If you log onto HO one day and see the site looking very... plain:
- the shoutbox is gone
- the side bar with governor portraits is gone
- you cannot access member profiles
- you cannot post statuses
- you cannot see who was online that day or who was currently online...
Then don't panic! It's not your computer or your Internet browser that are the problem.
You've logged in to find the site in Performance Mode. The governors put the site in Performance Mode when something is wrong with the site. It could be SQL errors or Fatal errors, or it could just be that big rush to enroll characters in classes at the beginning of the term, to name just a few reasons for it. To give the server a break, we put the site in Performance Mode. Sometimes it only needs to be this way for a few minutes or a few hours to sort itself out, while other times it will remain that way for a few days while Prof. Clemenceau works on a fix.
Performance Mode is temporary. While some of the extra features we love aren't available during this time, you're still able to do the most basic function of the site - role play!
Usually, the governors will make an announcement in our HO Facebook group when we have to enable Performance Mode. We also post updates there as we figure out when we might be able to take it out. Regardless of whether you're a member of the Facebook group or not, always rest assured that the site will only be in Performance Mode temporarily.
When the site is in Performance Mode, we ask for your patience as we actively work to restore the site to full capacity. Thank you.
