RULES OF THE SPELLS LIST

 

1. If a spell is not on this list, and you weren’t taught it in a class, do not use that spell. 

 

2. For the spells in your current year, you must be taught how to do those spells in classes. If the class hasn’t covered that spell yet, you may not use it.

 

3. Higher years can still do spells from lower years even if they were never taught those spells in classes.

 

4. You may only use a spell higher than your year if you are asked to use/learn it in a class or an RP Challenge, or if used during a dueling match; both situations must be under the supervision of a professor.

 

5. First-years are not allowed to use magic outside of classes except in the following cases: class demonstration or assignment, plot purposes, RP Challenges, or any case in which a professor has approved it prior to its use.

Aguamenti - Conjures a fountain or jet of clear water from the caster's wand. 

 
Alohomora - Opens locked objects.
 
Avis - Shoots birds out of the caster's wand.
 
Cistem Aperio - Used to open a chest or container.
 
Coloris Alterno - Colour-Change Charm-Changes an object's colour permanently unless Invorto will be used
to reverse it (usually one color only).
 
Descendo - Causes the target to descend or lower itself.
 
Embros Spinthirakia - (EHM-bros (soft “s”) spin-theer-AHK-yah) Produce harmless fireworks-like sparks from your wand.
 
Erecto - Straightens out the target object and sets it up.
 
Expelliarmus - Disarms your opponent.
 
Flipendo - Knocks an object backwards.
 
Finite - Stops any current spells.
 
Glacius - Freezes the target object.
 
Hair-Thickening Charm - incantation unknown - Thickens one's hair.
 
Hromalaxo - (hro-muh-LOCK-so) make something change colour (abstract) 
 
Hromamouallazei - (hro-muh-moo-uh-LOT-see) make yourself change colour
 
Lautus  - (LAO-tiss) Used to clean a pet, not causing the pet discomfort or harm
 
Lumos - Casts a small beam of light to shine from the end of your wand.
 
Incendio - Starts a fire.
 
Mobiliarbus - Moves objects. 
 
Nox - Counter to Lumos.
 
Petrificus Totalus – Full Body Bind.
 
Reparo – Undoes damage to an object.
 
Rictusempra – Causes the target victim to experience a tickling sensation.
 
Scourgify – Cleans things.
 
Silencio – Magically silences the target of the spell.
 
Virga Epistula (VER-guh ee-PIST-yew-lah) - Shoots ribbons out of a wand that form letters, numbers, and words.
 
Vertus – Strong blast of wind is shot from the end of the wand, used to push objects out of the way.

Aqua Eructo - Creates a jet of icy water.
 
Antler Jinx - incantation unknown - Causes the victim to sprout antlers.
 
Aparecium – Makes invisible ink appear.
 
Arania Exumai - Used to at least blast back Acromantulas or other large spider species.
 
Arescoripus - Dries up water.
 
Bluebell Flames - incantation unknown - Creates a quantity of blue flame which can be directed to a specific place.
 
Bullaureus - Bubbles Spell which pours non-bursting golden bubbles out of the wand.
 
Cantare - Starts to sing uncontrollably (in tune or not).
 
Carpe Retractum – Conjures a rope out of the end of the caster's wand, attaching itself to the target, and pulling it back to the caster.
 
Colloportus – Locks a door; Opposite of Alohomora.
 
Conjunctivitis – Causes damage to the target's eyes.
 
Diffindo - Split or cuts the target object.
 
Dissendium - Opens "One eyed witch" hump.
 
Ela Bourboulithres (ELL-uh boor-boo-LEE-thres (soft “s”)) - produce harmless soap bubbles from your wand (can be used as Amini Bourboulithres to create a screen of bubbles when making an escape).
 
Expulso – Causes the target object to explode.
 
Featherweight Charm - incantation unknown - Makes something as light as a feather.
 
Finite Incantatem - Stops currently operating spell effects [multiple spells].
 
Fusilis - Cushions the seat of a broomstick, giving the rider more comfort.
 
Immobulus - The Freezing Charm freezes objects. 
 
Impervius - Makes an object repel water.
 
Livignis - Creates a bluebell flame which can be directed to a specific place. It can also be saved in jars and unlike regular fire, only heats from the top of the flames, making it possible to carry.
 
Locomotor - Moves an object.
 
Locomotor Mortis - Locks together the legs of the victim, making him or her unable to walk.
 
Makrenimalli - Make someone's hair suddenly grow long.
 
Mobilicorpus - Moves unconscious bodies. 
 
Nakriono - (nah-KREE-oh-no) cool yourself down (if you're in a hot place).
 
Nazesteno - (knots-eh-STEH-no) warm yourself up (good if you're hiding in a cold place).
 
Niaourizi - Make someone "meow" like a cat every time they speak
 
Pack - Packs a trunk or perhaps any luggage/items to assemble themselves into a trunk.
 
Pexeimona (peck-see-MOH-nah) - make musical instruments play themselves (no guarantee that it will be either pleasant or in tune). 
 
Pollahroma - (po-LAH hro-MAH) make a group of things multicolored.
 
Protego - creates a magical barrier that will deflect hexes thrown at the caster.
 
Rennervate - Counters Stupefy. 
 
Repello – Spell that keeps something away from the caster or from a target object that the spell is cast upon.
 
Revetai Bourboulithres - (REH-veh-teh boor-boo-LEE-thres (soft “s”)) make someone belch bubbles (not harmful). 
 
Riddikulus - Use this spell and laugh to defeat a boggart.
 
Salvio Hexia – Deflects minor hexes aimed at an object.
 
Serpensortia – Conjures a snake.
 
Slug-Vomiting Jinx - Causes the victim to belch up slugs.
 
Stupefy - Knocks out opponent. 
 
Tarantallegra - Forces opponent to dance.
 
Twitchy Ears Hex - Causes the ears of the victim to wiggle and twitch uncontrollably.
 
Waddiwasi – Unsticks an object. 
 
Wingardium Leviosa - Makes on object fly
 
Yellatrella - give someone a major attack of the giggles

Cheering Charm - Incantation unknown - Causes the person whom the spell was cast upon to become happy and contented, though heavy-handedness with the spell may cause the person to break into an uncontrollable laughing fit.

Confundo - Causes your opponent to become confused.
 
Cushioning Charm - incantation unknown - Creates an invisible cushioned area.
 
Densaugeo - Enlarges teeth.

Depulso – Causes the target object to be thrown away from the caster; Opposite of the Summoning Charm.
 
Drought Charm - incantation unknown - Dries up a limited amount of water.
 
Embros Omihli (EHM-bros oh-MEE*-lee (*- breathe out harshly, like “ch”)) - create a smokescreen from your wand (also good for making escapes).
 
Engorgio - Enlarges and item. 
 
Episkey - Heals/repairs damage that has been inflicted on the target.

Depulso - The opposite of the Summoning Charm. It causes the targeted object to be thrown away from the caster, but it requires good aim.
 
Digilentus – Makes the target's fingers like jelly, so that they cannot grasp anything properly.
 
Duro – Transfigures the target object to stone.
 
Efulgeonivosus - Makes an enchanted snow fall in an area; the snow is warm and dry.

speech, and forces the victim to scuttle along the ground.

Cave Inimicum – Produces a invisible protective barrier used to protect against intruders.
 
Consumuto - Protean Charm which is complex and links several objects together so that if the original is changed, they will all change.

Entrancing Enchantment - incantation unknown - Entrances the person the spell is cast upon. 
 
False Memory Charm - incantation unknown - Implants a false memory in the mind of the target.

Lumos Solem – creates a powerful ray of light as bright as the sun.
 
Necto Seorsum - Binds someones hands and feet at full stretch in midair.
 
Permanent Sticking Charm - incantation unknown – Spell that magically fastens one thing to another. It is extremely difficult to remove anything fastened with a Permanent Sticking Charm.
 
Piertotum Locomotor - Used to animate statues and suits of armour to do the caster's bidding.
 
Protean Charm - Complex spell that makes something change form.
 
Protego Totalum – An advanced form of protego that protects the target area like a blanket.
 
Refilling Charm - incantation unknown - Causes the target container to refill itself.
 
Repello - Spell that keeps something away from the caster or from a target object that the spell is cast upon.
 
Repello Muggletum - Keeps Muggles away from the target place or object. 
 
Salvio Hexia - Deflects minor hexes aimed at an object.
 
Sectumsempra – Causes slashes on the chest of the target, like a sword.

Anti-Gravity Mist - incantation unknown - Charm which creates an innocent-looking mist which hovers above the ground. A person stepping into this mist immediately finds that up and down have reversed and they are hanging from the ground over the endless sky. 
 
Antonin Dolohov's - Incantation Unknown - The curse appears to cause massive internal injury, but it does not show any external symptoms. It is cast with a slashing motion, and it sends out zigzagging purple flames. 
 
Caterwauling Charm - incantation unknown - When an unauthorized person enters the target area while the effect is running, a caterwauling noise will be set off.
 
Concordia Sopor - Causes the target to fall into a deep slumber, while their consciousness is entranced by the melodic sounds created. Strong enough to be attempted by larger creatures, like Dragons. 
 
Entrail-Expelling Curse - incantation unknown - Probably involves expelling entrails.
 
Fiendfyre - Cursed fire, made up of flames of abnormal size and heat that can crumble fairly substantial objects to soot at a mere touch. Left burning long enough, the fire will take the shapes of gigantic fiery beasts (including serpents, chimaeras, dragons, and birds of prey) which will pursue any target humans.
 
Fidelius - Hides a secret within someone.
 
Homenum revelio- Reveals human presence in the target area.
 
Homorphus - Causes an Animagus or transfigured object to reassume its normal shape.
 
Ignis Draco - Creates fire with the same potency as a dragon. Can also be used to signal other dragons to come
 
Inclino Volucris - curse that causes a person to sprout feelers and inhibits their ability to talk.
 
Meteolojinx Recanto - Halts a spell that is causing rain.
 
Portus - Turns the target object into a Portkey. [Requires Ministry Approval].
 
Priori Incantatum - Result when brother wands duel.
 
Prior Incantato - Reveals a wands last spell cast.
 
Protego Horribilis - A powerful shield charm against dark magic.
 
Snitch Jinx - A delayed-action jinx which writes the word "sneak" across someone's face in pimples if they break an agreement they sign.
 
Totale - Used to destroy or wreck something large, such as a room. The effects can be reversed with Finite.
 
Transmogrifian Torture - (Incantation Unknown) This curse is similar to the Cruciatus curse in the sense that it causes pain to the victim. The difference between one and the other is that this curse tortures the victim to death, changing the shape of the victim. There is no counter curse.

Special Case Spells can only be used by Adult Wizards or by those who are only deemed capable or allowed to use them.
 
Challiance - Used by Professors on quills; stops the student from cheating in any way.
 
Ducklifors - Transfigures target creature into a duck.
 
Draconifors - Turns statues of dragons into real dragons.
 
Insomniárium - Puts an enemy into a deep sleep, where the person doesn’t breathe but stays alive (This one would be really good for Healers or Mediwitches).
 
Legilimens - Used to penetrate another's mind.
 
Morslupus - Magically 'tattoos' the Guffey Clan symbol onto a person or object [Approved by Prof.
Clemenceau and can only be cast by a Guffey].
 
Morsmodre - Conjures the Dark Mark which can only be used by Death Eaters.
 
Obliviate - Erases memories only used by Obliviators or Aurors.
 
Partis Temporus - Creates a temporary gap through protective magical barriers (with the exception of ancient and impenetrable barriers such as that within Hogwarts or those created by the Ministry and Headmistress, etc.).
 
Priori Incantatum: When two wands with brother cores are forced to duel, it causes one of the wands to regurgitate the last spells it performed in reverse order.
 
Tonsilitis Ungula - Cuts away a dragon’s claws.
 
Vulnera Sanentur - Causes wounds and gashes to heal up and any blood to [/b]return to the victim.
 
Memory Charms
 
Deleo Memoria (duh-LEE-oh meh-MOAR-ee-uh) - Completely deletes a memory so that it can never be recovered. A very clear idea of which memory you wish to delete is necessary to cast this spell. Since it can be dangerous, some organizations require both the caster and the victim to sign a consent form (if the victim agrees to it for Mental Healing purposes).
 
Emendo Memoria (ih-MEHN-doe meh-MOAR-ee-uh) - Unlocks a victim's memories so that they can be rewritten or modified.
 
Fulcio Repeto (FOOL-chee-oh rih-PEH-toe) - Strengthens a victim's long-term memory. Can sometimes act as a Countercharm to Obliviate; see the notes on Obliviate. This is primarily used in Mental Healing.
 
Obliviate (Forgetfulness Charm) (ob-LIV-ee-ate) Erases memories. Can only be used by Obliviators, Aurors, or (in some cases) Healers. If performed improperly, it can cause severe memory loss or brain damage. Some Committees on Experimental Charms in countries around the world believe that this spell doesn't completely erase memories; it simply prevents victims from accessing those memories. However, if the victim has a strong emotional hold over memories that have been Obliviated, it is possible to regain some of those memories. In other cases, Fulcio Repeto can act as a Countercharm to Obliviate. The conversation among Charms Researchers about whether or not this Charm can truly erase memories completely is called “The Debate on Obliviate.” 
 
Recorlevis (reh-COR-leh-viss) - Implants a false memory in the mind of the target. A very clear idea of the false memory you wish to implant is necessary to cast this spell. An alternative incantation for this spell is “Reproba Memoria” (rih-PRO-buh meh-MOAR-ee-uh).
 
Restituo Muneris (ruh-STICH-oo-oh moo-NAIR-iss) - Restores the motor functions to any area of damaged brain tissue.
 
Sino Repeto (SEE-noh rih-PEH-toe) - Strengthens the victim's short-term memory. Since this spell only strengthens short-term memory, the effects will usually wear off within 7-10 days. People with good memories might be able to benefit from this spell for up to one month. This is usually cast on people with memory loss due to aging.
 
Verto Memoria Affectus (VEHR-toe meh-MOAR-ee-uh uh-FECK-tiss) -  Allows the caster to rewrite a victim's memory to any extent. A very clear idea of the memory you wish to rewrite and an idea of where it fits in the victim’s past are necessary to cast the spell. This spell changes what the victim actually remembers, so the effects are usually more permanent than when using Verto Memoria Sententia.
 
Verto Memoria Sententia (VEHR-toe meh-MOAR-ee-uh sen-TEN-chuh) - Alters the way a victim feels about a certain memory. This only allows the victim to change his or her mind more easily about what has happened in the past. Therefore, the effects of the spell can wear off easily.
 
Vigoratus Tela (vih-goh-RAH-toos TELL-uh) - Allows the caster to reconstruct a victim's brain tissue if it has been damaged. Point to where you want the tissue regenerated and use your wand like a paintbrush.

Principal Exceptions to Gamp's Law of Elemental Transfiguration:

1. Food cannot be conjured out of nothing. It can be transformed or increased, though.

2. Money cannot be duplicated or conjured from scratch.

3. Physical curse damage cannot be repaired.

4. Resurrections of the dead cannot be performed successfully.

5. Pure love cannot be created by using magic.

 

 

Unforgivable Curses

 

As the magical world knows, the Unforgivable Curses were declared by the Ministry of Magic as illegal to use against a human being. They consist of the Cruciatus Curse, Imperius Curse and the Killing curse.

 

Crucio (Cruciatus Curse)

Pronunciation: CROO-see-oh

Color: Red, or sometimes no color at all

Effect: Causes the target to experience excruciating physical pain. Overuse of this curse can cause irreversible damage to the brain.

 

Imperio (Imperius Curse)

Pronunciation: im-PEER-ee-oh

Effect: Gives the caster control over another person, taking away the victim's free will. The caster's voice is heard in the target's head, telling them what to do.

 

Avada Kedavra (Killing Curse) 

Pronunciation: uh-VAH--duh ke-DAV-ra

Color: Green

Effect: Immediately kills the victim with no signs of physical effect.
