New RP

Alek walked around the store, his steps slow - deliberate even. He would pause for a while at one of the racks, his fingers ghosting over the ceramics as he mindlessly checked for quality. Basic. Even worse than basic. Alek Chervenkov was a man of quality..class..finesse and refined arts. He had been brought up in an environment that spoke of luxury and all things of the best quality. That made it easier for him to basically pick out things that were far inferior than what he was used to. Alek had a plan in his head. It was time for him to formally enter the Chervenkov business, but he wanted to do it in a way that stood out - that was different than what all his predecessors had done; and in a way that would give him some form of control of his own life. Some distance from the mafia. He had a duty to fulfill there, yes, so he could never truly leave it behind. But some shred of distance would be..good. The plan was to launch not in Russia, but in UK. A new territory. A foreign launch instead of a foreign expansion. A bold move? Probably. A risky one in itself. But it was a means to differentiate, and to take the brand global. Bring with it a sense of..exclusiveness. Fancy. Anyways, that put him in some unchartered territories, since back in Russia he needn't move a single finger to get anything done - from interiors to art to catering. In UK..he had to work for it. Which was why he was here. He needed to find the right kind of artwork for the interiors of the new business he was launching. And it needed to be good. Someone had suggested this art center, and he had been in a way..appraising it - and its standards.

Felicia was struggling.

No. Really. She was struggling. Felicia was out at Tinsworth of all places because she was still trying to find that “big break” that was overly romanticized in a lot of literary works and other medium of entertainment that has been consumed by the masses for a very long time. She was looking into opening a gallery in that Arts center for an open exhibition to get her work out there. She’s been waiting for a while now. She had an appointment for more than an hour ago and she arrived very early to meet with the curator and the manager of the Art Center but the guy was no show. According to the assistant, he was running late because of a few outstanding meetings with foreign artists who are looking into donating some of their artworks. Felicia understood for the most part, but she was getting a little too impatient for it. She had told herself that it was for the best and the hours that she spends in that time waiting for a man that would either come or not was going to be worth it as long as she can get her work displayed along the walls in that place. She will get her art on those walls no matter what. This is what she was thinking about to keep herself from walking out of that ornate double doors and back to her apartment. Her home gallery was just enough to have people come in and look at her work and the commission her for something but that barely pays her rent and monthly necessities so she needed a bigger audience. Hopefully, this meeting goes well and she can have some of her pieces on sale like the ones that are on display. Felicia sat on the bench on once corner with her portfolio on her lap. She was told to wait in there because non-staff are not allowed inside the offices during business hours. She did take a lap around the store to see what were available and what she saw made her hopeful. Not to blow her own horn but her works are definitely better than many of the stuff available. She hopes that the person she’s supposed to meet with has an eye for fresh talents like her. She was tapping her foot on the floor in time with every second that ticked on her watch and there’s still nothing. But when the assistant who she was talking to suddenly came out through the office doors, she stood up suddenly, knocking the portfolio off her lap and onto the floor where it opened t display images she took of her work. She started to lean down to pick it up from the floor but she decided to put her attention to the assistant who did not even give her a side glance and went out of the door out of the building. "Bitch," she muttered as picked her fallen portfolio off the floor and sat back down on the bench.

It wasn't exactly easy, the whole concept of setting things up in a foreign land with nothing to guide you. While the Chervenkovs were a big name back in Russia, they still had sufficient ground to cover when it came to the UK. Sure, their money could get them great curators and architects just to help with the establishment - but Alek found the foreigners were not that trustworthy. Many a times they would try to simply line their pockets because they thought they could rip a person off - as the person wasn't a part of the country. And Alek didn't have a network here, that could help him figure out if that had indeed happened. It was always best to do such things when you had the upper hand - and here Alek didn't. More so, whatever work he had seen, was pretty archaic - not the kind of decor or art form that would make a mark like he wished to do. This wasn't some clothing store, or a grocery thing he was opening - this was going to be a place of finesse, luxury, with that unique style that would give it that upper class. Pretty much everything that was part of the brand would come from whatever is put on the walls - so as to bring out the beauty of the jewels. And nothing that was present here, was worthy of that.

There were a few people sitting alongside on the benches, and Alek made it a point to avoid that side of the store as he examined the art forms. It was then, that a commotion caught his years - as there was a flurry was papers, a door opening and closing, quick footsteps. With his general bored expression, he looked away from the shelf to see that a few papers were strewn across the floor as a lady was picking them up, another one seeming to have walked past her. Though it wasn't all of that which got his attention. His eyes were directed to the papers that were on the floor, which had some kind of images of artwork that were not present in the gallery. How would he know? Alek was an artist himself, something he didn't explore completely - or didn't speak about. And he could certainly tell apart different styles of art, and none of the styles present in the gallery matches the ones on the paper. All too soon, they were snatched up by the woman who took a seat back, clearly disgruntled by something. Alek waited to see if someone spoke to her, or if she knew someone. And when no one did, he walked towards her. "Are those for sale?" He asked as he reached near to her, gesturing to the file in her hands.

Felicia is not a very patient person. She values her time and other people’s so she did not appreciate the fact that whoever is in charge of this place was a no show. She can’t do anything about it now. She was the one who needed the meeting. She’s the one who needs to adjust. If only she did not need the place to display her works, she would have been out of that place the moment the assistant told her that the person she was supposed to meet was running late. It was annoying, but she needed this. She tried to calm herself as she arranged her portfolio again. Thankfully, none of them were folded of gotten dirty. She was busy putting it back together when someone approached her and asked about what she was holding in her hands. She looked up and it was a guy. She did a quick and subtle scan of this person and she was immediately curious. Is he planning on buying her artworks? She didn’t want to sound too enthusiastic so she composed herself and looked at the guy confidently. "They could be," she replied. She was planning on selling her works, of course, but she hasn’t found the right place to have them displayed. The Arts Center was the only one she could think of right now. Maybe this guy could give her another option. "Why do you ask?" She might as well cut to the chase.

New RP (feel free to RP around if you haven't finished)

outfit

It had become their ritual to visit Tinworth during the holiday. Her uncle and aunt owned a small cottage by the coast which was usually rented to anyone who wanted to enjoy the sight of the beach and her cousin was the one managing it right now. She had requested him to empty the slot for three days ahead for her and family to stay. It was her parents' anniversary tomorrow and since she couldn't celebrate it the last time with them as they were staying in Russia, she wanted to make this one special, not only to celebrate the anniversary, but also to welcome them back home. She missed them a lot and it was a nice thing that she did well at school so their comeback didn't greet with disappointment. Her parents were now resting at the cottage while Isla explored the art center. She wanted to buy something as a gift which she would present at dinner time alongside the food she would make (which hopefully ended up decent) and since the family was quite interested in arts, she thought buying something artistic would be perfect.

Inside the arts store her eyes were fixed on a sculpture of a couple. She tilted her head as she considered whether that one would be a nice gift for them. They didn't have any couple items for as long as she could remember. There was one at home but it belonged to her uncle and aunt since she lived in their place after her aunt passed away and her uncle went back to South Korea. Maybe it was okay? She wanted them to have something to make them remember the life they shared together. Or was it too cringey?

After the end of term Jo had been staying at the house of a family friend in Tinworth. Jo had done little else than sleep and read for the last week seizing the opportunity to just be with herself and not to pretend that she was ok. She wasn't supposed to be ok was she? She had lost her mom and Eriol all in the matters of a few months. She had dove into her studies as a way of distraction but that only helped to a point. Now that Jo had finished her term, her escape mechanism wasn't there and the grief hit her all over again like a tidal wave. For their part the Caster family had been more than understanding and welcoming. They had checked on Jo several times and brought her food but mostly let Jo be. After around a week of this, Jo decided that she needed a reprieve from her room and could use some fresh air. Wearing her Ravenclaw sweater and some jeans Jo ventured out into town. Walking with no destination in mind Jo glanced at the various store fronts decorated for Christmas. Jo stood in front of a building stating that it was the Tinworth Arts centre and Jo decided to venture in. Art had always been her outlet and she decided that some beauty would perhaps be of comfort. Passing several artists workshops Jo spotted a store selling no doubt the creations of the resident artists. As she walked in Jo saw a face she recognized from school. Feeling that it would be rude to not say hello Jo walked over "Hi Isla. How are you?" she said trying to manage a cheerful smile. Noticing the sculpture they were standing in front of Jo looked at it for several moments. "Oh what a beautiful and sweet sculpture" she commented.

Isla crossed her arms as she pondered more whether she should take it or not. The price was okay, she still had the remaining allowance from her parents from the last two years plus a generous number of galleons she earned from her internship. And she actually could ask Alden to chip in, surely he wouldn’t mind that though she wondered if he would come to their place tonight. She decided to look more and there were some trinkets from the same rack which might also be good as a gift. She was about to reach one with bronze color when someone called her name. “Jo? Hey!” She greeted her back, surprised at the encounter. Tinworth was a common place for both wizards and muggles for vacation since it had a nice beach so Isla would sometimes meet her schoolmates during her stay. But, still, she didn’t expect to see Jo. She heard what happened about her mother last term. “I’m good, yeah, just looking around.” She replied, smiling. Her head turned back to the sculpture as she mentioned it. “Isn’t it? I’m thinking of buying it for my parents.” She said before she could stop herself, feeling awkward. What if it was a sensitive topic? Talking about parents? Isla was usually blunt but growing up she had became more considerate with others, especially after her cousin experienced the same thing as Jo. “Um, by the way, I’m very sorry about your mother. How are you feeling now?” Probably a stupid question but she couldn’t think of anything else to say at the moment.

Jo continued to do her best to smile and give off a positive attitude, after all it was Christmas time there was no need to bring anyone down. As they continued to examine the sculpture, Isla mentioned that she was thinking of buying it for her parents. “Oh that would be a lovely gift” she commented “It’s very sweet and I bet that they would like it very much”. Gazing around the shop at the various art pieces Jo added “There’s a lot here that could make a lovely gift. Is your family big on art?” As she asked this Jo remembered how she and her own mother had often spent time going to art galleries themselves growing up. Jo wondered what it would be like to go to galleries in the future without her. As her thoughts wandered to her mother, Isla seemed to be on the same wave length because she expressed her condolences and asked about how was Jo was doing. Everyone seemed to be asking that question these days. “Honestly it’s really been hard since the term ended but I’m getting by. Thank you for asking though.” Not wishing to delve much further into her for fear she might burst into tears Jo decided to change the topic “It’s surreal that we are going to be 7th years isn’t it?” She mused.

Isla’s face brightened the moment Jo replied so casually, she was worried earlier that talking about parents would make her sad, but she guessed it’s kind of alright. “I know. My parents never really have a couple items, think it’s cringey, but it’s not. So I want to give them this.” She grinned, looking at the small sculpture again. Surely even if they thought it was cringey, they wouldn’t say it out loud in front of her, right? She believed her papa liked this kind of stuff while her mama, um, we’ll see. “Yeah, the place itself is famous. Many Artists across the UK show their arts here.” Isla had not yet checked the other section like the theatre or the studio but maybe she could ask her parents to spend the night watching a show while they were still in Tinworth. “Quite?” She replied. “My mother is a potioneer so she isn’t really into art but she does enjoy and appreciate it. My father’s an author, so, yeah he enjoys it more than my mother, especially in paintings or illustrations.” For the cover. He didn’t draw it himself, yes, but he would suggest a certain illustrator if he liked their arts. “For me, I’m practicing fashion designing and some other hand crafts.” It all started from taking the fashion designing and wandmaking class a few years ago and it turned out she liked it more than expected, though she did have interest in fashion long before that. Losing a parent would never be something she could ever imagine happening to her, but she guessed so did everybody else. She could tell Jo didn’t really want to talk about it so she didn’t ask more of her mother. “I know right? Real stuff now. I never imagined I would graduate from Hogwarts but here I am.” She chuckled. “I transferred from Durmstrang in my fifth year.”

Jo appreciated the sentiment Isla had about getting her parents something a bit more romantic " I think it's a really nice gesture especially since they don't make time for stuff like that all the time."  Jo nodded knowing that the center itself was attracting newer up and coming artists. " Well if your mom is a potioneer I would argue that there definitely is a artistry in that. My mom and I have always been into art. We used to visit Paris during the holidays and go to all of the museums there. " Jo smiled at the thought of the happy memories they had created. Jo was intrigued at the mention of fashion design. "I've actually spent a ton of time sketching different fashion designs. I've never actually sewn was always a little intimidated by it. What kinds of things do you like to design?". Back in her room  Jo had an entire sketchbook of dress designs, sadly she didn't have it own her or she would have shown Isla. Jo must have forgotten that Isla was a transfer from Durmstrang. "I would imagine that Hogwarts was quite a different experience than Durmstrang. Do you like it at Hogwarts though?" She had heard that Durmstrang was definitely a more intense environment than Hogwarts.
