Today was exciting. I started having vision issues two days ago so I went to see a retina specialist. He said I had a vitreous hemorrhage which tore my retina. I had laser surgery to repair the tear. They stuck a needle in my eye!!! Everything is fine, except where they stuck the needle in. Feels like a grit of sand. I wonder if it will scab?
So when I asked him why this was happening to me, he said it happens when you get older. And because I am so near sighted.
Okay, so I don't want to be that any more!! Like I could stop it. It just sucks to start falling apart.

My Husband had to leave the room. He couldn't handle even the thought of it, let alone be in the room when they did it. If I wasn't so scared, I am sure that I would have laughed at him. I am doing better today. Eye is REAL red, and it hurts where the needle went in. Other than that, everything is fine.

So, it has been 2 weeks. The eye ball no longer hurts. But I stillhave the floater. Big one too!! I go back next week for the check up. I will ask him then about it.
And Caro, I probably would have thought it was cool too, if it wasn't happening to me!!

My sister has diabetes and had this same sort of surgery. Needless to say she still has floaters in her eye and it's been that way for 5 months. Her doctor told her it would eventually go away but it will take a long time. It all started with cataract surgery. Her one eye is fine but the other one is the one with all the problems. I just hope I never get the diabetes, so far so good. Good luck with you eye.

The only thing I can compare that too, is back during my days in University I used to sometimes sleep with my contacts in and I got an ulcer on my eye. They had to hold my eye open with tweezer like things and then scrape it off. Needless to say I no longer sleep with contact in.
Glad to hear you are healing well! xx

I wear glasses from 9 years old. I don't feel it is some kind of crime to have bad eyes. These days they have very fashionable spectacles for good prices, cheap and expensive. With them I feel better than without them. They are a part of my image, like make-up also could be. But I am not a make-up girl.

I can not believe this topic is still here. Since this was first posted, I have had two more tears. One so bad they were not able to use the laser to repair and had to use cryogenics. Yes they froze my eyeball! Think of the worse brain freeze you have ever had. Multiple it by ten and now imagine that it lasted for 10 hours. It was bad. Then just when I thought I was done with check ups from that one, the doctor found another tear in the retina, in the same eye. That one was repaired with laser and I am in recovery. The floaters are so bad, that if I drive at night, the headlights from oncoming cars temporarily blind me. It is such a pain! But I still have my eye sight and that is good.
I have always been told that if you look into my eyes you see an old soul. Now I know it is just cause I have old eyes.
