Before it was playing, breaking records, keeping up, winning for your team/school, then adding to my skill/exp base. You remember enjoying each and every day of your all to brief original childhood. Then chuckle with your mates how you struggled with the challenges of adulthood only to earn your second childhood, that is all the sweeter the second and third time around. As you walk to your ride, that the kids are checking out the alumni car club for it's gran'daddy coolness, you drop your old leather duffel bag, with the duct tapped school identification number (that is so old it screams Alumni) into the back seat floorboard, lean on the frame and slip in to the old leather driver's seat that still fits like a glove. The smell of premium leaded high octane fuel, green tea joint relief is keeping you all together. Kick on the original AM radio that still works, like you do. Give a nod to all your mates that you will be there or be square. Until one of the youngsters from the game runs to catch me in the parking lot. 'Do you still play? I mean coach?' they say with curiosity of a senior student who wonders will June be the beginning of the end in his eyes. I smile and give the nod of encouragement, "I train everyday, you should join us...
