A long time ago on a forum far,

far away....

As I was perusing our rather deserted forums today, something caught my attention, something that shocked me just a little.

Now, I've always believed that HO has been a fairly governed forum, and it's administrators consummately adhere to it's rules and regulations.

Take for instance this except from the Hogwarts Online Handbook:

This simplistic rule has been enforced since before I can even remember and it's one that in my humble opinion, makes sense. So it came as a shock to me today when I saw that there was a new supporting character on the board...

Enter Rene Belloq. Who is Rene Belloq you might ask? Well, Rene Belloq is a French archaeologist who just happens to be the main antagonist in the movie, Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark.

Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa?!?!?!?

Yes, that is correct. HO has a supporting character with the same name and (get this) face as the cunning character from the Stephen Spielberg and George Lucas masterpiece.

I know what you're thinking, "But... but... that's against HO policy!" and you would be right!

So, my question, simply put, is why?

Rene Belloq and Elsa Schneider were created specifically for Gryffindor Pride which, as I'm sure you have seen already, is Indiana Jones-themed. He will not be played outside the Pride celebration forums, nor will he be played after the celebration is over. Creating supporting characters related to the Pride celebration theme has been a tradition for several years now, and during the planning period, the House Administration will cast willing writers to play these characters for the Pride celebration and the Pride celebration only. They only exist to supplement activity-related RPs and to help move those RPs along.

If you do see someone with what you think is an inappropriate name, as you have done here, we are very grateful when you bring it to the attention of any governor, the student's Head of House or the head of the area the account was made for, or Prof. Kelly Rhodes -- or you can bring it to my attention since I work directly with Governor Giordano in the Admissions Commission. Since this is a very important issue, I'd like to say thank you very much for bringing it to our attention, as many of us are hard at work to avoid these rule infractions.
