not so long ago, he was actually perfectly pleasant," she said. "I'm sorry about that. I don't know what his problem is. I can assure you, you'll be fine. They shouldn't try to pin anything on you. Thanks for the cigarette. Not to mention congratulations on your wedding love. I am so happy for you."

Wow. What a lack of professionalism from Official Reid's part. Tsk tsk tsk. Donovan wasn't bothered by his stern facial expression nor his words. In fact he found them quite amusing and just made him such an easy target to mess with him. Clearly he didn't know his audience as Donovan neither cared to cause any type of destruction that would call attention to him, his family, or business. After all he had Émilie to think about and knew how much she enjoyed her job at St. Mungo's and would never do anything to tarnish her reputation in any way. If anything he was trying desperately hard to build something outside of their dark and questionable family history and forge their own path by doing things that didn't require bludgeoning people in the head to get what they wanted. As he mentioned the casino Donovan simply snickered and let out an exasperated sort of sigh. What were they going to do next? Raid his business- his home? All because what's-his-face felt butt hurt? Oh, please. Donovan wasn't worried as he had nothing to hide and everything he did when it came to unsavory deals wasn't linked directly to him. There were always other pawns that would fall before he ever did and simply shrugged at the man because he felt as this point he was just grasping at straws. Just as quickly as he had stormed in the room, blondie was off and turned to look at Lor with his typical smug smirk, "Am I a cute pet, at least?" He asked with a hearty laugh and finished off his cig. "I'm not worried. Let them dig in if they so wish, they won't find anything. I'm a reputable business man after all." He said with slight sarcasm in his voice and tilted his head to the side as she congratulate him, "Thank you, Lorcan. That means a lot coming from you. I just have one quick favor to ask of you. Not sure if you can really do anything about it or allowed, but if you hear anything through the grapevine perhaps let me know? I have a serious gripe with the person who performed the attacks or anyone affiliated to it. Not only because Émilie was put in danger, but Nicolas' son was born prematurely because of it and is now fighting for his life at St. Mungo's as we speak. Not to mention a lot of close friends getting hurt." He stood up and fixed his suit's jacket, "I should be heading out. Hopefully Émilie's interrogation doesn't last long. She's worried you know? Being accused of something that she wouldn't ever do- especially an event that she personally helped with. For shame it seems like the sins of our fathers continue to haunt us." It wasn't a woe is me type of tone, just simply observational. "Is that it?"

Lorcan took another long drag of her cigarette and finished it off, setting on a nearby ash tray to be disposed of later. Reid had given her such a headache with his attitude but it wasn't something she was about to comment further or figure out what his problem was. To be honest, at this point it was better to just leave it alone. She had a feeling that pushing it might not be in her best interest. Anyway, she turned towards Donovan and took a deep breath, allowing herself to relax after quite their weird interaction. "Yes," she said to his am I a cute pet comment. He knew he was and this affirmation was a testament to how far they had come from their previous interactions. They were almost like friends. That was nice.
"I'll see what I can find out though," she said. "But you should know that whatever I tell you should handled discreetly. I don't want to get in trouble." Not that a slap on the wrist worried her, but she had a reputation to think about and added paperwork could be very annoying and not something she wanted to deal with. "I think she'll be fine. That's all from my part. If anything, thank you for making this an amusing afternoon. I hope you have a great time on your honeymoon." Lorcan started walking Donovan over to her door and gave him a small peck on the cheek as a farewell.

Lor had one favorite nephew. Well, she didn't actually have any nephews or nieces for that matter, not that it wasn't in the horizon for her. She imagined it would happen at some point but Lia and Mathias hadn't yet gotten married and she figured it wouldn't happen at any point before that. Not to mention Ryan wasn't technically her nephew but he was as good as. She was, in her not so humble opinion, like the child's godmother, even if Luca had never officially said so. So naturally she spent a lot of time with him and having him around was a treat. It made her think of Charlotte and though that was a wound that had taken its time to heal, it was getting better. Time did heal all wounds, even if thinking about said wounds was at times overwhelming.
But she wasn't thinking about that at the moment, instead she had agreed to take Ryan for an entire week. He had suggested it and Lor was more than keen on saying yes. Luca had given his son a stern talk, told him to behave himself but Lor winked at him because whatever he wanted to do he could get away with at her house. Who would have thought she had it in her to be the fun aunt. She had taken some vacation days to spend it with him but work still had to be done and Lorcan was keen in finishing some drafts for her newest proposal before presenting them to the European council next month. It was another convention in Vienna and even though Lorcan attended all of these talk and had to travel most of the time, she had to admit she never got bored of it.
But Ryan did get restless and though he had been behaving himself, he still needed some attention every once in a while. Lorcan looked up as he spoke and smiled at him warmly. She put her quill down and focused all of her attention on him as though he was about to make some important announcement, and he was in his way. "Oh my god! Really? Let me see!"

Lorcan had volunteered to take on an intern for the summer. She always enjoyed getting involved with the younger generations and she had to admit it was always a surprise to see new faces adopt and learn the roles so well. She hadn't done an internship herself when she had been at Hogwarts. She had always just followed her father's footsteps and he had groomed her to take over so pursuing mentorship from someone else was simply not something she had ever conceived though at times she wondered if it would have been fun. She had sent an owl to her intern, containing directions on how to get to the Ministry and gain access to Level Five.
Level Five was not the most closely guarded level at the Ministry but it had a lot of security within its corridors. Highly classified and confidential information was shared on a daily basis and therefore access to certain areas were restricted. She had given Mr. Hendrik the appropriate credentials though she was still required to keep a watchful eye. Today would be interesting. She had briefs to go over before her meetings and she wanted to have be a part of that and gather his opinion. As Lorcan waited, she set up some documents on her desk and waited as she sent one interdepartmental memo after the other.

Zayne was sort of lost when it came to a career. He wanted to go into architecture but ever since he was introduced to Level five, his course had swayed a little. It had happened in Spain where his father had forced him to go to a career fair organized by the Ministry with him and he had come across a woman, Savannah. She was a department secretary apparently and easy to talk to and when she told him about what she did, he was certainly intrigued. The lady had mentioned there were positions open in case he was interested in pursuing his career in the UK instead of going back. After what happened with his father, Zayne was sure as hell not going back to the offer that had come to his mind and he had applied in hopes of finding out what he truly wanted. It didn't take long for a letter from the Ministry to arrive and he arrived at the Ministry five minutes before he was due to meet his supervisor, Official Delevingne. She had already provided him with the credentials needed to enter the floor and once he had shown them after exiting the lift, he was directed to the office. Level five was quite modern, up to mark like the offices should be for an International Corp department according to him. He knocked on the woman's door and was let in, finding her seated with some documents in front of her. "Hello, Official Delevingne, I presume?" He asked the woman with a polite smile.

As Lorcan went through her interdepartmental memos, her self-writing quill went to work on updating her paperwork. Those kinds of tools had not been permitted at Hogwarts when she was younger but as an adult it was a complete life saver. So much time could be save when she didn't have to sit behind her desk going through paperwork after paperwork. She had more time to focus on the important things, like the upcoming submit in Geneva. For someone with such a nice office, Lorcan spent most of her time abroad. She had always known that her job would take her far and wide. That had been the case when her father had been ambassador himself. The family even had to relocate to Copenhagen for a short while and that had shaped the way Lorcan viewed the world. In retrospect, she could probably point out that that had been when the issues with her brother had began but that wasn't a thought she was about to embark on at the moment.
She glanced over at the key point in the document she was reading and took a deep breath as she read it over and over again trying to come up with a better way to express her point. Half of her job was coming up with key words to make sure she got what she wanted while keeping an enough air of vagueness that it could be interpreted any sort of way. One never wanted to use a word that could be used against them later on. She took her writing quill and made comments along the margins of the parchment. Before she could finish though, she heard her name called out and Lorcan looked up to find a young man. Well, a Hogwarts kid rather. She already knew who he was. "Mr. Henrik I presume? Yes, come in." Lor set her quill on the desk and motioned for the boy to come in.
"I'm Official Lorcan Delevingne, the British ambassador to Europe. I saw your application and noticed you had an interest in the department. What do you know about the Department of International Magical Cooperation?" She waited for the boy to speak and took out her wand to pour over some glasses of water along with a pitcher on the coffee table by the sofa on the side of the office. "Would you like something else to drink?"

One of the main things that Zayne did when entering a space was look at the interior of any office or home. You could say it was the passion for buildings and designs inside of him that made him want to survey and rate the place, maybe think of titbits that could be better. The office was fairly spacious and aesthetically pleasing. There wasn't much crowd and the furniture was contemporary too, similar to how his house was. Level five as a whole was beautifully decorated, he had to admit. "It's Hendrik, Official," Zayne corrected her with a smile in his fluent Spanish accent. It wasn't the first time his name was misspelled, or mispronounced, in this situation. Sometimes they added a C, sometimes they forgot the D, the latter happened often but he didn't blame anyone. It was difficult to pronounce some names and anyone could make that mistake the first time. Walking inside, he took a seat opposite her, waiting for the woman to speak. Lorcan, as she told him was an Ambassador to Europe, perking up curiously. He knew the job of an ambassador since his father was one but he was never told about it in detail since they weren't exactly bonding material... father and son.
"Well, to be honest, I only applied after Official Hennings asked me to give the department a shot during one of the Spanish Ministry Career Fests my father took me too. I don't have much knowledge of the Department nor was I aiming to be an Ambassador before coming here but I am hoping that this internship will help me understand if this is the job I want to take up once I graduate. My parents are both into Ministry, my dad serves as an Ambassador too and my mother works as a Prime Minister advisor so they wanted me to follow a similar path, which is also one of the reasons I applied here." Zayne came under one of the indecisive students right before graduation. Were there many? He was sure there were. I mean not every student knew what they wanted to do, right? They dabbled into various jobs and finally found their dream. In Zayne's case, he was intrigued by what was pitched to him during the career fest and since London was his refuge at this point, he couldn't think of anywhere else to apply. "No thank you," he smiled politely at the woman when she offered him coffee. Hopefully, his reasoning wouldn't put a wrong impression. Zayne was honest here but when he said he was hoping to find his footing, he was serious.

Lorcan nodded, maintaining a stoic look on her face even as he corrected his name. She took no offense to it. Her own name was unfamiliar and her surname often misspelled, missing the second 'n'. In fact, whenever people read her name on paper, they assumed she was male. Lorcan was a traditional Irish male name, which had always prompted questions to her mother. Noelle Delevingne had always shrugged. She had expected two male twins and when Lorcan had been born, the name simply stuck. The young woman had to admit that she liked it. It definitely suited her. "Got it. I will make sure it is not misspelled," she said.
Then she turned her attention to him, to listen to his reasons for wanting to intern in this Department. Lorcan had to admit Level Five was not often the most popular level. Most Hogwarts students wanted to be aurors and healers. Her job required slightly more preparation, as there was no real guidebook to follow. "I can understand that," Lorcan said. "My own father is an ambassador as well. I wanted to work for this department to follow in his footsteps, but ambassadors are not the only part. We have a lot of trade officials and that is very different work. Is there anything you want to know?"
She nodded then and turned to serve herself her own cup of coffee. Despite her English upbringing, Lorcan was not a fan of tea. She drank it when prompted and offered but she would cease the habit altogether if it was ever up to her.

Zayne let out a sigh of relief, glad that she didn't mind him correcting her. There were people who took offense but he didn't understand. Wouldn't they do the same when it came to their own name? "Thank you," he responded cheerfully and listened to her share about her father being an ambassador and wanting to follow in his footsteps. He could relate to the father bit but the only difference was, that Zayne in no way wanted to follow in his father's footsteps and become a corrupt official. There was a reason he was a part of the Parchment Scholars that not only led but also helped around and aimed for the students to be good humans. He could not be a good human if he followed in his father's footsteps. She further elaborated that they have trade officials in the department but it was the other department that he is interested in. "Do you know anything about the welfare officials? I sort of have experience in volunteering and helping out so that area stuck out to me." Zayne asked when he was given the cue to question away. He knows there is a welfare department that falls in line with his experience. Now... is it what he wants to do for sure? Not exactly but it's one place he doesn't mind starting into and interests him deeply.

Lorcan nodded then listened to his questions with intrigue. She had not expected him to ask her about the welfare officials, but then again, she hadn't known what to expect from a young man that had applied to intern in her department with no real want to commit his life's work to it. She didn't judge him for it. It was natural for kids to be undecided about their future. She had seen in in her friends and predominantly in her brother. She had been lucky enough to have know what she wanted to do from a young age and stuck through with it. She could only imagine what her future would have been like had she been unsure of where to apply after graduation.
Her knowledge of the other offices within the Ministry was not lacking but she usually allowed the communication between departments to fall under the charge of her assistant. Unless the matter was truly of the utmost discretion and importance, she didn't handle the matter herself. Her department relied heavily within each other but there was little face to face interaction between the welfare officials and the ambassadors. The trade regulators were the officials that had the most contact with each division and the three units only gathered together when it was important to do so. They had meetings monthly but other than that, everything was letters here and memos there.
"The welfare officials are in charge of regulating the overall wellbeing of the citizens of the United Kingdom," Lorcan said. "They ensure the proper actions are being taken to follow on laws established in the best interest of the people they are meant to protect. They are also in charge of conducting inspections. For example, we have St. Mungos inspectors that fall within the welfare officials that make sure the hospital is up to code and the standard of excellency is upheld throughout the entire premises. Do you have any questions about it?"
