College: Reed College
Major: Just switched from Sociology to Theatre with a focus in set design. But I've also dabbled in: pre-med, Spanish, religion, and anthropology.
Minor: My college doesn't believe in minors.
Other: If anyone wants to know about super duper pretentious colleges I have one! But also I'm involved with a theme dorm on campus (sci-fi/fantasy/role playing dorm), as well as a lot of community service around the greater Portland area, and generally trying to find time to think about things that aren't in textbooks.

Honestly, I went to CMU because of the marching band :P I'm not even doing music ed. I just LOVE BAND! But, luckily, I found out their teaching program is really strong. They used to be just a teaching school.

*Doesn't want this to sound as rude as it will...*

If you read my post that started this topic, CMU is Central Michigan University.

College:Rock Valley College
Major:History
Minor:English
Other:I'm finishing up my associates degree right now and if the career I'm working on falls through I'll go ahead and finish getting my degree in History with a minor in English. I've interned at the local museum here and that was pretty fun. I love history, it fascinates me, and I love to write about it.

College: Augustana College/ Northern Illinois University
Major: Psychology
Minor: formerly English
Other: I just transferred due to financial reasons so I'm trying to scramble in order to graduate on time

@Odessa: I've known people that went to Reed. Pretentious isn't the only reputation that place has got. Bunch of hippies yes?

@Jo: I picked Augie because it had the small, lib arts environment that I wanted. The place is genuinely my Hogwarts. However, I had to leave because it's really expensive, and now I'm going to a dumb state school where no one cares about actually learning something.

@Sophie
I had a friend go to Augustana and a load of my friends go to NIU. Good to see a fellow Illinoisan.

@Sophie : Sadly nowadays it's more hipsters than hippies. But as a wonderful minority student (read kid from the country with no moniez) I have the great luck of having a permanent force field around me that keeps the hipsters at bay ^^

As for why I chose to go to Reed, it's mostly because I wanted to go to an Ivy League level college but wanted to be on the west coast. Our ivory tower is the largest next to Stanford's on this side of the country! Also, because I really love Portland and all of the super dorks who have come to this school as neither hipsters or hippies (and really, the vast majority of people at the school are just super nerds, which I :P )

College: Longwood University this fall (transferring from Northern Virginia Community College)
Major: Social Work
Minor: None, but I've considered English....maybe.
Other: Er....I intend to start a Harry Potter club when I get there (as one does not currently exist - for shame!)....But other than that....um....I plan to work with kids or adolescents?

@Odessa - If it wasn't so far north, Reed would probably be an amazing fit for me. I'm so jealous of your themed dorms!

@Sophie - Psych major? Nice! I only chose social work because I get bored easily and want many career options without having to get a Ph.D. I seriously considered psychology, though, and I love, love, love the idea of being a personal therapist.

College: University of Bedfordshire, UK
Major: Teaching
Other: We don't really have minors in the same way as you guys have them. It's mainly an education and/or sport university. I'm in my final year.

College: New York University
Major: Neural Science
Minor: Molecular and Cell Biology
Other: I'm Pre-Med

Most of my friends think I'm crazy when I tell them my major/minor haha. I happen to actually like it. It sounds a lot more challenging then it actually is. Well, I suppose if you're not fond of the sciences, it probably would be quite boring and challenging. Oh well :)

College: Hood College
Major: Elementary & Special Education
Minor: no time for a minor with a double major!
Other: HO helped me realize I wanted to become a teacher! When I became an administrator here, I discovered my passion in administration and I now plan for that to be my masters. I'd like to be a principal and eventually a superintendent!

Ok, I'm going to be difficult...

Undergrad
College: Longwood University
Major: Biology (Pre-vet)
Minor: It was almost French. Almost...
Other: I was overly involved. Like...OVERLY. You don't even want to see the list of things I was involved in during my undergrad years.

@ Adricanna: While we don't have a HP club there...we did actually play quidditch one time. It was epic!

Graduate
College: Old Dominion University
Major: Still Biology
Minor: Like I have time for that...
Other: Being a grad student and working full time sucks...

My graduate research adviser is a cancer biologist so basically, I work with lines of cancer cells. I went through an entire semester of planning and attempting my potential thesis protocols only to have them completely fail in the end. It's back to the drawing board for me...
