Attention Durmstrang,

With the Fall Term starting on the 1st of September, it marks the beginning of the end for Sweden. In addition to this, with Durmstrang’s closing by the end of the year, the School Administrators and the Governors have agreed about some changes that will allow everyone who wishes to graduate their student from Durmstrang. Move ups will proceed as usual from Summer Term. These changes will only apply for Durmstrang Institute, staff, and its students.

The School

  • All students and professors will have the option to make transfers into comparable positions if possible. Students may sort into the house of their choosing.
  • Any current students who wish to stay, may do so. The course load will be reduced.
  • Students 4th year or below can move up more than one year after the Summer Term.

Classes

  • Classes will be held the same way. It will be following the UAS but with reduced class requirements.
  • There will be no class limit for students. This means a student can take more than 6 classes if he/she wishes. The excess class quills will be awarded as Non-Class Quills.
  • Fall Term will still end on November 15th in order for the students to still have fun during the Durmstrang Pride Month which will be held for the month of November.

Graduation

Since most of the concerns writers have about the closing of Durmstrang is that they want to have their student characters as Durmstrang alumni, these changes will take in effect for the Fall Term to accommodate them.

  • Quill requirement for Alumni will be reduced down on 12 Quills. You must be 4th year and above to be able to take advantage of this.
  • Students are still required to take the internships and IMPS to be granted Alumni Status. Course load will be reduced so as everyone still gets to enjoy their last term at Durmstrang.
  • Students may opt to graduate (with no alumni status) or drop out or transfer to Hogwarts after Fall Term 2019 if they did not complete the requirements.

In line with this, we made sure to have several quill earning opportunities outside of class so please look out for those! One of them is just right around the corner…

Let’s all have an amazing Fall Term!

Members of Hogwarts Online,

There seems to be some confusion in regard to move-ups, transfers, and graduation at Durmstrang over the course of the next few months.  While the Governors did offer the Durmstrang Leadership the option of doing away with Quills completely, we respect their decision to continue to run the school as an academic institute.  Our compromise, then, has been the following:

A Transfer Topic and Non-Alumni Graduate Topic will be posted by the Governors for:

- Any student from Durmstrang choosing to transfer to Hogwarts into a House of their choice

  • Students wishing to transfer for the upcoming Fall Term may do so until September 5th (a topic will be posted soon)
  • All remaining students may sign up to transfer for the Winter Term in November

- Any student from Durmstrang choosing to graduate their character without the necessary requirements

  • These graduates will NOT receive Alumni Status and will not have faces added to the Alumni Mirror
  • A topic for Non-Alumni graduation will be posted in November

To Graduate as a Durmstrang Official Alumni:
These new rules go into effect at the start of Fall Term, September 5th. Summer Graduation does not include anything outlined below.

- A student must acquire 12 Quills total (10 Quills plus 2 Quills from completing Internships and IMPS)

- A student must complete Internships and IMPS (Quills earned in these courses count toward the 12 Quills you need to graduate)

- The year of the student does NOT matter and is not a factor in being able to graduate

- Durmstrang Canons and Senior Transfers should take into consideration the year in which they were created to achieve Alumni Status. For example:

  • Those starting in 1st Year would need 10 Quills plus Internships and IMPS for 12 Quills total
  • Those starting in 2nd Year would need 8 Quills plus Internships and IMPS for 10 Quills total
  • Those starting in 3rd Year would need 6 Quills plus Internships and IMPS for 8 Quills total
  • Those starting in 4th Year would need 4 Quills plus Internships and IMPS for 6 Quills total
  • Those starting in 5th Year would need 2 Quills plus Internships and IMPS for 4 Quills total
  • Those starting in 6th Year would need Internships and IMPS for 2 Quills total

Yours,

The Governors
