7.1
Introduction to Classes
Hogwarts Online offers over 40 courses dealing with all areas of magic that are allowed to be taught to students at their level. Each Course offered at Hogwarts Online is given a title. It is up to the Department Chairperson and the Professors in the department to work to determine what material can and will be covered in that particular course.

7.3
Enrolling in Classes

Before the start of each new term, the Governors will open enrollment in the Student Office. To enroll in classes, students must go into their Student Office and then to (Current) Term Enrollment. Students are encouraged to look over all the courses and their websites before the decide on the course. To enroll in classes, simply click on "Enroll", there is no confirmation screen, simply a screen that shows that you've been enrolled. The professor will then choose to accept you or deny you. DO NOT contact any professors and ask to enroll in their course.

Quills
  Quills are awarded to students at the end of each term for every class that they successfully complete. Think of quills as like a muggle high school credit. Students must earn at least 3 Quills by the end of each term to move up to the next year.

Awards
  At the completion of each term and/or month awards are given out to deserving students and Hogwarts Faculty members for their dedication and hard work throughout the past term. The awards are broken down into 3 main categories: Governors Awards, House Awards, & Class Awards.
 
7.5.1
Governors Awards
   

The following awards are given by the Governors each term.

Golden Quill: This award goes to the student that works most diligently in his/her studies and has the highest grade point average. You must take a minimum of 4 courses in the term to qualify.

Sapphire Heart: This award goes to the student that displays the best attitude and character in the school.

Silver Sword: This award goes to the student that best helps the new students at Hogwarts Online.

Bronze Owl: This award goes to the professor that is constantly active, their class is interesting and they are always willing to help out anyone in need.

The Golden Gavel These students participated in the Junior Wizengamot and welcomed new students warmly.

The following awards are given by the Governors each month.

Special Services to the School This award is given to the student or Professor that helps the school in some way.

Headmaster's Award Awarded by the headmaster to the student or professor that the headmaster feels is fit to earn this award.

Order of Dumbledore: Hard Work Awarded to the student or professor that puts their best foot forward in all their work and makes an effort to help the school.

Elizabeth Peevison Award: Kindness & Fairness Established to remember Elizabeth Peevison's term as governor, this is awarded to the student or professor displays the characteristics that Elizabeth was best known for: being kind and fair.

House Awards
   

Order of Godric: This award is given to the student that best exemplifies the character of bravery that is found in the Gryffindor House.

Best Badger: This award is given to the Hufflepuff student that BEST exemplifies the ideals of the Hufflepuff House.

Bronze Eagle: This award is given by the Head of Ravenclaw to the student that shows the most wit and intelligence throughout the term.

Slytherin's Snake: This award is given to the Slytherin student that best exemplifies Slytherin values

Class Awards
   

Ancient Runes Awards:

Othala Award: This award is given to the student that best shows his or her knowledge in the study of runes.


Odin Award: This award is given to that student who showed the greatest understanding of the runic journey in mythology.

Arithmancy Awards:

Golden Time-Turner: Will be awarded to the student with the most effort shown in the process of becoming an Arithmancer. The student with the best attitude, the best effort, the best energy will be awarded this prize.

Astronomy Awards:

The Astral Plane Award: This award goes to the student who shows promise in his or her ability to some day astral project. Criteria includes detailed and interesting posts and a grasp for the art of astral projection.

Cup of Sunlight: This award goes to the student with a bright future in Astronomy.

Moonstone Glory: This award goes to the student that is calm when faced with work.

Starry Sight: This award goes to the student who has improved noticeably.

Charms Awards:

The Magic Wand This award goes to the people who showed amazing effort and participation in their Charms classes this term.


Dancing Dueler This goes to the person who showed best effort in Art of Dueling and Dueling Club.

Superb Spell Award: This Award is given to a first year Charms student who shows great improvement and true potential in the Charms Department.

Flying Awards:

Golden Broom: Best display of flying skills

Defense Against the Dark Arts Awards:

The Boggarts Best: This award is given to first year DADA students who have show great dedication to the subject of defense against the darks arts.

Dedicated Defender Medal of Honor : This award will be presented to any student who has completed over two defense against the Dark Arts Class with high marks, and that has shown great interest in the subject of DADA.

Marvelous Missions Award: This Award goes out to people that have done an excellent job on any missions that they have had in Basic Charms, Basic Dark Creatures, OR Advanced Dark Creatures.

Divinations Awards:

The Golden Oracle: This award goes to those dedicated in the difficult study of Divinations. The person nominated for this award, should be dedicated to divinations both inside and outside of classes.

The Bronze Palm: Given to the students with promise and determination in Palmistry.

The Cranium of Knowledge: Given to the student or students who showed the most promise and did the most work in Phrenology.

The Silver Amulet of Dreams: Given to the student who shows the most determination in mastering this difficult art.

The Tarot of Creativity: Given to the student who showed the most effort in the Tarot classes over the many terms.

The Silver Orb: Given to the student who showed the most effort in Crystal Gazing.

Herbology Awards:

The Green Thumb: This award is to the most hardworking student in all of Herbology.

The Sacred Amulet Of The Fae: This award is to the student who got most creative with their assignments.

The Golden Root: This award is to the student who never fell behind in their work.

The Bronze Leaf: This award is to the student who did an independant study for Herbology.

The Bouncing Bulb of Glory: This award is to the First Year herbology student who worked the hardest.

The Mandrake Statue: This award is to the Second Year herbology student who worked the hardest.

The Unbreakable Phial Of Bubotuber Pus: This award is to the Third Year herbology student who worked the hardest.

History of Magic Awards:

The Historians Best: This award is for the student that showed the most knowledge of History of Magic also how much time and effort they put in to the class.

Muggle Studies Awards:

The Muggle Appreciation Award: This award goes to the student who showed the most connection and understanding of the ways of the Muggles.

Exemplary Muggle Studies Work Award: This student set an example for all of the students by participating in the work and discussions and doing a great job on their written work.

Potions Awards:

Phial of Honor: This award goes to the student that best uses the basic principals of potions to create extraordinary potions, this student also displays a love for potions and has at least a 95% in his/her current potions class.

Golden Cauldron: This award goes to the student that was extremely creative in their potion brewing all term long.

Clubs
 

Hogwarts has a wide variety of clubs and committees offered to all students. Any student may join the open clubs, very few clubs are made for specific groups of people unless its one such as the J.W.  A few of these clubs include: the Flying Club, The Dueling Club, Chauncey’s Crusader, the Ministry of Hogwarts and Scroll and Quill Club. Now, there are many more and you should check out the Club section Located in the School Grounds Area.

Hogwarts offers Weekly activities such as school dances, dueling tournaments and a wide array of club activities. We ask that you take the time to sign up for these activities and take advantage of the different things offered.
