[Prof. Siegfried Alexandrescu]

 

 

 

The ballroom is the conjuction between all seven chambers, all seven colors and all seven sins.

In here, the sinners come for absolution, so the sin or sins committed can be forgiven.

When you enter to the ballroom, you're able to see flying trays with drinks for you to take; there's a DJ playing the songs that you'll be dancing to, along with one of the most famous swedish band of wizards that will also perform for you. Even with the ballroom being decked in the seven colors, the lights also change to display each portayed sin. Despite the weather outside, the room has been charmed to be warm, so there's no need of wearing coats and jackets.

 

From this point on, everyone is required to be wearing a mask. No one knows who hides behind which, and the only way of knowing is approaching and interacting with one another.

She was dressed in a long red dress and an intricately designed red ornate mask. As she stepped into the ballroom she looked around realised that she was still early. There were still some final details to take care of so she headed to the DJ booth to check that everything was fine and once satisfied she moved around the rest of the room and found everything to her liking. The masquerade would be a success. Lorena took a drink from a passing tray and stood to the side of the room and waited to see who else would arrive soon. She didn't mind being first, though some company would really be great as well. Rena had been so busy with her internship, classes and patrolling that she hardly had anytime to relax nowadays. The event may be the perfect opportunity to do just that. It would also be nice to change people's perception of her slightly.

A Valentine's event, huh? Well, it sounded like some social event Dylan was most likely to not succeed at, but he decided he would attend, following his very own proposal. There were several chambers, all of different colors, but he found himself strolling along until he reached the ballroom. He felt funny, wearing a suit, but it was necessary for this event. The mask was sort of ridiculous, but he had gotten one as well. It was a masquerade dance after all. It didn't cover his face completely, so it wasn't super secret, but it looked good, so he was good. The place was... empty, but it was early. There was just a gil in there wearing a red dress and a matching mask. Okay, this was very mysterious, as he couldn't recognize her. Dylan gave her a heartfelt nod in acceptance of her outfit and as greeting, because they were in there together and alone, so ignoring her would be awkward. There were several emotions running through him, and he was getting pretty excited about this whole thing. That was why he decided to approach her. "Nice decoration, don't you think?" He said, standing next to her.

Despite not having been officially asked by Zlat to the Valentine's Events, she still held out hope that he'd be there. After all he spent all that time planning their first date and had kissed her...surely that meant that they were more than just friends now? Perhaps not quite dating, they hadn't discussed that far ahead so she wasn't sure where his feelings landed on that front...but like they were close enough to attend the dance together, right? Either way she wasn't gonna miss the chance to get dressed up, and if she put a little more effort today...well that certainly wasn't for a certain dark-haired boy. Nope. Entering the main chamber, where the dance floor was located, Addie pink flowing dress billowed behind her, while the crystals on both it and her mask glittered in the lights. Looking around the room she didn't spot the taller boy, though she wasn't sure she'd be able to tell him from anyone else with the masks. She banked on knowing that he was much taller than most giving him away. Instead there was just two others there. Shoving her disappointment aside, she moved towards them with a friendly smile. "Well this certainly is different theme, how crazy do think it will get? What if someone kisses someone they hate and don't even realize it with these masks!?" She snickered at the thought.

[Diana Ivanova]

Diana did enjoy the occasional dance, however Valentines day wasn't her favorite. Why have relationships when you can have casual flings where no one expects anything from you?  Nevertheless, she was here, and looking fabulous with the sole purpose of finding handsome men to entertain herself with. Her mask and her dress went with her usual black and mysterious theme. She did love a good mystery. Right as she entered the ball, which was well decorated surprisingly, she grabbed herself a drink and sipped it carefully as she observed the few people who were slowly coming in. Diana enjoyed masks, because she did look lovely in them, however it made it harder to pick out particular people.

Mask & suit

 

With all of the changes happening, it hadn't been easy to put on an event so complicated and of utter dislike for Siegfried, but the Junior Valkyries proved to be a little bit smarter than he thought they were, and it all turned out just fine, even if Siegfried would have added some different chambers and props to correctly represent the theme, but it was supposed to be illegal so he refrained from it. When he had been done with all the transfiguration spells, he went to his headquarters and changed, this time completely matching the event's topic, contrary to when he would only wear a suit to keep the administration happy. Despite his amazingly well-put playlist for the DJ to play, there were only four kids at the Ball. None of them were still dancing and he was the first adult to arrive, which only caused for him to take out a flask and take a chug, looking at the doorway, hoping any other staff member would join, especially the so happily married Nylunds, just to make this event worth his time.

Finally more people started to arrive and Rena was more at ease. She would have been mortified if she had been the only one there. A guy in a pretty sharp suit (Dylan) approached her and commented on the decorations and she smiled and replied, "Yes I think so to." She couldn't place his voice and his mask obscured just enough of his face that she wasn't sure who he was. A girl (Adeline) in  a light flowing dress arrived and Rena had to agree with her, "Well that would be quite something  to see. I wonder if fists would fly?" Another girl (Diana) in a rather stunning dress arrived and Lorena had to envy her for being able to wear such a glamours outfit. Lorena gave a small wave to invite the girl over and then suggested to the small group, "Well let's get this party started? I don't know about you but I am in the mood to dance and by God I will." Not really caring if they joined her or not she started to move to the dance floor after setting her drink down and started to sway to the thumping music. In the meantime a man had arrived. By his height she guessed he had to be a teacher, but which one was anyone's guess.

Risel was looking gorgeous which, really, wasn't all that much of a surprise. When it came to an event like a ball, he made a habit of dressing his absolute best. Of course, he hadn't been to a proper ball in years, so he'd momentarily worried that perhaps he was a little rusty when it came to the appropriate way to dress - and he hadn't brought anything specifically designed for a ball when he'd first arrived at Durmstrang - but, at the same time, it didn't seem as though the people here were too worried about that sort of thing. This wasn't Beauxbatons, after all. So long as he wore a suit and looked wonderful, which was a given anyway, no one was going to comment. This he'd paired with a black and silver mask and Risel was ready to go.

 

There were a few other students already here, although all of them much older than Risel, as well as that irritating professor who seemed to insist on getting him filthy in his utterly disgusting lessons. From where he stood he gave the man a frown of disapproval, even though it was doubtlessly not going to do much to irritate him. The man had seemed incorrigible so far. Instead of bothering with him further, Risel instead made his way over to the seating area and took a seat, careful not to slightly crumple his outfit as he did so.

He had to come up with something genius. A simple mask would fully betray who he was, being tall and of ancient royal descent. An uniform would add more to a noble attitude, or so the mundane world loved to see royalty, especially in countries where royalty was abolished a century ago. But in the world of the magicians royalty was not much of a matter unless your name was Black. But Thor was glad, though he shared being a full-blood wizard with them, not the name or any blood with one of the pureblood families from England, or Sweden. Rather he hadn’t met a lot of them ever in his life. But it would be nice to create some fun and searched for a mask that would pretend to be a famous person.

 

He did put on a nice suit, like he came to a party at one of the Ministries of Magic. And put a mask over his face, attaching the cords behind his head and under tresses of black hair. And Mr. Harry Potter was looking back at him. It was full-faced and magical, so it moved with his facial expressions. However it were his own eyes still who saw with the eye slides in the mask. Oh this was going to be fun! Nowhere had been written what kind of mask it had to be. Thor hid his knife under his clothes and stuck his wands with him. You never knew if you needed them. And then he set off towards the party. He arrived on time, but some people were already there. He strolled toward the bar and poured himself a nice drink without alcohol in it.

The only reason Cam decided to participate to this Ball thing, was the theoretical, complete anonymity. She had already enough people issues without going to a Ball alone, spending the night alone, dancing alone like an idiot, being pointed at possibly with the addition of giggles, and going back to her dorm, guess how?? Alone. No, this time there was a chance she could meet someone. The possibility that they would never speak to her again was one not to discard, but for just one night she’d be someone else. Someone more decisive, confident, social animal.

 

The theme was seven sins masquerade, which came only too convenient. In her wardrobe an old dress she had managed to arrange a little differently was just perfect for a masquerade. Cam was quite sure there’d be a lot of exposed skin, but in her opinion the amount of bare skin wasn’t directly proportional to the owner’s attractiveness. The mask she made herself, with a bit of magic and some paper and lace. Upon entering, she noticed only a bunch of people were attending at the moment, and two adults, most likely professors. Cam walked up to the drink station and poured herself a beverage, just for something to do, then approached the small group of students. At a glance she didn’t recognize anyone, but it was hard to say in the semidarkness and the masks. “Hey” she greeted everyone “Having fun?”. Among them a boy had a particularly interesting mask (Dylan), which didn’t cover his face and left his features exposed. She didn’t know him anyway, which made her more bold. “Let’s dance” she told him, looking in his eyes, her voice firm, not betraying how much this was not her thing.

A masked ball, didn't that sound.. fun. Not really. Still it was better than sitting in the common-room doing homework. So leaving a pile of it on his bed, he put on a dark green suit and the required mask before setting off. Yawning he stretched his arms above his head scanning the room. Obviously everyone was going to be slightly anonymous which could be fun or dangerous. In any case he took a glass of whatever drink was floating around, unlikely to be alcoholic, and looked up at the DJ. He hoped that they would play some Izzy Beckett tunes tonight, that would definitely get him dancing. Everyone looked older which sort of put him out a bit and so took a seat wondering if he should try out one of the other rooms in this weird event.

Addie was disappointed that her masked knight hadn't shown up, though she still held hope as the night was young. However a few others had arrived, some she figured had to be professors from their stances and height, so the evening wasn't a complete bust. Besides she enjoyed looking at all the fashion choices everyone had made, the masks were especially fun to look at. She had saw one that looked very steam-punkish that had her fingers itching to swipe it. It made her own girlish one look rather silly, but it did match her dress so there was that. One of the other girls in the small group that had formed agreed with her on the idea of some drama unfolding throughout the evening, the theme of it all just screamed it. "Well it would certainly be quite the show, definitely not your typical school-approved entertainment." She joked with a snicker, yes she was actually kind of hoping for something to go down. With one last scan of the room proving that Zlat had still yet to arrive, she turned her attentions back towards the girl who had proclaimed that she was going to dance and smiled. "Well it is a dance, so let's party!" Agreeing with the girl and moved to join her in the middle of the dance floor. Luckily the DJ had a great mix going and soon she found herself jumping up and down with a particularly fun song. Moving about in a circle she looked towards the others just milling about and tried to motion them to join in with the fun. Maybe they could do the Macarena or something else equally ridiculous.

A-Belle hadn't exactly wanted to attend the Valentine's Day celebrations, after all what did she have to celebrate with her crumbling marriage? But of course she was now suddenly thrust into the Headmistress position, with her cousin off doing whatever, and therefore it was expected that she show. Some sort of school unity or whatever....she wasn't exactly buying the reasoning. Never the less, she'd come for a short amount of time and be miserable the majority of it. Luckily it was a masquerade where she could hide behind a mask, hoping no one would approach her. Dressing for the part she could at least take comfort in knowing she look good, albeit a bit morbid in her accessory choices. That was her, attractively morbid. Scanning the room she saw it was mostly filled with the short stature of children, all off in their own cliques trying to look like they were enjoying themselves. They were enjoying themselves as about as much as she was. Over their heads she spotted a lanky red-headed man that was easily recognizable even with his ridiculous mask. Alexandrescu was the only redheaded Professor there, but points for his effort to stick to the theme. Deciding that the night might be better if she stuck with a somewhat agreeable adult, she made her way over towards him. "Nice outfit Alexandrescu, perhaps next time you'll remember to mask the hair as well. Ruins the mystery." She pointed out in a monotonic voice as she came up on his right side. 

[Jenson Nylund]

Jenson was only going to the Valentine's Ball for one reason, and that reason was to see Annabelle.  Work was the only place they saw one another, the only place they communicated, the only place they exchanged long glances that could mean anything from lust to love to resentment.  They didn't discuss their marriage or Margot often, if at all, and Jenson was beginning to wonder if anything would ever be resolved. Maybe, just maybe, the one girl he had let himself fall for would be his undoing.  Divorce was a possibility on the horizon, but at the very least he'd started to manage this single father thing alright.

 

With the benefit of a live-in nanny, Jenson had been able to head to more than one tavern before the night's festivities, getting good and warmed up before his entrance into what was sure to be disasterous.  His style had always been one centering on casual, so putting on a suit, however 'him' it was, felt a little bit strange.  Jenson had decided to attend without a mask of any kind, not really understanding the concept.  He'd spent his entire life fending for himself with no one to look out for him, so the idea of masking who he was - a person he was proud of - seemed lame at the very least. 

 

There were students spread around, but his focus was on finding Annabelle.  That wasn't very hard, of course, given the striking black dress she'd chosen to wear, sheer lace falling over more of her skin than not.  He hadn't expected alcohol to be present at a school event with children, so he'd made sure to get to a functional point of drunkenness to survive the evening.  It was easy to note who Annabelle was even with a mask, for Jenson knew her intimately - probably better than anyone else.  He also could easily recognize Alexandrescu, because it was no surprise he was who she'd chosen to cozy up with.  Jenson approached them both, the bourbon swimming in his head as he observed them through their masks with his own eyes uncovered.  "You two are so cute I can hardly stand it."

The bar was a good place for those with a thirst to quench. The professor saw people come and go, and smiled slightly, but said nothing. He wasn’t recognized at all, in this rather – was it former fame – outfit. And truly the impersonation stood taller than the original man was. No bother to Thor, he couldn’t change his tall stature. Students enjoyed themselves, Thor drank and let accidentally out a burp to create the illusion he was getting drunk. That was ridiculous off course, but nonetheless he wasn’t the truly serious professor who left all fun out of his life, and lived forever in seriousness. The magical mask was a good thing. He heard people recognizing each other, and perhaps they wanted that, or not. The students found each other, and some teachers as well. Romance in the air? Perhaps. Or would it all be pretense and wrath afterwards?  He sat for himself, a wand in hand to let the glasses do a dance on the bar. Call it being bored.. but Thor had no idea right now what kind of entertainment was fitting on this lovely ball, meant mostly for students. The grownups were throwing in a ‘what do I dislike the most’ game. He lay his left arm of the bar, with his head on it and closed his eyes, pretending to be asleep. The spell of the dancing glasses was broken and his own glass was empty.

Lorena didn't mind dancing by herself but was relieved when she was joined by another girl who was trying to encourage other students to join them. "Let's liven this party up? What do you say? Every tried dancing 'Thriller' by that Muggle artist Michael Jackson? I probably suck at it but it is worth a try, what do you think?" She used to dance to it when she was a kid and was willing to give it a shot again just for the hell of it. One thing South Americans loved and that was music and dance. Lorena was no exception to that. Whilst she had many, many other flaws and irredeemable features, she could dance with the best of them despite her figure and she had a pretty decent voice. She noticed the adults present and also a weird looking dude in a Harry Potter mask. To each his own she figured. Hopefully the rest of the group of students that were there would join them .

{Suit & Mask}

 

Zlatko was fashionably late... or was he? He had been standing at the entrance of the ballroom, inspecting, analyzing, watching. He was thrilled by the topic of the event and he would take any opportunity to dress up, even more so if it involved a mask. After the kiss he had shared with Addie, he wasn't really sure where they stood, or how she felt about it, as there hadn't been any feedback. It wasn't like he needed it as he very well knew he was a good kisser, but he still wanted to learn about how she had felt about it. Had it been just a kiss or would it take them somewhere else? He was ready to find out tonight.

 

The place wasn't really crowded, so it was sort of easy to identify some people. By some people, Zlat actually meant the professors, and Addie. He was so well acquainted with her figure, her movements and her shape (because he truly adored to look at her whenever possible) that pointing her out hadn't taken him long. She looked beautiful, as always, and pure, in contrast to the blacks and reds the other girls were wearing. The mask just added to her feminity and innocence she drove herself with. By the time he decided to walk in, Addie had moved to the dance floor, accompanied by the girl in red, and was already dancing. Even if he had no shame and didn't care for what others might think of him, he rarely got moments in where he felt comfortable enough to be himself, and he liked that about her. He liked that very much.

 

Zlat practically walked in a straight line towards her. "I'm kidnapping her for a moment here." He said loud enough for the girl in red (Lorena) to listen to him, because he had noticed they were chatting. Without waiting for an answer or asking for permission, he placed his arms around Addie and lifted her off the floor, spinning her around before placing a kiss on her cheek. "What are we doing, then?" He turned to face the other girl, decided to fit in and follow Addie's lead and rhythm for the night.

More girls kept on arriving, along with a couple boys and some adults. The only one he spotted was Prof. Perfect Hair because he hadn't put on a mask. Boring! But Dylan didn't think the man was boring, at least not when he had started teaching. Now... uhh... changing topics, a girl in a pink dress (Addie) approached them and what she said made him make a face, and he shook his head. "Do you really think that could happen? That would be extremely weird." His brows went up, thinking about it. He didn't hate anyone, so it was hard to picture himself in that position. Dylan snickered as the girl in red (Lorena) added another comment. She was then quickly to suggest they danced, and Dyl was just not so sure about it, because he could be quite reserved in that aspect. It would be different with more people around. He was wearing a mask, but he wasn't one hundred percent comfortable with that. Well, if he wanted to meet people, girls specifically, he had to loosen up.

 

By the time he decided to give it a chance, the girls had already left for the dance floor and he was standing there, looking stupid. Dylan rolled his eyes and thought of his next move: food or try and fit it, have fun how the others did, for once? But before he could make a decision, a girl (Camille) in black dress and black mask (there were plenty like that, one of the professors fitted the description as well; talk about confusing your partner if you weren't careful enough) approached him.  She was wearing gloves, pretty much a gothic attire that, well, did differentiate from the rest of the black dresses. Her boldness caught him off guard but didn't surprise him, as Durmstrang girls weren't shy, he had learned that. He narrowed his eyes first to try and guess who was behind the mask, but nothing. Okay, so this girl was practically deciding for him, which saved him so work. Scratching the back of his head, he shrugged and offered a small smile. "Let's dance." In a different setting, he wouldn't be doing this, but Dylan took her hand and pulled her to the dance floor. Even if half of her face was covered, he learned she had blue eyes and had pretty lips. For the record, this was the first time he had focused on a girl's lips.

The other girl was soon swept away by a guy in a studded mask. Lorena, sighed and figured it was no biggie. She really couldn't be bothered. Yes, she had tried but Valentine's was a couple's thing. She wasn't part of a couple and so she figured all that mattered was that the others enjoyed themselves. She saw another couple start to dance and she made her way off the dance floor. There was no use in being pathetic. After a while of watching and waiting, Rena decided it wouldn't matter whether she was there or not. She didn't want to impose on the others and didn't want to be a wallflower either. Taking another juice, she drank it and munched on some snacks. Then she decided to simply make her exit. She hoped that more people would show and that everyone would have a blast but for her the night was over. She had some internship preparation to do in any case.

After a moment hesitation when it seemed to Camille the boy (Dylan) was seemingly unable to decide between accepting the suggestion of dancing from another girl (Lorena), Cam’s invitation and ignoring both, he finally made a move and took her hand. The only words they had exchanged were literally just “Let’s dance” and she wasn’t sure he had caught her thick French accent, which was a good thing. Not having ever seen him before, she took for granted he must be Swedish and was quite handsome, as well. As they hit the dance floor Cam had the chance to have a better look at the boy under the flashing lights, as she started moving her body following the rhythm of the music. She didn’t want to, but she was missing Ethan, so much, especially in these occasions, were normally the girl would spend the night commenting people’s outrageous outfits with him and playing pranks on romantic dates but no. Without him it didn’t really make sense to do such things. Or maybe, just maybe, she was growing up and lost interest in that. Over time, while they were separated, Cam started realizing what she had felt towards him started like a weird friendship but had evolved into a more complex feeling, but then he disappeared, leaving her alone in this freaking uncomfortable situation. While dancing, her head moved and her eyes wandered around the dance floor, at some point crossing their gaze with the boy’s, whose piercing blue eyes were fixed into hers for a moment.
