Thanks to Rici for this idea. So there are a lot of members on HO, and naturally, each member has their own preferences for what browser they use, with there being many of them out there.

I would like to express my opinions of the major browser, both as personal preference, and as a web developer, and I would like others to give their inputs on why they use the browser that they use.

So here we go.

Firefox - This is what I use personally. Back when I started learning about the internet, I immediately was drawn to firefox, and I stuck to it. I love it. It has a great feel to it, easy to use controls, and amazing custom-ability. I know it isn't the fastest, because there certainly are faster browsers, but it isn't slow, and I have always just loved it. Coming from a web-developer's view, it is a good browser to code for, there aren't any major problems with it, and most everything works on it.

Internet Explorer - I hate to get started on Internet Explorer, but I will. I absolutely despise IE. In my opinion, IE is the worst browser there is on the internet. First of all, on the user end, it has horrible custom-ability, its features and controls are clunky, and it is down-right slow. Even worse, coming from a developer's view, it is an absolute atrocity. I implore any decent web-designer who likes IE, because I know for a fact, there are none. Microsoft has done a horrible job at making their browser work with coding that other browsers do perfectly. It is a nightmare to try to make websites work well with IE, and to be completely honest, is it a slap in the face for users to still use IE knowing that it is such a hassle for web-designers. I have actually gotten to the point where I refuse to make my website work in IE, and if people have problems, I tell them to get a decent browser. It is not worth my trouble to please people who refuse to come into the now and forget the clunky browser that IE is. /rant

Chrome - Chrome is a good browser. It is fast, efficient, simple, and pretty cool. I have absolutely no problems with this browser. It is actually faster than Firefox, but I still don't use it as a full time browser because I am still too attached to firefox, and I feel firefox has a lot of custom-ability.

Safari - To be honest, I don't do much of anything on Safari, but it is a good browser. No coding issues and it is pretty easy to use.

Opera - I actually really like opera. It has a lot of features that the other browsers don't have. The only problem is that Opera is a low-used browser, so a lot of times, web developers forget it when coding, so it gets left out.

So that is what I think of the 5 major browsers. Tell me what you all think of them, and which one you use, and why.

(I don't want to turn this into a flame war, so keep it nice guys. It is fine if you have a bad opinion about a browser, but lets keep it nice and not rude.)

I'm pretty in love with Chrome and recommend it to most of my friends for it's speed. That being said it's not that I'm against Firefox, I just enjoy the google aesthetic of having an incredibly minimalistic browser (I really love how the search bar and the url bar are one and the same and how tabs are above this bar). I'm also a rather large Google nerd and feel like if I can do it through Google I do, which makes using Chrome even better for me as I can incorporate google apps onto my main page.

It has add-on abilities like Firefox, but not as many choices and as someone who doesn't particularly need most of the add-ons I take speed and connectedness over customizability.

As far as IE, as a developer I hate it because it's not compatible with most modern coding. As a user it's always been the slowest browser for me.

Firefox is what I find best, the spell check it offers is valuable in rping.

IE and I don't get along, we have far too many issues with pages, coding, etc.

Safari I have noticed runs extremely slow sometimes. I do Farmville on facebook and when I'm at my friends and need to do it this browser and his mac fail out with it.

I use IE, Google Chrome, and Firefox.

I like them all IE is annoying, but it is the easiest to use for Facebook on my computer so if I'm busy doing something actually important on another browser I can be lazily Facebooking too. Really to me a browser is a browser, and as long as it works then I'm cool with it, I do like being able to play Angry Birds online though

IE at home just to play music
FF to do everything else, never got into chrome

I love Chrome, one thing I miss about FF though are the bookmarks at the top... does Chrome do this and I just don't know how to turn it on?

I use Chrome and Firefox. Chrome for most things Firefox for mostly rp stuff. I normally run both at once. Since I have two accounts for HO Jeff and Peter Jeff is on Firefox and Peter on Chrome and I can then be on both accounts at once without switching back and forth. Firefox is more stable in my opinion so if I'm doing important stuff on here then I don't have to worry about it freezing up or crashing on me but I like chrome more.

Okay so honestly I never even heard chrome before Prof. Nicholas here posted about browsers. After that, I downloaded chrome. Now I have IE, firefox and chrome. I rarely used IE now. It was too slow for me. I used both firefox and chrome but usually it's chrome. But then again, if I want to like be anonymous and the other one to be seen as online, I use chrome for my other charrie and firefox for the other one

I absolutely hate Safari... it always closes down whenever I'm doing something. I like Chrome much better, although it is slower.

Definitely Google Chrome. Even have two separate Google chrome browsers open! One for all my HO needs and the other is where all my other "junk" goes.

Occasionally use Firefox when Google has the hiccups. Back then I was attached to the hip with Firefox because it was way better than IE. After I tried chrome... I just can't choose between the two.

I often use Chrome and Firefox. Between the two, I have to say, Firefox make things easier for me. Chrome breaks and shuts down sometimes. Hate especially when catching up posts. LOL

I use Chrome and IE on my laptop, and Safari on my iPod Touch. From all, I like using Chrome (even though it is quite loooong) since my IE likes to go all hang which made my computer freeze and all those stuff.

Okay, so I am going to be a lone wolf here and say that I like IE. Now, I will qualify that by stating that I like IE-64. I don't seem to have the proplems that I had on the 32 bit machines. It flows much faster and I don't get the errors that I usually do with the 32 bit machines.

Now, I have tried Chrome and FF, and neither of them have caused me problems. I like the spell checking, most of the time, and they do work better on my old computer at school, but they get slow on my new machine. I don't know if it is the 64 bit processor, or something else, but they freeze up more.

I use chrome for almost everything since it's pretty nifty and it's relatively user-friendly (at least to me). I also like the skin thing and opening of incognito windows so that I can search for answers for stupid questions I need answering (so that people won't laugh at me when they use my google) and I don't want to keep deleting my browser history. It's also pretty fast but sometimes it doesn't work even though I'm connected to the wifi which irks me. Plus it helps me download my files without asking me where I want to save them which is because I download everything into the download folder and arrange them every week instead of on-the-spot.

Firefox isn't as fast as chrome but it's still generally pretty good and similar to chrome.

Opera's cool but I'm too lazy to find out how to use all the widgets, scripts etc. but there are many functions which is pretty cool.

IE sucks but I use it for Jasper's facebook (I use all four browsers btw). It must be the laggiest damn thing ever and I can't open tabs by doing ctrl + left click without lagging up my com, neither is there a function for me to open a new tab by right clicking it.

Wow, so no one's really put in a good word for Safari yet. I love it. It's simple and fast and easy to use. I have FF, too, and I like it and it's good, but all the custom stuff is really more than I need, so I tend to stick with Safari.

(@Eliana) It hardly ever quits on me..... by hardly ever, I mean about once a year.

I think that Safari is just kind of the nice little browser that hovers quietly in the background. It's good, but it's overshadowed by the big Chrome and Firefox. No one (except Eliana ) hates it, but no one thinks it's extraordinary, either.
